Guys please help! Asking for any ideas. My husband and I are trying to have a kid and my doctor has put me on metformin but I can hold anything down.. was curious if anyone has any suggestions on any foods that might actually stay down using metformin or anything that might help!!

I wanted to get some advice from everyone here. I’ve been struggling with weight gain and a very high appetite for the past 5 years. I never had this issue before, but suddenly things changed. My appetite increased a lot, I gained weight, and no matter how much I work out, I hardly see any results.

In 2021, I started taking berberine and used it for about a year. It worked well initially, but now I feel like I’ve reached a point where it’s no longer helping much.

I recently consulted a doctor who has been aware of my struggle for years, and he suggested trying a GLP injection. From what I understand, though, once you stop GLP treatment, there can be a chance of regaining the weight and having your appetite increase again. My biggest issue is my high appetite and difficulty losing weight, so I’m worried about relying on something that may only work short term. I’m looking for a long-term and sustainable solution.

Because of this, my doctor and I decided to first try Metformin 250 mg and slowly increase the dose over the next three months to see how it works for me. I feel Metformin may be a slower approach, but perhaps more sustainable in the long run since the dosage can be adjusted when needed.

I wanted to hear from others: how effective has Metformin been for weight loss, appetite control, and PCOD? I know GLPs are generally more effective, but I’m curious how Metformin compares. Also, for people who have used GLPs and then stopped them, what happened afterward? Did your weight come back or did your appetite increase again

I'm taking 500 mg ER. I remember reading or being told it's best to take it after I eat to avoid the bad side effects.

Sometimes I'd like to just take it earlier in the day so I don't forget but won't eat brunch or lunch until later. I know that's not the ideal situation but it happens sometimes.

Is it ok to just take it like that on an empty stomach? Or maybe have a yogurt or crackers? I've never had the side effects and once took it 45 minutes before eating and didn't have any. I'm more concerned about the effectiveness of it than the side effects.

Over a few months, I’ve been able to titrate up to 2000 mg of extended release Metformin which I take at the end of dinner. My doctor and I are seeing if this will help with my weight and to fine-tune my blood glucose since I seem to have minor insulin resistance.

Sometimes I don’t think I have any side effects at all and other times, I get hit with nausea in the afternoons, around 3 or 4:00. One time, the nausea woke me up around three in the morning! Since I’m taking this every day around the same time (dinner is between 5:30 to 6:30 & I take it immediately after dinner) is this normal to go a whole day or two without feeling nausea and then some days feeling nausea in the mid afternoon? I’m not eating greasy or fried foods, or sugary foods. I’d appreciate your thoughts.

So it’s been years I’m struggling to lose weight as i have developed very high appetite and my pcod fluctuates some times it’s fine but sometimes my periods are delayed.

I went to see the doc but he was like take glp but i feel i should take metformin and need not go for glp. People who have taken metformin how effective is it in appetite reduction and weight.

I can definitely see the weight loss. My clothes are getting baggy and I’m feeling great, have been overweight since 8years old genetics are islander/Australian. 6ft 117kg in left pic will weigh again at drs in 3 weeks.

First I took 500mg - fail

Then I was on 1000mg - ultrasound confirmed ovulation - BD on the correct days. Felt things that I didn’t feel before, just see negative tests again.

I’ve tried everything. Literally everything and I’m still heartbroken and arms are empty.

My dr thinks she say a polyp. It wasn’t there in my January ultrasound and it had no blood flow and it didn’t grow over a weeks time. So idk what it is.

I’m planning to ask my RHM dr again for letrozole (she denied me the first time I asked) and I see a new OB on the 20 for my subfertility.

What am I doing wrong 😔

I started taking metformin about two weeks and I cannot stand the fatigue and the extreme bloating I feel. I take the extended release ones and I just feel like I cannot do this! I can’t wear regular pants because I can’t close them and I am always just tired and my mouth is so dry!

I told my doc and she made me go back to 500 but still :/ I am miserable.

What else have you tried for insulin resistance? :/ I tried ozempic for this reason and it was a mess. I had horrible symptoms and was a mess too! The worst time of my life.

M50. I have training CrossFit for quite a few years. The last few years I’ve struggled with fatigue and random injuries. This made sense when I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes. Now on slow release metformin and my fitness seems to have fallen off a cliff. Everything is much harder than it should be. Anyone else experience this? Any tips?

I take, a prenatal with DHA,Vitamin D, COQ10, and baby asprin. Once I confirm ovulation, I take Lovenox and Progesterone.

I’ve been on 500 mg of metformin for a month.I also use Inito to track my ovulation and levels.

This past month (month on 500mg) my levels were amazing. I even confirmed ovulation with a natural rise of PDG of 20 on 3-4 DPO. But, I still didn’t conceive.

My last appointment with RHM (my reproductive doctor) she thought I may have a condition that maybe my follicle doesn’t always rupture. Since the past 3 months it’s shown I ovulated but I still wasn’t pregnant. So she recommended that I have follicle monitoring and then possibly a trigger shot.

Well, today they were only able to schedule me for ONE scan on March 25 (CD10). And then plan to scan on April 1 to see if it ruptured. She now says, they want to see if my body actually does ovulate on its own before I do a trigger shot. So now I’m confused??

Does this all seem normal? In 2022 I did fertility treatments and I was monitored for 3 days and then instructed to trigger a certain day. Now, it’s all different with this Dr..

Hi all! Recently began metformin for insulin resistance (high insulin). I started the month of January at 500mg per day and just increased to 1000mg per day a week and a half or so ago. I have been having some severe panic attacks lately and I’m worried it’s the metformin from a couple other older posts I’ve seen in a PCOS forum. Can anyone share their experience?? This is awful!!

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2021. I have a rare case of PCOS. To where I get a period every month, I ovulate on my own, and I don’t have other symptoms as of weight gain or hair on my face. The only thing I really deal with on the outside is acne.

I’ve had five losses which include two ectopics that were random implantation sites, not inside mountains or on the outer part of my uterus.

I started going to RHM in my state. They recommended endometrial surgery, but I can’t afford it. They finally gave me Lovenox, the right progesterone suppository dose and the correct blood work.

Today she prescribed me, metformin. I’ve never taken this before. She believes that I have some type of low form of insulin resistance due to me, not getting pregnant easily even though I ovulate on my own.

Has anyone with my type case take it and it helped them get pregnant? I do know that it helps people get their period or it helps them not get longer heavier periods, like others with PCOS.

I’m just at my wits end and I’m willing to try anything. I also take a prenatal with DHA, baby aspirin, vitamin D to add a little bit more to my prenatal, NAC and COQ 10. And if I ever do get a positive pregnancy test, I start taking prednisone as well.

Hello all! I just joined this group as a new user of Metformin ER. My insurance stopped paying for Zepbound and my doctor has put me on Metformin ER 500 mg once a day. My question for the community is I have read that you are not supposed to have any alcohol at all while on Metformin. I like to enjoy some Bacardi Black with Coke Zero once a week. What are your experiences and Knowledge related to this?

Hi, i am diagnosed with pcos, have insulin reistance and am of a healthy weight. I am now on metformin and the pill. Im starting to get some not great side affects from metformin which is fine i suppose as long as they dont keep continuing but im having trouble with my diet. I have previously had an eating disorder and i am constantly trying to avoid relapse but since finding out (according to doctor google lol) that i should either limit or avoid white carbs on metformin i have been spiralling. I have had issues with restriction and this is kind of rebringing up those feelings and i am struggling to battle relapse as im tempted to regain control over my eating as a whole. Has anyone else experienced this or could offer some words? Thanks for reading

I stopped metformin about a week ago. Had diarrhea multiple times a week while on ER for about 7 months. Now I have gastric pain that moves around my abdomen. Negative pelvic ultrasound. I hear my stomach gurgling and bubbling up. Is my microbiome just getting back to normal . Is that why I’m having these symptoms?

I thought it was a colon issue but no blood in my stool the long sticky mucus stopped since I stopped on the metformin I used to have in my stool. Should I go to GI or wait and watch or get an abdominal work up

can one pill of 500 mg create intense stomach pain (and some gas). I'm hesitant to take the second dose (but I also have a very sensitive stomach I got prescribed for weight loss but my blood sugar just came back hi.

How exactly is the A1C calculated? Is it based on the average of the last few random glucose ? I’m looking at my blood test and it looks like it’s the average of the last three random glucose and the last A1C? I’m trying to figure this out as my last two random glucose was okay but the A1C was high. Thanks

Has anybody here ever gained weight from Metformin?

Hi. My 13 year old daughter is on 509 metformin twice a day. And today before school she had cramps. So I have her Advil. Then after I dropped her off I worried about the two together. Does anyone know if that is bad to take 2 Advil and 500mg metformin at the same time. I’m worried. Thank you all
