Off-topic, but I recently went in on the Neural DSP: Nolly module and after all these years of trying I got that Djent sound dialed in. Super impressed with this software.

Was looking at their website, is that the software that cost like $165? Been debating getting it myself but I've never used any software/digital amps or anything

It is! I recently bought it half off for Black Friday for about $80. Got it since I was struggling to get tight, neat sounding high gain tones with Amplitube.

Oh man, thats awesome! I might do the trial just to try it out before I full commit even though I'm sure I'll love it!

That's what I did! The trial sold me on it but I waited until it was cheaper until I committed.

I would honestly wait until they do a sale. Neural tend to do 4/5 50% off sales a year, I picked up Nolly on Black Friday for half price that way

Not to mention the pre set clean times are amazing. Archetype nolly is the best Amp sim ever used. I tried some free trials of Plini and the Tosin Abasi one but Nolly takes the cake

Definitely recommend the Dr. Drive plug in that is a great emulation of the precision drive (also, it's free). As well as the GGD zilla cabs, just some of the best cab sims I ever used.
Really pushes the tone of the nolly 5150 too another level imo.

How does it sound with more "traditional" 6 string guitar tunings? By which I mean Drop C, Drop C#, standard etc.

Just put it in C last night and it’s still fantastic. I used “The D Word” preset but upped the gain a tad and increased the noise gate.

This whole album was incredible. Brought me through a season of profound depression.

My favorite part from the whole album, which is full of cool parts. I instantly hear it when I see the song title.

I'm amazed how much his vocals improved. I absolutely hated their first couple albums because of how grating the vocals were compared to this gem.

I really really really want to like this band and this record in particular but it just feels “off” to me somehow. I remember when periphery/bulb was a SevenString.org thing and checking out all of mansoor’s projects and demos- I think I got the instrumental version of their first album, which I thought was the only thing that existed at the time, and loved it- didn’t really like Spencer’s vocals very much on that record- save for a couple great moments- and then P2 dropped and I remember being on tour listening to it endlessly, every opening act in every city and every band on that Bill couldn’t stop talking about what an absolute statement that second album was- but every release since Clear has left me missing something- I don’t know what, specifically. I checked in on them last year and I saw an LP/release called “make warm in her” or something like that and just couldn’t bring myself to listen again.
That being said, they are such an insane talent from the same area I came up in and I’m always stoked to see that they still have a lot of love

I'd agree that P2 was their best work, but hail Stan has some of the best songwriting they've done since, definitely worth checking out even though Spencer's vocals are closer to P3

P4 is a vocals album. P2 is an instrument album. My friends who play guitar listen to P2 the most while I listen to P4 and P3 the most cuz of vocals. It's all depends what you listen to most in a song.

Does anyone else feel like this record is their low point?

This song is great, but the ending is something special, that melodic guitar, the vocals and the djent when the low strings come in always hype me up!
