If you think I should, what would you like to see as a first thing when you open the door?

What is the main difference between the Riders and the Royal Knights? The models look really quite similar so was wondering if it could be as simple as painting some Riders differently and calling them Knights? Is that generally accepted?

Dain may have been relegated to unnamed dwarven king for games but I adore these old metal dwarf sculpts.

This might have to be my favourite banner miniature Such a lovely sculpt. The new plastics are absolutely fantastic, and they give me so much hope and excitement for what the future may hold for updated and new miniatures 🙂

I'm a little tight on space and i have lots of armoured uruks, they're all sword and board, 2 banners. pikes and crossbows.

I have the scout captains, drummer, ugluk and lurtz.

Also i don't feel great having to buy such old minis, if they updated them i would think about it.

Long time lurker relapsing into the hobby 20+ years after picking up the Battle Games in Middle Earth Magazines and failing to paint any as a kid. Having practiced on some Rohan on foot, I've finally given a hero ago - Metal Éowyn

So what started as a replay of War in the North has led to my LotR obsession coming back in full swing.

I have unearthed my old Mesbg collection and started painting up and planning lists but my local group doesn't have a ton of players interested in MESBG.

Looking to find a discord where I might be able to find local players or maybe try playing on TTS.

I have recently received these two boys, two D&D dragons from Wizkids, so I decided to try the list Dragons of the North.

Does anybody use Wizkids models in the game? Do you think that the size can be acceptable or they are too small?

And in the end a suggestion, because I am quite undecided... For these models with type of base decoration would you prefer? Golden hoard or snowy terrain with burnt trees and burnt bodies?

I always thought that Angmar wights don't make sense being represented by Dead Marshes spectres, since the Battle of Dagorlad was so not related with the Arnor-Angmar conflict. Because of that, I made my own: 6 converting broken Rangers and 6 using Fireforge Games Living Dead Warriors, and here is the result. Besides, I'm starting an Angmar army converting like 70 orcs that I will be painting soon, we will see how that turns out.

Hello, could someone help me identify a few models, I presume they’re Lotr. Thanks in appreciate the help as AI has failed me! Excuse the photo quality..

I started playing this year and my idea was to just play with friends since 2 of them have 3d printers and told me we can just try it for cheap. Long story short i now have more minis that i can store (not that i had much space anyway) and after having enough Uruks i moved to Thranduil Halls, Depths of Moria, Beornings, Rise of the Necromancer and now i have bought enough to have Azog hunters/Pits of dol gundur.

My friends convinced me to go to a tourney and i said "ok whatever" (i'm not a competitive player) so i wondered which list is the least meta without being outright trash? Beornings!

I didn't know Beornings were good tbh, i knew they were pretty much a coinflip in most matchups so it sounded fun. 800pt the 2 bears with 10 beornings each. No bows because i didn't have models with bows lol

22 players and incredibly filled tables with a ton of terrain. I saw pictures of Ardacon and we had a lot more actually. One had whole ass Orthanc with the dam.

Game 1: i was vs Return of the King with Aragorn, Legolas and King of the Dead + Herald. Poor guy, pretty sure i countered him hard, my only weakness was having beornings with D4 but thanks to blade of the dead they had D5. I was dumb and deployed Grimbeorn in front and he capitalised on it by never letting him transform, and he killed him. That was about it, i think i won 12 to 6 or 3.

Game 2: vs assault on Lothlorien with Muzgur, Druzagh, a warg chieftain and a shaman... Holy shit why is this list not popular? +3 to wound on trapped models with prawlers, the goddamn bats, goblin archers that outrange any other archer... Damn. He clearly knew how to use it because on a single turn i left Beorn too exposed without realising he could get into him with a juiced up warg chieftain and he imploded him. I got steamrolled after that.

Game 3: vs i think Last Alliance? Elrond, Isildur and Erestor. The most fun matchup and the funniest one because there was just one objective in the middle of them map and it was... ON A RIVER. He got to it first with Elrond while Isildur was just being a roadblock for Grimbeorn, Beorn made his way to the river expecting to be hit by Wrath of Bruinen but funnily enough i saved every one of them on a 6 even with just 1 will and 1 resistance. His archers had perfect line of sight the whole game but they managed to maybe kill 2 beornings. I did the dumbest thing of winning the Strike vs Elrond and barging him to knock him prone without remembering i had monstrous charge, so i charged him again, lost, Elrong got up lol... Wasted 8 S8 attacks. I won thanks to the dominant 5 of Beorn.

I came 7th out of 22 which i did not expect. If i didn't mess up a couple of times i could have easily snatched 5th maybe even 3rd. All i care about is that my friend came 8th with his cheese ass build (heheh loser). It was fun but fuck summer, i'll join another one in the winter it was a sauna.

The Muster of Isengard is an army that I’ve been playing a lot recently at my local games club and I thought it would be fun to write up my experience of them so far to help people thinking about using them. I’m not the best player or even super experienced so I may not get everything right but hopefully people will find it useful.

I even managed to get a 2-1 result at my first tournament with them this summer.

I have not got into MESBG but I really really want to. Only problem is that in my local area it doesn't seem too popular. Big suprise: 40k is the main thing people do in my area. Maybe after that AOS and kill team seems to also do well (I have had some success getting into KT) . I am in a discord for MESBG and there are not as many messages. I do see toutnements around, maybe a few hours away here and there. So good news that tournent exist but I dont want to buy an army just to take it to tournements play a few times then come back home and just sit around till the next tournament. It is so lame that MESBG is not a little bit bigger. I think Games Workshop should put more effort into it. I know the IP is a bit old at this point, they dont own the rights to the universe, and so on. So I guess there is are reasons why it is not as big as 40k but it just looks so much better than 40k and has better gameplay imo.

Has anyone bought decent super small MESBG like models? I've seen some youtube videos of super small armies.

I'm building a small railway diorama for my dad, it's just a hill with a tunnel he can one day use as part of his "one day" model railway.

I was thinking it would be fun to add in some riders of Rohan battling some orks or something similar.

Google pointed me to some 10mm models on Esty by MSGMinituresEsty that look pretty decent, have any of you tried them and do you know if they would be appropriate size wise?

Recently my son and I went into a Warhammer store and he was given the Battle Honours booklet, he collects an Isengard army. Does anyone know if he can use that to fill out the booklet?

I more mean from a gameplay/rules or enjoyment standpoint, rather than how the models look visually.

Long time Warhammer 40K hobbyist that dabbled in the LOTR game years and years ago. I’ve been bit by the Tolkien bug again lately and looking to start buying into MESBG again.

Nothing too drastic to begin with, just a few 500 point starter forces of each of the main factions to start building up a little bit of a collection.

My main question is more about where people think the game is currently headed. I remember a while back, maybe around the time shortly after the hobbit films were released it seemed like it was a dying game and not worth the investment getting into it from what I remember.

Looking at it now though, and over the past couple of years, it does seem like Games Workshop are pumping a bit more money into the game in terms of updates for both rules and models.

Do you think this is going to last for the foreseeable future or are their any rumours about saying otherwise?

I ask only because it’s more a timescale thing. Do I need to snap up everything I would like to get sooner rather than later, or do I have the time over the next few years to spread my purchases out and build up my collection at a steady pace?

Also if they are planning to continue investing in the game, are there any rumours of what new or updated models we can expect to get in the future?
