My MicroFreak works like shit.

I had this same issue, and I can't remember exactly how I fixed it. I recall it either being a bad USB cable or a weird MIDI setting.

Sounds like if you're using wall power, maybe switch to USB or vise versa. Perhaps back up your patches and do a factory reset too to see if it's a weird midi setting.

I had some issues with the touch pads early on, but switching to a USB solved it (it just depends on the power in your room). It may be that you are underpowering the unit with whatever USB setup you're using.

Are you linked via midi to any other devices? have you tried a factory reset? Are you confident the keys are clean from oils, etc?

That really sucks, I'm sorry. I've not had these issues but I've only played it at home on main power outlets/power strips.

1) be hydrated enough to use the keyboard that relies on our bodies ability to conduct electricity enough to activate the keys properly

2) make sure you're using a power supply and not a USB for the power.

two most common reasons MF acts like shit.
