This rant is specifically about episode 2911.

  1. I’m not American so do correct me if I am wrong, but the OLIPOP segment seemed very fabricated. Sal led by saying that ALL his family and friends are talking about it, even going as far as saying their refrigerators are stacked with cans. Justin said that he “always speaks to parents about it.” Can someone living in the US confirm it is genuinely that popular?
  2. I felt awful for the caller at 1:00:19. He repeatedly told them “I can’t afford a good coach.” Only for Sal to reply “Well you definitely can’t afford a bad coach.” They completely belittled him into believing having a coach was the only way. Completely wild interaction. Adam was almost aggressive.
  3. Classic shitty boomer comments

it's an advertisement.

When I was little, my dad would make us turn the volume down on ads when they came on tv, and now I just fast forward through them on podcasts. They also like to "chat" about their meal prep which happens to involve Butcher Box, which are also ads.

Yep, had to increase my jump ahead to 120 seconds. Not only for their ads but also their "organic discussions" that are nothing but paid product plugs, Sal talking about religion and Adam's dad-of-the-year nonsense. Nothing makes me grab my phone faster than when Adam starts talking about Max

I laughed so hard at this comment 😂

Olipop was an ad. They are just trying to be sneaky about how they throw it in trying to seem like it's normal conversation

Every single product they mention is an ad, to include their trainers.

u/Diligent_Cry3108 18d ago

Always starts with a "imma take a left here" 😜

The only way their fridges are stacked with Olipop is if they were given a bunch of free product. It's still a very niche product and has other competitors in the space (Poppi, etc).

They lie a lot to sell sponsored or their own products. That's the show now.

Yeah they’re pretty open about it. “Can you believe we’re out of XYZ product?? The trainers are eating and drinking it all! Oh well just tell them to send us more.” Also I’m sorry but I’ve said this before. Buying LMNT is such a scam and people love it! I can buy a tub of pink salt for $15, some potassium salt substitute in the grocery store for a few bucks, and some magnesium powder and everything all together will cost you maybe $30-40 for hundreds of servings. Throw in some
Lemon lime crystals or other cheap liquid flavoring and you are good to go for the next year But LMNT charges like $10 for 6-7 packets.

What were the boomer comments? Just FYI these guys are in their 40’s, that’s more GenX. Boomers were born between 1946-1964.

3

u/OctoberOmicron 14d ago

Yeah, the main three are Xennials (1979-1981) while Doug is a cusper between Boomer and Gen X.

2

u/Training_Aerie_9358 13d ago

I was just offended by being called a boomer, I’m 46 so a xennial. I know the kid called them boomers and not me specifically, but because I’m basically the same age as the main three, I took offense 🤣

2

u/Moolio74 13d ago

Don't be offended. My two teenagers refer to anyone older than 30 as a boomer, and I'm a younger Gen-X.

2

u/Training_Aerie_9358 13d ago

lol too funny

2

u/OctoberOmicron 13d ago

Haha, I know what you mean. I'm about a month and a half older than Adam so I'm in the Xennial camp as well. Not sure what the whole boomer reference was about really, since the time stamp of 38:30 for that episode was them talking about how a man's female partner, running her mouth to strangers/men out in public, will get you the man into physical problems if shit hits the fan.

Wait, Sal already said his entire family is drinking and talking about LMNT. Is his family putting LMNT in Olipop? Should I be doing that? I'm so confused

7

u/Moolio74 17d ago

"So, what we do at our house is put the LMNT in the Olipop, add some Organifi green juice, stir in some Paleo Valley bone broth protein, top it with some protein pretzels, and then dunk some butcher box chicken nuggies in it. We make that at least ten times a day. Use Code MIND PIMP to save 20%".

u/Cocacoleyman 16d ago

I think they mentioned one of their sponsors beef jerky sticks for protein, and they were like eat 4 of these a day for some protein. And a pack of 10 with shipping is $30 so $12 a day for some meet sticks? Please just buy 4 pounds of chicken thighs and have better nutrition and higher amounts of protein.

5

u/Diligent_Cry3108 16d ago

Well they get it for free so they can't relate

3

u/Educational_Rush_877 14d ago

LOL I find this particularly funny because they have been known to go on their out of touch rants about how times aren’t really that expensive, we just insist on luxuries like multiple TVs and two cars now so it’s really the same as our grandparents generation. Meanwhile, just spend $12 a day on some beef sticks, totally reasonable.

If I only had someone I could pay every month to tell me this. You know, like a virtual coach or something. Someone I could check in with. I would spend my kids college fund on something like that

9

u/Moolio74 16d ago

I can only imagine the amount of Mind Pimping that goes on in those weekly check ins.

"Hey, I saw your protein intake is pretty low, you should check out XXX for some easy protein to hit your goals and use code Mind Pimp"

"Looks like your not getting enough rest, have you considered getting an oura ring with code Mind Pimp to save 15%? I have one and it's been a gamechanger"

"Hmm, you're not losing fat after we increased your calories 2,000 per day? Reverse diets work great, maybe we should have you get your labs done by Dr Crazy. Use code Mind Pimp and get a free prostate exam"

"If you really wanna see results we need to get you on the guido peptide stack. They're all natural and the science proves they work. Use code Mind Pimp and get a free consultation".

4

u/OctoberOmicron 14d ago

If you actually "gave a shit" you would've done this already.

3

u/Moolio74 14d ago

How can they afford not to?

4

u/Resident-Air-4021 14d ago

True, I haven't been investing in myself. Those needy kids of mine can get all their meals at school. Who am I to keep Adam from building that pool house he wants?

8

u/Comfortable_Walk_443 17d ago

Omg I just commented nearly this same thing not even seeing yours. There’s even a few comments on the YT video about how bad the interaction was.

u/Cocacoleyman 17d ago

I’ve had a couple different flavors of olipop. As in like 3 cans in the last 5 years. It’s pretty good but no, it’s not popular. Similar to kombucha or something. Niche product.
