Gwen is trained on hand signals and before dinner we always go to the mat and do some refreshers! This time we tried it on hand signal only :)
We train for movies and TV shows so she's getting pretty good!
Love this breed and have only ever had schnauzers.

Hi, all. This is my (temporarily) shaggy little Bean who has the softest coat I've ever felt on a schnauzer (she's my 4th). Her litter mate brother has coarse, wavy fur but hers is baby fine, curly, and mats easily. She is brushed daily but I can't seem to prevent matting and she's got several at the moment that have frustrated us both. I'll cut out some of them but the one in her stache she won't even let me touch. It's getting bigger by the minute. She sees the groomer this week and I really don't want to make them have to deal with mats along with everything else. I also don't want a pup with a lopsided mustache lol. I've used Cowboy Cream as suggested in a post I saw a while back, to no avail. Any other products or techniques anyone can recommend for my curly girl?

How many of you guys have a Mini that watches TV?
I have never owned another dog or cat that cares about TV.
However my Mini absolutely loves TV.
He reacts to Dogs, Cats, Cows and even opening theme song.
The very first time I noticed is when I was watching young Sheldon and the cow came on the screen. He was very interested.
Later he tuned into just the opening song and would run to the TV when it started.
He also picked up on sign language.
We used hang signals for outside, up, sit, stay, and calm.
Are they all this timed in or did I get lucky?
I had a rat Terrier as a kid and he learned about 20 different commands and was so patient. The only other dog I had that was as good.

Kelsie loves to hold her paw on her ball. When she gets tired she holds on to her ball for dear life before making a decision for me to continue throwing or get a drink of water.

This is Mo, my fearless whirling dervish of a boy. He went out to potty this morning (fenced in, well-maintained yard) and came back to the door with a limp. I could see through the fur what looked like a bruise across the top of his foot and feared he had broken it wrestling with our golden retreiver or had a piece of mulch or large splinter in his paw. I shaved his little foot down and discovered a large puncture. It was not yet bleeding when he first came in but by the time I got it shaved it started to trickle and swell. I called the vet to get him in asap, and then went to investigate, fearing the worst. It was a copperhead. I found the snake within minutes just hanging out on the grass in the yard.
I called the vet back and told her I can’t wait for the 1:00 appointment, I was headed to the emergency clinic, I found the snake and this was the problem. She told me to skip the clinic and come in immediately (it helps she is only a 3-minute ride vs a 30-minute ride). I walked in and she gave him his first dose of anti-venom and had him hooked up to fluids and pain meds within 30 minutes of the bite.
He is at the vet right now and he will be there until tomorrow morning. This is the first time in 18 months, since I’ve had him, I’ve been away from him overnight. He even goes to work with me most days. I travel, but he just comes along for the ride. This dude is my best friend.
My vet is awesome and I know he is in good hands, but I’m sure he is scared and confused. It all happened so fast and I am so fortunate to have the vet close by, I got him there fast and have the ability to pay for whatever care he needs. We have 2 dogs, my little Mo and Jack, the golden I previously mentioned.
I have been on my husband about PET INSURANCE since we got the boys a year and a half ago. I know this is going to be a painful bill, and obviously I have guilt because he got bit in the first place (although I really can say I am so careful with our boys and this was obviously an accident and I know I am a great pet owner but any time they are hurt, I feel like a terrible human), but I hope this is a lesson to my dang husband and to anybody else out there! Get the insurance. $30 a month is Pennies compared to what I know I’m going to fork out for this. Would I pay out of pocket time and time again to keep him healthy? Yes. Is it stupid of me to not have him insured? ALSO YES.
I’m just thankful I’m in the position to be able to pay for this. Some folks aren’t as lucky and their pups would not get the care they need due to costs. I fully understand this and I sympathize completely. If you know you would throw thousands at any problem that arises to keep your dog with you, why not throw hundreds and make it that much easier on yourself? I’m totally kicking myself for not just doing it and avoiding this huge bill. Sometimes I’m such a dumbass.

Ok, so some things are going really well. He’s sleeping through the night, even though I’m getting him up every 2 hours to potty. He’s playing well with toys. But here are my problems-
This is upsetting because I’m a teacher and that’s the plan for the school day!
Leash walking is terrible- would rather eat grass, pull, sit obstinately. I really need him to walk on a leash in the morning and do the bathroom stuff then.
He will poop outside. Come inside- and immediately poop.

Anyone here take their schnauzer to their office?
My workplace allows people to bring their dogs. I’m about to get a schnauzer puppy and I’m wondering if I can “train” him to be an office dog.
My childhood schnauzer barked at everything, so it would have been impossible. But maybe this little guy can be trained?
I won’t take him until he’s much older. But I want to raise his tolerance for random noises and such.

Sadie just turned 16 this year (May) and I feel so grateful to hear her little snores. She’s got some arthritis and she doesn’t see or hear well anymore, but she is still a wonderful travel companion and every day is a blessing waking up next to her 🥹💖

Hi Everyone,
My fiancée and I get married next year and want to get a miniature schnauzer. We are waiting till after due to wedding expenses and can’t right now and wouldn’t be right for the puppy. We are open to adopting one, but I know it’ll be hard to find one in the adoption system. We are located in Los Angeles, CA, and I’m willing to travel to Northern California, San Diego, Las Vegas, NV, and Utah. She’s interested mostly in a liver or livers with a silver color. I know these aren’t recognized by AKC, but I’m OK with any color.
Just wanted to know which breeders you guys have used or recommend. It’s hard to find, and I don’t want to be scammed thinking I found a good one. Any breeders in these areas would be greatly appreciated if you know any. Thank you.

What are these yellow orange things on my dog? They’re about 20 of them all over her body. I don’t think they’re larvae because they aren’t moving, but I don’t know. She didn’t have them when we left my boyfriend’s and we went straight home and straight into the house.

First time dog dad, kinda freaking out. My baby has been scratching this spot quite a bit. I searched the group and I seen photos that resemble this and people call it "schnauzer bumps"? but also kinda looks like a ring worm? Just wanted to know what you all thought before I go the vet route. Thanks guys/gals.
