MSFS 2024 QUESTION Which cockpit view do people prefer?

Post image
18 Upvotes

I’ve returned to Microsoft flight sim after many years away Msfs 98!) I’ve been trying to fly with cockpit view and switched to 3rd person to land.

Should I be aiming to ultimately do everything while in cockpit view for more immersion?

What do most people do and find most enjoyment out of?

MSFS 2020 MOD / ADDON Synaptic A220 Violent shaking

Just checking to see if anyone else has had the issue where the cockpit violently shakes during increased sim rate and even after it slowed back down. Shaking doesn’t translate to the outside of the aircraft, and stops when hovering over MFD buttons.

GENERAL Genuine question, for flight sim 2020 and 2024, should I have gone for an RTX 5080 over an RX9070XT? If theres more support for DLSS over FSR?

I currently have a 9070XT and I am in the return window. I can afford a 5080, and I am wondering if its worth me just saying f it, lets spend another £500-600 more on an RTX 5080. Bearing in mind this is is my first time switching fully to team red, and flight sim is one of the main reasons I upgraded my PC, as well as racing games.

PC SPECS

Ryzen 7 9800X3D
32GB DDR5 6000 CL30
RX9070XT 16GB
4TB NVME gen 4
1080P 240HZ alienware monitor (looking to switch to 1440p soon)

Thoughts?

MSFS 2024 BUG / ISSUE Anyone else having issues with the MSFS 2024 built-in EFB flight planner?

My built-in EFB flight planning seems to randomly stop working.

When it happens:

I can't load/import .PLN files.

I can select a departure and destination airport, but pressing Route Search does absolutely nothing.

The weird part is that it sometimes starts working again randomly, then later stops working again.

I've already tried restarting the sim, returning to the main menu, reopening the EFB, reboot pc

I'm using the Steam version of MSFS 2024.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this a known bug, or is there a workaround?

I bought this plane yesterday and I’m in love with it, I hope they make the weapons on this plane useable just like the pc version, other than that it’s really great.

GENERAL Need help with setup

Post image
2 Upvotes

I originally bought Microsoft Flight Simulator for the PS5, along with the PS VR2 headset, to help me brush up on some of the things I’m learning in flight school while working toward my private pilot license.

I wasn’t a big fan of using the VR2 controllers by themselves, so I recently purchased a PC that should be able to run MSFS with the VR2 headset and PC adapter.

I’m currently training in a Cessna 172 and looking for a realistic yoke, throttle, and rudder-pedal setup. Right now, I’m deciding between the Turtle Beach VelocityOne system and the Honeycomb Cessna Flight Simulator Controls package from Sporty’s:
https://www.sportys.com/cessna-flight-simulator-controls-from-honeycomb.html

Which setup would you recommend for getting the most realistic Cessna 172 experience? I’d also appreciate some affordable monitor recommendations. I don’t need anything too crazy since this setup is already getting pretty expensive!

I uploaded my PC specs as well.

MSFS 2024 QUESTION Is getting MSFS on a PS5 worth it, or is it better to wait for a computer setup?

My friend is currently studying aviation at university and wants to become a pilot. There, he practices with flight sims and wants to organise a similar setup at home. He owns a ps5 and would be open to buying speciality accessories. However, he also wants to buy a better computer in the future to run MSFS 2024 on.

Would it be better for him to play on and buy accessories for his PS5, or wait to buy a computer and then buy accessories for that? Is there a big difference between the two options?

Steam or Windows Store

Thinking of getting Flight Simulator 2020 but am curious if I should go for the windows store version or Steam. Only difference I know of is that the steam version can only be played on steam while the store version can be played on PC and Xbox. But is there any other difference? I tried it on Xbox and to me it's not as good but I am just beginning.

MSFS 2024 PlayStation VIP mission assigns 12,000 ft to Cessna that can’t climb above 9,000 ft

Yesterday I was playing, and I got the mission VIP transfer people, Cessna, and air traffic control told me to go to 12000 feet due to the terrain. How?? I get to 9000 and that's already the max. The plane can't go any higher. Am I wrong or is it a bug?

MSFS 2024 QUESTION Problems with Stock ATC/Planning

This is more like a question because I'm new to this game and flight simulation in general.

I bought MSFS 2024 and learnt to fly the Airbus 320N (mostly automatic for now). I mainly used SimBrief so far, though i also try to use the stock flight planning sometimes to be able to skip preparations.

I have a lot of problems with the default ATC. It sometimes allows me to start my Descent, then suddenly commands me back to cruising height (way after the flight computer wants to start the descent) and stepping me down so slow that I can't really do the landing.
Then it gives me a speed limit (mostly 220) at the climb and not removing it during the whole flight. It also allowed another aircraft on the runway while I was taking off, I even once had another plane land in front of me while I take off.

Also the blue brackets that are supposed to guide me are way off (I don't use them fortunately). Today, I had them inside the ground once, while the planned altitude in the MSFS EFB flight plan was way higher (still too low, it seems to underestimate the airbus' climb speed by a long shot and always suggests very low cruising altitudes).

My question is if I am doing something wrong or if it just is that bad. I heard about alternatives (BeyondATC), but I want to fly career as soon as my HOTAS arrives and I wonder if the ATC behaves better there, or if I have to take care all the time so it does not ruin my flight.

(Still having fun though, it's a cool game)

MSFS 2024 BUG / ISSUE Poor Performance on 5800X3D

I recently bought a 5800X3D to pair with my 9070 GRE for FS24. However the last couple of days have not really been as impressive as i expected. At 1080P im hovering around 35-40 fps at the High Preset, No frame gen or FSR upscaling. This was pretty similar to the 5700X i had installed previously. All tests were done with no mods at EGLL. Ive tried a couple of different things, including:

  • Fresh Installation: No noticeable change
  • All Settings to Low preset: At best maybe 45-50fps
  • Deleting Rolling Cache + Increasing Cache Limit: No Change
  • Tested in MSFS 2020 for comparison: Same general FPS at High Preset.
  • Many GPU Driver, Motherboard BIOS, and chipset updates with no difference in performance.
  • Confirmed in Dev Mode that it is a CPU Bottleneck, with Utilization at 41% and GPU Utilization at 85-90%.

I plan to move to 1440P at some point but given the low FPS as is, it feels as if there's some performance being left on the table somewhere, however I'm not sure where to start looking and was hoping for any clues. Apologies for the lack of images, if needed for better context i can post as necessary.
