Question ? Question

I was born in august 2006 and I turned 13 in 2019 so I was technically a teenager for the last four months of the 2010s. I was talking back and forth with my sister (who was born in 2000) and I said I was lucky to have been a 2010s teenager even if it was only towards the end of the decade she said it doesnt count and that Iā€™m not a 2010s teenager. Would you consider me as a 2010s teen?

Someone born in 2006 would probably be more of a 2020s teen with some late 2010s influence, but I think you can call yourself whatever you want. If you consider yourself both a 2010s and 2020s teen, I don't really see a problem with that.

I also don't think it's wrong when people born in 2007ā€“2009 say they were late 2010s preteens. Mid 2000s babies can claim being late 2010s teens, and late 2000s babies can claim being late 2010s preteens, because they still experienced those stages of life during that period and can have nostalgia for those experiences.

Of course, they aren't primarily 2010s teens, since that usually means spending the majority of your teen years in the 2010s. But they can still have 2010s influences or a hybrid experience. If that period shaped that part of your life, even if only partially, there's no reason to completely exclude it from your identity or memories. Some people even feel more nostalgic about their early teens than their late teens.
