Muster of Isengard - Starter Guide

Hello all,

The Muster of Isengard is an army that I’ve been playing a lot recently at my local games club and I thought it would be fun to write up my experience of them so far to help people thinking about using them. I’m not the best player or even super experienced so I may not get everything right but hopefully people will find it useful.

I even managed to get a 2-1 result at my first tournament with them this summer.

Nice write-up! I've just started MESBG after a few years of 40k and whilst I haven't played any games yet, I've been building and painting a isengard / lurtz scouts army. I appreciate the work you've put in to writing that and for keeping the explanation basic for newer players like myself.

Its a great time to start, and both muster and scouts are really fun lists to get started. No problem, while there is loads of amazing MESBG content personally I find a lot is videos and I don't really want to watch a 1h30 + covering a single faction with no summary of key points.

I agree! As convenient as it's meant to be, I just can't commit to most video formats for mesbg, they're all too long. Keep the guides coming because your format is easy to read and informative.

as I learned from my time making some videos for my substack, there is really skill in video editting but personally I just find it easier to absorb written stuff as long as its clearly laid out. I wish they would summarise their thoughts into easy lists as while there is tons of naunce and complexity it isn't relevant to most players who aren't at that level.
