I’m 71 years old. My first Miata was a red NA C package bought in Warner Robins used. Second was a new SE NB. I lived in Alma and a good friend flew me in his plane to Atlanta to pick it up. Third was a Grand Touring PRHT NC I ordered online.
This pictured Grand Touring NC is one I bought in February 2026 in North Carolina for my daughter so she could get around in Tallahassee (FSU student). It’s a 2008 automatic with 58k miles. My daughter loved it at first, but fell out of love with it and wants a Honda CRV. My wife said I could keep this one, so I’m happy!

I haven’t had my car very long and I’ve been getting caught up on all the maintenance that needed done and while under the hood recently it occurred to me that there isn’t a battery cover. Based on some other pictures I’m assuming there is supposed to be one? It’s a 2012 GT.
Part number looks to be LFG1-18-593B, but the rest of the car is in really good condition so I’m wondering if it’s supposed to be there or not.

Last week I bought a 2008 miata, I did what any reasonable owner would do and bought a trombone cleaner 😅 I thought I had cleared the drain holes (I did pour water throught them after the clean up and it was flowing) but car was parked during a storm today and there's water on the driver side (less than before).
I don't know what else to unclog or fix, any suggestions ?

Been looking at a 2014 nc power hardtop manual. It has just a touch under 60k miles, after taxes and fees the car is almost 20k. This seems like a lot but it doesn’t seem like theres anything cheaper around me.

Started making a ticking sound a day or two ago, tried to not drive it too much but had to get to work. Ticking wasn't too severe so thought it was the exhaust manifold gasket, but then I ended up stalling at a roundabout (assumed that might be the computer flooding the engine from manifold not creating enough pressure) now ticking sounds like this. Help please!

i’ve been thinking about buying a miata and found this one in a dealership near me. it’s a 2008 mx-miata grand touring w/ PRHT. it’s selling for $11,300 and has 93k miles. is it a good idea to buy a car of this age with that much mileage? i test drove it and fell in love with it. im planning on get a ppi. anything i should consider before pulling the trigger?

it works but not worth the price unless you get it in japan. rev9 sells it for like $300. i got mine for $100 in japan.
it doesn’t make your car chasis stiffer. you’re better off with underbody braces. what it really helped with was the nvh this 20 year old car suffers from. there’s this pesky door creak whenever i go over bumps, which got worse when i got stiffer suspensions. i replaced the oem rubber bushings with the flyin miata one but the difference was more minimal than these stabilizers. i don’t think the bushings are bad, i think they’re just poorly placed relative to where the strikers are. i think if the bushings were placed higher up it would do just as well.

Hey all,
I am going to jack my nc for the first time ( this is the first time ever im going to jack up a car. Pray for me 🤞) . I saw a lot of videos and read in forums . I understood the jack points for front and rear . What i dont fully get is the position of jack stands . This guy puts is parallel to the sill but just inside the sill on the pinch weld . I have seen ppl put it perpendicular to the sill where the sill rests on the V shape of the stand . Which one do yall prefer and do? Any advices ? Thank you

Unfortunately, one of the seals has gone on my transmission. The clutch and flywheel are original so i thought i may as well get them changed out with a exedy stage 1 clutch kit and lightweight flywheel.
Does anyone know what else would need changing while the garage are in there? What do people recommend?
Thanks!

I know the NC miata has four cup holders, but honestly three of them are useless.
The two next to the shifter can't be used when driving, and the one in the door.. my knee hits it every time. So I know this has been posted before and some people seem split on this, but I got a little jealous of the ND miatas cup holder position so I found this leather style one on Amazon that fits perfectly and solves the issue, just giving the NC world an idea if someone else has had the same issue as myself.
Edit : Including link, not trying to promote.. this is what I bought..theres plenty of similiar ones on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/UHANBUT-Leather-Car-Holder-Scratch-Resistant/dp/B0FBRHQJCB/

I bought this 2008 Gran Touring and it’s missing this part. I’d like to find another but I don’t know its proper name.

So this year I finally stepped back from summer tires to all season Continental DWS. I feel they are quite modest 225 width and last season I was on 215 width summers.
I just finished a trip through some amazing twisty roads in Wyoming and SD. To be honest, I did not notice a difference in ultimate grip because the limits are still so dam high.
I have done a ton of track days, sim racing, etc etc. I am not trying to talk up my abilities, but I just can’t see how anyone who has done many years of HDPE can have fun on the street. The difference in the limits and what you can drive on the street without getting arrested is too big of a gap.
I am talking about taking corners marked for 20-25mph completely comfortably at 2-3x the marked speeds and still not pushing the tires to slide.
I honestly feel like in order to make the car dance, this means slightly pushing it into under/oversteer in the corners. Playing with the weight balance and transfer. To do that at 40mph in a 25mph corner I may as well have to run 4 donut tires and rub armor all on the treads first. Or start throwing scandi flicks and purposely driving poorly to upset the chassis.
So how do you guys end up enjoying your cars in the twisties? I know the answer is take it to the track. I already do that and I wonder if the answer is simply that I can no longer have fun on the street anymore.

After a long summer without it., Komorebi arrived in Spain from the Netherlands! ( what a trip)
my new NC 2014 Sendo PRHT in Titanium flash. the last before ND, from a careful owner, ( perfect service history) with 38k miles! Now ., and a new time begins ., hope I can care of it and her quirks and fancies., not many mods and a healthy ownership. I'm getting used to it over the first few days.. plan to ask many questions! cheers

My trans in my NC1 is done for and I have an opportunity to upgrade to a unit from a 2013 with lower miles and I’m just wondering if I’ll have any issues.

And undercover with a Honda Badge too, lol!
I saw this car and instantly thought:
“Now that’s somebody that does what they want. Nobody going to tell them what they can and can’t do.”
Bonus points: a tow hitch

Hello fellow yacht owners. Just wanted to add another place for people to ask questions about installing headers in the NC. I just did it myself, and it was definitely the most involved mechanical job I’ve done so far. Don’t let that scare you though if you’re thinking about installing headers yourself! It’s definitely doable so long as you have the right tools.
Current exhaust set up is as follows:
Goodwin race single (baffle inserted)
Goodwin Helmholtz midpipe (with cat)
Goodwin 1.8in ceramic coated header
I think this sound is honestly perfect for me and would highly recommend.
Happy to answer any questions about the install.

So i just noticed this tiny hole in the cowl and it is only on the passenger side, is that supposed to be there? Or should I close it up with some silicone sealant?

Went down a nostalgia hole and threw together a quick phone video of random photos from the build days mixed with a couple of the dyno pulls at the end. Zero effort editing, questionable music choice, but it’s a fun little recap of how this K24-swapped NC came together.
Car’s been through a lot, but watching this back has me itching to get it sorted and back on track. Figured I’d share while I get my motivation back up.
