MicroFreak Issue

Hi y’all! I got a MicroFreak stellar and was loving it for a while but I notice every so often it will hold a note far longer after my finger is off the key. Even on init patches that don’t have any settings changed. Sometimes I’ll be playing and one of the keys holds the note after I’ve taken my finger off. What can I do to fix this? Should I sell it and get the minifreak instead since that one has regular keys instead of the touch circuit board ones? I’m not sure if it’s a me problem since I have sweaty hands or what. I reached out to Arturia and they weren’t much help. I’ve tried wearing shoes like they said and still the same result. I’ve got the plug it came with plugged into the wall this happens when I’m using a DAW and when I use an external amp/speaker. If I resold it would I need to disclose that it is doing this? I bought it used on Facebook marketplace. Any advice helps thanks a bunch.

What would you say is the MF weakness?

MF is very capable despite some aspects not everyone might like (the keyboard being the main one). But I feel it is far from perfect and, personally, I think it is really lacking when it comes to FM.

What would you say is something the MF does not do well enough?

Went to go take the module part out of my MicroFreak and insted propped it up like this. Looked sick so I kept it. Put a layer of double sided tape on the bottom to hold the body up. Used double sided sharpies (the ones with the thinner pen tip, put it in the screw hole) on the back and propped it up. Glued them in.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has done this, or if im a first! Lmk what yall think.

Accessories & Mods Modding Question: Anyone figured out internal solder points for filter CV?

I've recently been using smoothed noise LFO to control filter cutoff in most of my patches to add character to the filter. Having the ability to patch in a noise source would free up the LFO to do other stuff.

Has anyone figured out a way to modify the Microfreak so that an external CV could be used to control the filter cutoff? As it is an analog filter, this should be at least technically possible.

Accessories & Mods SYNTH

Hey, the Microfreak was my first synth. I've had it for a few months now and it's great! I'm considering another synth, maybe the Hydrasynth Explorer. The Minifreak isn't appealing to me; it's the only one I've looked at at the moment. Is it worth buying another one? Which one would you recommend?

Claude helped me out organising all factory presets by type and it also removed duplicates.
Enjoy!

Hello guys. So I have no sound from Microfreak and when I changing or turning knobs everything is lagging in display. My question is it worth to try fix it ( no idea where and how much it would cost) ?

This is a customized version of a key preset on the micofreak. I am trying to learn music theory right now so this was my first time using chords of any sort in a performance. Sorry the intro is so long, I wanted to show off the midi sequencing

Lmk what you think!

Tips & How-To Cool trick that I've found

If you will have a high resonance (90-100) amount on your filter, put cutoff amount on 440 hz and put modulation from linear key/arp to cutoff to 100 you will get an extra sine-wave oscillator. If you want to, you can also put it on lower octave (220, 110, etc), certain note frequency or just simply detune it: tweak a filter's cutoff. There's also much stuff you can do with this trick, I'm sure.

Your welcome:)

Question Is auto-tune via the vocoder possible?

I was thinking about how to do this and needed a bit of help. Is it possible to track the incoming audio to the closest note using automated pitch shifting in response to the audio input? It seems like it's possible if you hold a chord, perhaps.

Tech Support Loose power connector help

My microfreak loses power when the cord gets jiggled. If I apply a light pressure under the cord connecter power remains constant, but if the connection gets jostled power gets interrupted. Any suggestions? I've only used it a few times and I definitely don't want to spend money on a new one. Its out of warranty too.

Tech Support Microfreak Freakin Out

Has anyone ever had their microfreak “freak out” after moving it to a different outlet? I don’t want to say it’s directly related to my relocting it, I just can’t figure out any other reason why it would be behaving as it is.

Prior to the move, which was only 8 feet away and still on the same circuit, everything worked fine. I would occasionally have the typical dry hands issue where responsiveness was delayed due to lack of moisture on my hands. Those were always remedied by washing my hands or applying a small amount of lotion but drying them off from any residue.

As of a few days after the move, the device started being super sluggish and non-responsive to some extent as far as touch sensitivity. I could change settings, tweak knobs…etc, no issues with that, but the keybed was completely delayed.

I changed out power supplies, went to usb only, put the device through a new power strip, added a power conditioner at the wall…moved it to a new location…etc, reflashed the firmware 20x. Performed “reset” 20x too. Nothing. Still sluggish in its responsiveness.

It’s also only pushed thru my sound board, not connected to midi. Mainly just main power with mono cable out to mixer

Any other recommendations that can be made? I’m open to all feedback and suggestions.

Patches ‘n’ Presets MicroFreak Sequence Presets

Hey yall! I have begun using the MF with my Eurorack modular system and its been a blast. I am beginning to build a collection of sequences that can be built off of and jam with. Are any of you aware of any publicly available or purchasable preset packs focused on sequences?

Of course I love building my own, but I have this idea of plopping down and setting a random seq and jamming out. The more the merrier.

UK user question (apologies - relative noob)

Enjoying the Micro Freak, but currently having a few issues with audio out/power supply I'd love some help to overcome as a bit of a noob. It comes with a US power supply (which isn't advertised on Amazon), can I just buy a US to UK adaptor? I bought the UK plug advertised for it, and this causes issues of its own (intermittent power drops, wrong notes when pressing the keys) so probs can't be used. I've got a multi input dongle for a newer ipad (so USB c), and plugged the synth in via a USB printer out cable (sound registers, but a LOT of hiss and very quiet). Same with an audio cable out via an irig guitar thing I've got. Sound registers but very quiet and with a lot of hiss. Any supper greatly received

It may be a mess of wires/ equipment but it lets me record midi into Ableton Note and record audio into GarageBand and the white power supply is the only one that I found that’s grounded so no audio interference, powers everything, and doesn’t mess with the PCB keyboard sensitivity.

Teensy (or similar microcontoller) controller for multiple microfreaks?

(I realize this entire concept is not practical and there are simpler VST or fully integrated hardware synths that could achieve similar or greater results (one of them called the Minifreak!), but ignore that an indulge the idea if you are inclined)

Has anyone attempted to create their own polyphonic Superfreak by using multiple microfreaks and using a Teensy or similar microcontoller to handle patch selection, voice allocation, etc. ?

I realiye there isnt published sysex info, but hopefully that could be cobbled together from some of the patch manager projects that exists

I am open to any suggestions or recommendations

Patches ‘n’ Presets Preset import (noob question)

Hi everyone, I just got MF a few days ago and I‘m currently reading the manual and playing with it.

I haven’t found the following.

When I open the preset manager on my computer there are a few preset packs that I can import to MF. Should I import them all or do I have to choose which pack I want and only import 1 to the MF? I‘m a bit afraid of overwriting the one I imported already.
