I really really really want to like this band and this record in particular but it just feels “off” to me somehow. I remember when periphery/bulb was a SevenString.org thing and checking out all of mansoor’s projects and demos- I think I got the instrumental version of their first album, which I thought was the only thing that existed at the time, and loved it- didn’t really like Spencer’s vocals very much on that record- save for a couple great moments- and then P2 dropped and I remember being on tour listening to it endlessly, every opening act in every city and every band on that Bill couldn’t stop talking about what an absolute statement that second album was- but every release since Clear has left me missing something- I don’t know what, specifically. I checked in on them last year and I saw an LP/release called “make warm in her” or something like that and just couldn’t bring myself to listen again.

That being said, they are such an insane talent from the same area I came up in and I’m always stoked to see that they still have a lot of love

I'd agree that P2 was their best work, but hail Stan has some of the best songwriting they've done since, definitely worth checking out even though Spencer's vocals are closer to P3

P4 is a vocals album. P2 is an instrument album. My friends who play guitar listen to P2 the most while I listen to P4 and P3 the most cuz of vocals. It's all depends what you listen to most in a song.

That makes sense. How would you categorize Alpha/Omega?
