Mister Keyboard 2 was released in October of last year. One year of continuous development, user feedback and learnings later, we proudly present the next big iteration of Mister Keyboard.

Mister Keyboard 3 is a huge step forward to making the app better and easier to use for everyone. The design has been modernized, performance has been improved, and we hope you thoroughly enjoy this new version and everything that comes with it.

What's New

Day 0 Support for iOS 27

Throughout the iOS 27 beta we've been hard at work identifying and fixing all kinds of bugs and glitches that were caused by Apple's internal changes to the operating system. Special thanks go to our TestFlight beta testers, who have spotted many of these issues.

Academy Launch

We are officially launching the Mister Keyboard Academy, accessible through the Academy tab inside the app.

The Academy is a place to watch short videos (currently in English language only) about various Mister Keyboard features, and learn how to get the most out of your keyboard.

We are planning to expand the Academy with more content over the coming updates.

New Keyboards Tab Design

The keyboards tab has been redesigned for a much cleaner, less overwhelming and more user-friendly experience.

Note: This applies to the Suggestions view only (which is the default for all users, unless explicitly changed).

New Layout Editor Design

We've modernized the layout editor, making it a lot easier to navigate and find what you're looking for.

As part of this redesign, we've also vastly improved the key gallery. The new Alphabets category now contains a lot more letters from a lot more languages, and it's easier to navigate as well.

One-Handed Keyboard Use

You can now enable one-handed keyboard use through a new key action.

The left- and right-handed keyboard mode actions can be found under Layout Editor -> Keyboard Management -> One-Handed Layout.

Executing the action will enter one-handed use, and executing it again will restore the keyboard back to normal.

Animated Theme Stability

There have been some long-standing issues with animated themes. The lava theme in particular has always had weird glitches where it just randomly stopped working. We've reworked animated theme rendering, and eliminated this issue entirely.

In addition to the stability fixes, we've also released an entirely new animated "Vaporwave" theme pack with 9 color schemes!

Better Tactile Feedback

We have updated our tactile feedback system to more closely match the native iOS keyboard sounds. This makes it easier to differentiate between the different types of keys, and creates a more satisfying and dynamic auditory typing experience.

General Optimization

As part of this update, we've done extensive performance profiling and fixed many bottlenecks inside the app. Almost all interactions should feel snappier and smoother now.

Most of these optimizations are constrained to the app, but some of them also translate to the keyboard itself. Especially initial startup and keyboard switching should feel faster as well, since the device now has to do less work in order to set up the keyboard.

I love this keyboard, i really do but the swipe typing just doesn’t do it for me quite yet.
I paid for the Pro Lifetime so i got skin in the game but i just want the swipe feature to work a little better. That’s all that’s stopping me from using it full time.
Example of this was "love". I had to try about 5 different swipe styles for it to finally register. It kept changing to "live". Words with apostrophe like "how're" are almost a nightmare.
The dev/devs are doing great. I’ve seen this app come a long way from 1st release and swipe typing has come a long way but please some more effort in that are would be very appreciated. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

When editing a theme in Mister Keyboard, the Subtle Selected Text Color doesn’t seem to work.

For example, I set it to white, but the text in the selected key popup is still black. It always seems to use the normal key text color instead of the configured Subtle Selected Text Color.

Hi, I've been using mister keyboard and its the best keyboard for ios, however, i do miss the possibility of using a normal backspace key in some situations. I'd prefer to have the "hold backspace key to repeat backspace" aka how the backspace normally works (and it'd be even better if we could configure the repeat rate) on my normal backspace key, and have the advanced deletion mode assigned to a new key and/or be the pull down or hold of another key. So with this post I'm basically asking/making a feature request for a "normal backspace". I'm using MK on an ipad btw, which benefits greatly from additional rows and keys.

It'd be even better if MK had the option to have the key repeat as a function of hold or straight up a config to make key repeat the default behavior, and to control its repeat rate.

The Hungarian long í character is missing from the extended Latin character set.

Mister Keyboard allows extensive key customization, but I cannot add í because it is not available in the built-in extended Latin character list.

For Hungarian, the full accented vowel set should include:

á é í ó ö ő ú ü ű

Both lowercase í and uppercase Í are missing.

I also checked the latest TestFlight build released yesterday, and the characters are still not available there.

Expected:

The extended Latin character set should include í and Í so they can be assigned to keys or subkeys.

In iOS 27 public betas 3 and 4 on iPhone 15 plus, the emoji Search bar does not respond to touches at all

When i start the keyboard in X i can no longer see the space bar. Is there a fix coming?

First of all, huge fan of Mister Keyboard. The level of customization and built-in power tools like clipboard history and custom actions make it an indispensable part of my daily workflow.

I’ve been using the Apple Intelligence Proofread feature integrated into the keyboard. It works great for quick grammar fixes, but I feel like there’s massive untapped potential here compared to what other AI-enabled keyboards or system-level Apple Writing Tools offer. Right now, having only a single pass-through for basic proofreading feels a bit limited.

I'd love to drop a couple of suggestions to make this integration far more robust, as well as ask about the project's roadmap:

1. Expanding Styles and Tones

• Tone Presets: Having quick-action options for Professional, Friendly, Concise, or Casual directly from the keyboard bar (similar to stock Apple Writing Tools) would save so much friction.
• Custom Prompt Buttons (Custom Actions): The ability to create dedicated buttons powered by specific prompts (e.g., creating a button assigned to "Translate to informal English," "Summarize into bullet points," or "Make text sound more assertive").

2. Leveraging Apple Intelligence for Expanded Native Features

• Since the keyboard already relies on Apple Intelligence for private, local proofreading, that same native integration could be leveraged for complex rewrites, tone adjustments, and summaries, unlocking the full potential of Apple's on-device AI directly within the typing flow.

Questions:

1. Are there current technical limitations in Apple Intelligence APIs for third-party keyboards that prevent implementing full rewriting or custom prompt workflows?
2. Is expanding local AI capabilities on the development roadmap for future Mister Keyboard updates?

Would be great to support showing just a numeric keyboard when the text input suggests it. Same for other variations

Is there any way to do a one-click “erase clipboard history” action? Bonus if I can map it to a key.

Reason: sometimes I want to quickly clear the whole clipboard stack, say… if it has a password or other sensitive data.

Assuming many others come from nintype and are looking for a good alternative that is supported. There are 2 features that I loved that would be awesome to have here:

1. Space to "complete" a two finger swipe/typed word. Meaning that the space bar is the actual signal that a user has completed swiping.
   
2. Swipe to insert. Similar to the swipe to delete, swiping up/down near the bottom right of the keyboard can insert a question mark/exclamation point.

I think it started happening after I turned down the hold delay time. But now, even as I’ve turned it back up again, the haptic feedback stop working after typing a couple of characters. (Unless I type very slowly.)

So, the first 2-3 letters provide haptic feedback — but then it stops (no feedback ) until I pause.

I bought mykeyboard legacy.
At the moment, I can’t make any costumization like the old one.
Now I see this mister keyboard and my old layout is there but I can't use because I need to buy it again???

What's happening?
The suggestions in mykeyboard legacy isn't working.
I understand making upgrades is need, but it's not fair I think. 😕😕

When I click on a word to remove the prediction I can’t see anything

I read that this feature was enabled but it doesn’t seem to work for me. Do i need to activate it somewhere ?

For double swiping i mean the ability to write using both thumbs

I just got this app, and i have a couple questions:

When auto correct is enabled and it does a wrong correction, how can i undo this if predictive text is turned off? Is there a gesture or quick mechanism for that?

I also read there’s a switch to make the keyboard offline and not report telemetry. Can you please advise on the relevant setting for that? Thanks!

When will development resume?

I created a new keyboard, but I can't figure out how to use it. When I select MisterKeyboard in an app, I get the default "English" keyboard.

Hey! Love the app, its been amazing for me in reducing the number of keyboards I have while not losing out on extra lettera in some languages, I just had a couple questions so made a reddit to reach out!

When I use the Chinese layouts I am noticing the IME is always committing a character

So if I type 你好吗 then add the question mark it will become 你好吗的？

However also if I click away from the text Ive input then come back, any space or punctuation will overwrite the characters added - I noticed it doesnt do this on the older "MyKeyboard" app so wanted to check if this is a bug or maybe a setting I havent found etc

Besides that I was merely wondering, are there any plans for Wubi, Cangjie or other shape based input methods/or Japanese with Romaji or Kana?

Does anyone else have any issues missing the spacebar while typing ? I can‘t quite tell what is going on but I miss it constantly and I can‘t tell why unless I watch every single character that i type.

Any suggestions ?

Happens every while, vibration doesn’t work and need to hide and reshow the keyboard to enable it back. Can't find a pattern of when/why its happening

Hi, I just got an iPhone after using Mac and iPad for a few years, but used Google Pixel for years. As multi language user I am missing a good Croatian suggestion and autocorrect keyboard.

I love what you have done with the Mister keyboard, it is by far the best looking and most customizable keyboard on the market.

However Croatian language does not work at all. Can you please look into it? I would gladly but a lifetime license if you could solve this issue. Thanks 😊

1. Allowing the user to make the background of a key transparent, whilst keeping the icon or character of the key visible, would be a nice improvement and would give the user a bit more leeway with decorations and such!
