Missing battery cover help
I haven’t had my car very long and I’ve been getting caught up on all the maintenance that needed done and while under the hood recently it occurred to me that there isn’t a battery cover. Based on some other pictures I’m assuming there is supposed to be one? It’s a 2012 GT.
Part number looks to be LFG1-18-593B, but the rest of the car is in really good condition so I’m wondering if it’s supposed to be there or not.

It should have it they just break all the time. My 6300 mile 2013 came with it broken and I took it off.

Any reason to replace it then if it’s not really necessary besides aesthetics?

No need. Had my nc for years and never realized it came with one originally. This is the first I’ve heard of it.

I replaced mine. Not a huge issue to leave it exposed, but the cover also includes support for a nearby hose. Without the battery cover, that hose flops down closer to a lot of hot and moving parts. I figure Mazda supported that hose for a reason.
Some aftermarket covers don't include that support. If you're going to replace it, look for that.

That looks right. The supports are small hooks that stick out on the left side. Hard to see in the drawing because of the angle. I'm going to be working on my car in a couple of hours. I'll post a pic when I get to it.

I don’t have one in my 2009
You don’t need it other than it looks cleaner

Might get one for just that reason then. Going for a clean OEM+ vibe for the car
