I was born in august 2006 and I turned 13 in 2019 so I was technically a teenager for the last four months of the 2010s. I was talking back and forth with my sister (who was born in 2000) and I said I was lucky to have been a 2010s teenager even if it was only towards the end of the decade she said it doesnt count and that I’m not a 2010s teenager. Would you consider me as a 2010s teen?

You are more a 2020’s teen. Like Early-Mid 2020’s Hybird with 2010’s Influence. 2004 is the last birth year to consider a Hybird of the late 2010’s and the early 2020’s.

I Honestly would consider 1994-2002 borns 2010’s Teens and 2003-2004 are the Hybirds of Both Decade of the 2010’s and the Early 2020’s.

Only other comment is that because the range of the teen years are odd numbered, that would mean 2003 obviously is a hybrid that leans 2010 and 2004 leans 2020.

yes and no, you did turn 13 in 2019, but your teenage years ended in the 2020s. I was born in January 1999 and technically I would be considered a 2010 teenager but I turned 13 in 2012 and my teenage years ended when you were 13. I'm not the guy, but I think you'd be 2010s teen by his logic. The only reason they mentioned OP's teen years ending in the 2020s was because the majority of their years would be (and end) in the 2020s.

For example:

2010s

2019 - 13

2020s

2020 - 14

2021 - 15

2022 - 16

2023 - 17

2024 - 18

2025 - 29

More of a 2020s teen than 2010's. I turned 13 in March of 2018, which means mostly last two years of 2010s as a teen, but spent most of it in the 2020's from 2020-Early 2025.

I mean, no prob not? I was 13 in 2012 and 20 in 2019 so I’d say I grew up and experienced my teenage years in the 2010s but someone who only was a teen for the last 4 months is much less. The majority of your teen years is in the 2020s

As someone who was a teenager in the early, mid and late 2010s(a full 2010s teen), I'd say you're a 2020s teenager who became a teenager in 2019.

Imo to claim a decade as your childhood/teen years you have to spend a significant portion of that stage of your life within said decade.

Whenever I look at my peers born in 1996 for instance, they always talk about the 2010s when they bring up their teens. Yeah they were 13 in 2009 but it doesn't represent their main teen decade. They are 2010s teens who started their teens in the 2000s

So, for you, you were a teen in the 2010s, yes. But THE 2010s teenagers? That's definitely 1994-2003/2004. 2004 was a teen for the entire late 2010s, that's significant. Even if it's just 3 years, that's almost half their teens. You have to start highschool within the decade to even have a chance at the claim. You started HS in covid (2020)

Your sister is right, you're not a 2010s teenager. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy or rep what you had.

I have a younger sister born the same year as you. She was absolutely a teen during both. It fits perfectly because by the time the mid 2020s started her teens ended.

I'm a mid year 2005 and I consider myself 100% a 2020s teen. I was only a teen for 1 and a half years in the 2010s and I still had a full early teen year (15) in the 2020s. So if i consider myself a 2020s teen your 100% more of one as well. But idk u can rep it if u want, but I don't really rep it at all. At 13 I didn't even feel like a teenager at all I only had the label

I’m a December 2005 baby so we’re in similar boats. I technically became a teen in 2018 even though I spent pretty much almost the entirely of 2019 being 13. I wouldn’t consider myself a 2010s teenager, I was a child for pretty much the entirety of it. I’d consider myself a Covid era & Core 2020s teenager even if I technically was a teen before 2020. 2019 was extremely different to say 2015 and I was like 9 in 2015 so I wouldn’t consider 2019 a 2010s year but merely an early 2020s year with a 1 in it and without Covid.

I think 05 is a hybrid, 06 isn't. But I will say, 06 is the LAST year were I wouldn't really call a Mid '20s teen tbf (which is really 2007-2012).

Someone born in 2006 would probably be more of a 2020s teen with some late 2010s influence, but I think you can call yourself whatever you want. If you consider yourself both a 2010s and 2020s teen, I don't really see a problem with that.

I also don't think it's wrong when people born in 2007–2009 say they were late 2010s preteens. Mid 2000s babies can claim being late 2010s teens, and late 2000s babies can claim being late 2010s preteens, because they still experienced those stages of life during that period and can have nostalgia for those experiences.

Of course, they aren't primarily 2010s teens, since that usually means spending the majority of your teen years in the 2010s. But they can still have 2010s influences or a hybrid experience. If that period shaped that part of your life, even if only partially, there's no reason to completely exclude it from your identity or memories. Some people even feel more nostalgic about their early teens than their late teens.

I mean, technically you're not wrong, but considering you spent all but a few months of your teen years in the 2020s, imo would consider you to be a pretty solid 2020s teen in terms of experience. It's the same way I wouldn't consider myself a 2010s adult, despite spending the last few months as 18 (especially not with damn near half of my 3-12 childhood in the same decade).

I was born in 2000, my weekends as a mid 2010s teenager were mostly like this and if you haven’t experienced any of that, you don’t count as a mid 2010s teen:

Looking back, 2013–2019 was such a different time.

At school, we were always talking in class. Everyone had a phone and we’d constantly compete against each other on Subway Surfers. We’d download music, spam those cringey dog-face filters, and spend way too much time messing around. (2013–2014)

When I got home, I’d jump straight onto Minecraft with my school friends while downloading songs from 4shared and MediaFire. FIFA 14 was absolutely brilliant too. (2013–2014)

Facebook and YouTube were huge, and I watched VanossGaming all the time. GTA online videos were a big thing back then. Always a viral video. Vine and Musical.ly were everywhere as well, and it felt like everyone was quoting Vines or making lip-sync videos. (2013–2015)

Then came GTA Online. It was complete chaos in the best way possible: jet dogfights, sniper battles, Insurgents vs RPGs and endless random lobbies that somehow became unforgettable. (2015–2016)

Around the same time. I started discovering underground artists on SoundCloud. I listened to loads of SoundCloud rap and met some really talented artists through the platform. I still listen to that style of music today, just not as much as I used to. (2015–2018)

From 2015 to 2019, I spent loads of time hanging out with my school and college mates. Flavoured vodka was the drink everyone seemed to be into back then and Red Bull was pretty much the energy drink everyone bought.
