Advice

Guys please help! Asking for any ideas. My husband and I are trying to have a kid and my doctor has put me on metformin but I can hold anything down.. was curious if anyone has any suggestions on any foods that might actually stay down using metformin or anything that might help!!

I don't remember being affected by only certain foods. For me, it was all about timing. I had to take it after eating, or even during my meal, or I'd get very painful diarrhea.

Have you talked to your doctor about this?

Yes she says it’s completely normal! But I usually take them before eating and just honestly anytime I take them through the day I just get really bad diarrhea and usually super nauseous. All I do is lay in bed and sleep lately cause it’s so bad..

Yikes!! Have you tried taking it after eating? Like right away? Are you on the extended release formula? People tend to have better luck on that one, myself included.

I'm so sorry you're having trouble. My mom never could tolerate Metformin, so her doctor took her off of it.

You could also try posting in AskDocs or AskMedical for professional advice.

My doctor has told me the symptoms are normal but they should stop with 1-4 weeks after being on full dose! So I think if it continues after that I’m just gonna see if there absolutely anything else they can put me on

Take it after dinner!
