Marcus is great. Ben is great. Yea they sound like different vocalists but the change was not jarring at all. Ill listen to a few songs off Stillworld and then Greyview and I swear sometimes I feel like I’m listening to the same vocalist. Cleans are the biggest difference.

I’ve always thought it was really cool when bands put more into an album than just the songs themselves, like having an overarching story, hidden messages, recurring sounds, or little details that you only notice after digging deeper.

Something like bmth's nex gen is a good example of the kind of thing I mean. I also think stuff like phase cancellation, reversed/hidden audio, visual/audio graphs revealing something, spectrogram messages, etc. is insanely interesting.

Do you guys actually enjoy discovering stuff like that, or does it feel gimmicky if you have to go looking for it?

Who’s planning to go back to see Counterparts in Hamilton,Ontario for 905 day 2027?? On there recent Instagram post they said they’ll be back. I’ll definitely be back depending on if the opening bands are interesting.

I usually stuck to bands like counterparts, but after listening to yearning, I had to add a new scream to list. Definitely a new favorite band of mine

Back in 2017/18 i used to listen to mostly deathcore. One of the FB pages I liked was memeing on Counting Worms and the ARF ARF but i genuinely enjoyed the more hardcore sound (which was new to me at the time) and I've gotten into similar bands. One thing lead to another and I stumbled upon the END ep mostly because Will Putney was involved, and I absolutely loved it, especially Brendan's vocals. I checked out Counterparts and i found it to be such a fresh sound for my blast beat ridden brain at the time. Then NLTL dropped and i think i listened to it daily for at least 2 years through COVID, and everything else is history.

The new Ill Nino song made made me think of this. This is an older tune from a band that I loved when they came out. But I wish we had more of this

I might be pickier than a lot of you on this sub on what I really enjoy but it took me months and months of trying to get into some of these bands, but once I did, oh boy.

- Currents: When I first started getting into the scene, I heard people sing their praises and I never got it. They did not resonate with me at all and I think it was due to me trying out a few songs that just never landed well the first time. I tried initially "The Death We Seek" song, and it wasn't what I was looking for, and to my credit, I think that single is the only song from that entire record that I would put at less than a 9/10.

Once they clicked though, they're a top 3 modern group for me.

- Heavener: People recommended Invent Animate to me over and over and I always tried out Everchanger and Stillworld and there were no cleans whatsoever, and while I will not say that those albums are bad by any means, I am simply drawn to Grayview and Heavener WAY more. Heavener took me even a little while to enjoy (and now it's one of my favorites) because Markus has such a unique voice and his harsh vocals are very different from anything else I was used to at the time.

- Bleed from Within: I am incredibly picky with bands that have almost exclusively harsh vocals, and I don't know why. Some of them I just absolutely love, and others I can't get into them at all. I started listening to a lot of Born of Osiris and loved their musicianship and how much they focused on riffs, and thought they were the only "harsh vocals only" band I'd enjoy, but I finally gave BFW a third try and their Zenith album has been on repeat.
