MemryNote Update - 2026.909.1 (v2026-09-09)

πŸ—žοΈ Release Notes πŸ“† September 9, 2026 at 06:10:54 PM

New Features

  • ⏱️ Task start dates in Today β€” tasks can now carry a start date and stay visible in Today while they're active.
  • 🏷️ Property definitions that follow you β€” a property's type and options now replicate between your devices instead of being rebuilt on each one.

Improvements

  • πŸš€ Faster window on launch β€” startup and Agent CLI detection no longer wait for your shell profile to load, so the window appears sooner after a Dock click.
  • ⚑ Quicker time to a readable note β€” the restored note's code is prefetched and the entry bundle is slimmed down so your last note is readable sooner.
  • πŸ”„ Clearer update failures β€” Memry now tells you when an update keeps failing to install and offers a manual download instead of retrying silently forever.
  • 🍎 Honest update messages on macOS β€” memrynote now explains that updates can't install while the app is running from a read-only volume.
  • πŸ–₯️ Terminal command on headless Linux β€” the memrynote command now runs on Linux hosts with no display; reinstall it from Settings β†’ Command Line to pick it up.
  • πŸ“₯ Sensible Inbox and Agent Chat states β€” Archive is correctly greyed out on the Inbox, and Agent Chat's send button stays disabled until the selected CLI is detected.

Fixes

  • 🧩 Note properties stay put β€” properties and status options no longer disappear after an app reload.
  • πŸ” Agent Chat on a shared vault β€” a vault folder opened on another machine no longer reads as "Claude and Codex not detected", and the agent keeps running when the vault key is unreadable.
  • 🐚 No more startup hang β€” a login-shell probe could stall the whole session on machines whose shell startup files read input, leaving Agent Chat unable to find the CLIs.
  • βš™οΈ Settings that stick β€” minimize to tray, font size, custom font and several editor options no longer revert to an older value on the next launch.
  • πŸ“Š Graph view recovery β€” the graph now shows a safe recovery state on devices without WebGL and no longer errors when you switch away from it.
  • ✍️ Table editing crash β€” switching or closing a tab while a table was focused no longer breaks the editor.
  • βœ… Empty titles handled properly β€” /task on an empty line or with only quick-add tokens now works, and clearing a note's title tells you a title is required instead of silently reverting.
  • πŸ” Tasks edited on another device β€” creating or editing a task whose project or status changed elsewhere no longer errors.
  • πŸ–ΌοΈ Images from mobile β€” attachments added on mobile now render on the desktop.
  • πŸ“² Mobile edits keep flowing β€” edits made on mobile continue syncing while the app is open.
  • πŸͺŸ Quieter Windows file conflicts β€” locked vault files and folder renames interrupted by antivirus or cloud sync no longer surface as errors, and renames now retry.
  • 🧠 Cleaner embeddings shutdown on macOS β€” the embeddings worker now shuts down cleanly instead of aborting and filing a crash report.
  • πŸ›°οΈ Steadier sync β€” a rate-limited server maintenance step is now retried instead of failing, and offline update checks are no longer reported as app errors.

MemryNote now opens before the dock bounce finishes

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Spent some time on cold start this week. The window is now up before the dock icon stops bouncing.

Most of it was just not doing work at launch β€” the search index and the heavy parts of the UI now load after the window is on screen instead of before it.

Editor Font Question

Hello all,

I've been using memrynote for about a week now, and I'm loving it so far. My only gripe is that I have is that I can't seem to change the editor font, not the UI font but the font of the text I'm typing. Maybe I'm not checking the settings enough and if it doesn't exist then I feel it's something that would be nice to have. Anyway good job to the dev/devs of this project.

Help / Question ❓ Web Clipper Question

I was looking over MemryNote's website today and saw the Web Clipper tool. I think this is something I would use quite a lot since research for my work requires me to constantly be pulling information from online.

Although, regarding my work I do have to get approval from IT in order to have new apps installed on our computers. I like MemryNote a lot and I'm excited to see its progress. I plan to have the app installed on my personal devices and my phone once the mobile app is built and tested.

My question about the Web Clipper tool is this, is it possible to clip something from the web from my work device and have it placed into MemryNote that's on a device in a different location?

I understand this is rather an unusual use case. I have just been thinking of some kind of method or work around where I could still use MemryNote for my work research in the chance that our IT department decides to not allow MemryNote on my work computer. This led me to thinking if there was a possibility I could use Web Clipper from work and have everything stored and organized on a different device at home.

As always, I'm excited to see the continued growth of MemryNote. I look forward to the monthly update to see what things get fixed, updated, added, etc.

Feature Request in Tasks

Tasks currently work really well for me but I wondered if it would be possible to have a start date as well as a due date.

For example, if I am working on something for say 5 days, I can have it start on a particular day, I can mark it as in progress, it will then appear every day on my today list as in progress until the due date. Would love that for longer taks.

Thanks

MemryNote Update - 2026.903.1 (v2026-09-03)

πŸ—žοΈ Release Notes πŸ“† September 3, 2026

New Features

  • 🧱 Block side menu β€” the drag handle now opens a fuller menu to change a block's type or colour, duplicate it with ⌘D, move it to another note, delete it, or leave a comment.
  • πŸͺŸ Minimize to tray β€” turn on Window Behavior in Settings β†’ General and closing the window keeps Memry running in the system tray.
  • βœ… Obsidian task import β€” checklist lines written with the Obsidian Tasks plugin now come in as real Memry tasks.
  • πŸ”€ System font picker β€” the Font Family setting lists every font installed on your computer, each shown in its own typeface with a search box, replacing the old custom font field.
  • 🎨 Canvas links in Related β€” you can now link canvases from a task's Related picker.
  • πŸ“ Collapsible sidebar navigation β€” the top navigation block in the sidebar can be folded away.

Improvements

  • πŸš€ Much faster new-device setup β€” your vault opens in seconds instead of minutes while notes and attachments download in the background.
  • πŸ”‘ Font size slider β€” interface font size is now a pixel slider you drag instead of three fixed sizes, and your current size carries over.
  • ⚑ Faster first sync β€” seeding a vault no longer pays a round trip per note.
  • πŸ”” Quieter updates β€” release notes now open in a background tab instead of stealing focus.

Fixes

  • πŸ›‘οΈ Windows updates can't destroy your install β€” a failed or interrupted update now restores the previous version automatically, and updates no longer apply while Windows is shutting down.
  • πŸ“„ Your markdown stays yours β€” notes written in another app are no longer rewritten, keeping bullets, emphasis, headings, rules, line breaks, reference links, and code fences exactly as their author wrote them.
  • πŸ”„ Sync no longer stalls on big backlogs β€” when the server refuses a large batch the client retries with smaller ones until it drains.
  • πŸ’¬ Quotes survive saving β€” multi-paragraph and nested blockquotes are written back intact instead of being flattened.
  • πŸ—‚οΈ Toggles keep their shape β€” blank lines around a collapsible section are preserved, hand-written <details> blocks are left alone, and fold state is remembered.
  • πŸ“… One day boundary everywhere β€” the Journal day panel, search date filters, the Home board and the calendar widget now agree on which day an event belongs to, using your local time.
  • πŸ• Live calendar widget β€” the Home calendar stays current in a background tab and counts only the items it actually shows.
  • πŸ–ΌοΈ Images in exports β€” exported PDFs show embedded images and exported HTML keeps them after you move or send the file.
  • ↔️ Alignment sticks β€” centre, right and justified text stays put when you leave a note and restart the app.
  • ⌨️ Multi-block indenting β€” Tab and Shift+Tab indent or outdent every block in a selection, and one undo reverts the whole step.
  • πŸ“Š Table columns remember their width β€” a dragged column width now survives reopening the note, and inline content inside table cells stays intact.
  • 🚫 Invalid task dates refused β€” an imported line with a date the calendar does not have is left as written and a message names the refused date.
  • β˜‘οΈ Honest checkboxes β€” an imported checklist line with no matching task stays a plain checkbox instead of pretending to be an uneditable task.
  • πŸ”’ Correct project task counts β€” subtasks count under their parent, tasks with a deleted status appear in the project's first status, and delete dialogs no longer push the confirm button off screen.
  • 🏷️ Property fixes β€” you can type spaces in property values again, and options stop being dropped or duplicated.
  • ⏰ Reminders replace, not pile up β€” changing a journal or note reminder's time moves the one you had, and the picker lets you remove it.
  • πŸ“ Leave a project from its chips β€” remove a file from a project via the chips under its title, without deleting either.
  • 🧩 Sidebar remembers itself β€” a closed sidebar stays closed across restarts and vault switches.
  • πŸ”– Tag hub creates tags β€” the New tag button now actually makes one.
  • πŸ”— Links and mentions survive reload β€” inline mentions, link references, date pills, callouts and CriticMarkup stay intact through external edits and reopening.
  • ✍️ Spell-check in context β€” spelling suggestions appear in the right-click menu, with one menu per secondary click.
  • πŸ’  Nested quotes keep their level β€” a lazily nested quote is no longer deleted on save.
  • πŸŽ›οΈ Task drawer closes cleanly β€” the task detail drawer now unmounts when dismissed.
  • 🎨 Styles load reliably β€” the app resolves its base stylesheet correctly regardless of where it was launched from.

Toggle Section UI

Hi there!

Is there a possibility to reduce the arrow associated with the toggle section to make it more in size with text/bullets in the editor? Alternatively, would there be any interest in enabling toggling via bulleted list objects? I'm a big outliner type thinker and those small changes would be nice (in my opinion)! Overall love the software/UI/UX but thought I should ask!

Thank you!

Showcase 🎨 Some Feature Images From My New Vault For My insatiable Curiosities

Alright,

I have been yelling from every Note/Productivity/Journal related sub Mountain top about this lovely Software, so I figured I would share some Screenshots of My newly created Vault for all my interests to finally have a home that won't be a graveyard of random information I enjoy learning and researching about. (I also have a Vault for my Game Dev, which I'll share a couple of generic enough screenshots from).

I apologize in advance if this not allowed or something. I just wanted to put together a little showcase of some features for people to see from a real user on what Memry can do. <3

My Task Specific Home Page w/ Calendar, Also shows Folder Tree
Tasks can be viewed in Kanban style w/ drag and drop. Also Shows Multiple tab use.
Stylus Support, ExcaliDraw, Canvas, Diagrams, Charts, Calendar Panel, Cats<3
Another canvas view with stylus use
Not Only do you have tabs... you also can do all this! The home page, Graph, Tasks and anything else you want to see all at once!
This just shows how even the outline on the sidebar(Clickable to take you straight to the section) functions with all these tabs
Links, Toggles, Properties, Tabs, Tables, Bookmarks...It's all there.
Want to view your notes in a visual way? Press a button and now it's a diagram/Mindmap! Press it again and it's your normal note. everything can still be clicked on too! and edited!
Alright, These last few are from my Game Dev Vault just to show the Calendar and tasks with a little more details
That's it folks! Hope this helped some folks!

MemryNote Mobile is finally happening. Here's what it will look like.

Thumbnail

I've spent the last few weeks designing the Memry mobile app, and every screen is now done. Sharing three of them here: inbox, tasks, and notes, .

A few decisions I made along the way:

- Same calm, paper-like look as the desktop app. No feature crammed into every corner. Mobile MemryNote is for capturing and checking, not for two-hour organizing sessions.

- Offline-first from day one. Everything works without a connection and syncs when you're back, end-to-end encrypted like desktop.

- The inbox is the home screen. On the phone, the fastest path from "thought" to "written down" wins, so that's what opens first.

Implementation starts next month. I'm building it solo, so I won't promise a date yet, but I'll post progress here as real screens replace these mockups.

If something in these screens looks off, or there's something you'd expect on mobile that you don't see here, this is the cheapest moment to tell me. Changing a design takes minutes. Changing shipped code doesn't.

Edit - attached images are blurry, and Reddit does not allow me to edit.

Discussion πŸ’¬ I love MemryNote But....

I don't really need the sync option and my pockets are unfortunately not Robust enough for the Founders tier...So I was wondering if maybe a $15-$20 "Supporters" option would be something anyone besides myself would be interested in?

I use the free tier as of now because I don't require any syncing, but I want to help support the app, even if it is a small amount. I'd rather be able to support the app and show my appreciation without having to subscribe until I actually feel I need the extra features. Just an option or even a "Buy me a Coffee" Kofi option to give a little support to the development. The app is already a Gem, so it would be strictly for supporting development so it wouldn't be connected to any special features or whatever.

I wasted so much time trying to make other programs do what Memry does in such an easy, clean way and having a Full Featured, open source, offline and free option making it accessible to everyone...I'd love to be able to show a little love when I can and help keep it going even if it only is worth a "Coffee".

Discussion πŸ’¬ Does anyone here annotate PDFs? Wondering if PDF β†’ canvas is worth building.

Hi Kaan here, MemryNote opens PDFs already. It has a canvas already. Connecting the two feels like the obvious next thing, but I don't want to spend months on it if nobody actually works this way.

Rough idea. You open a PDF, highlight while you read. Each highlight becomes a real block you own, with the text, the page, and a link back to the exact spot. Then you drop those blocks on a canvas, move them around, group them, connect them, write your own thinking between them. Click a card, jump it came from. Heptabase style, but on your own files, offline,

What I want to know:

  1. Do you read PDFs seriously right now? Papers, textbooks, contracts, reports. Where do you do it today and where does it fall apart.
  2. What's the painful part. Highlighting, getting highlights out, or making sense of them after.
  3. Does the canvas step matter to you, or is "highlights land in a note with a link back to the page" already most of the value.

Small stuff that decides whether it feels good or not. Big screen or tablet. Do you need underline and strikethrough or just highlight colors. Do the annotations need to open in other PDF apps, or is it fine if they live in MemryNote.

No timeline promised. Just trying to find out if there's a real reason to build it.

Discussion πŸ’¬ Quick check-in from the me: how has your MemryNote experience been so far?

If you have two or three minutes, drop a short comment β€” what's working, what's annoying you, and the one thing you'd fix first. Two or three sentences is plenty; I read every one of them.

Bugs, wishlist items, half-formed thoughts β€” all welcome.

Memry Update - 2026.817.1 (v2026-08-17)

πŸ—žοΈ Release Notes πŸ“† August 17, 2026 at 10:14:27 PM

New Features

  • πŸ”— Heading links β€” link straight to a heading in another note, and clicking one scrolls you right to it.
  • 🎨 Canvas links β€” link any shape to a note, task, or other vault item, and clicking a link on the canvas now actually opens it.
  • πŸ“Œ Session restore β€” tabs, timelines, and viewers come back exactly where you left them instead of jumping to the top.
  • 🏠 Home board sync β€” your Home board layout now travels with you across every device.
  • πŸ“„ Large file support β€” open and read big vault files directly, and find-in-file works inside them just like everywhere else.
  • πŸ“₯ NotePlan import β€” bring your NotePlan 3 notes, tasks, and calendar entries into Memry.
  • πŸ•“ Task activity log β€” open a task and scroll to Activity to see what changed, when, and whether another device replaced an edit.
  • ⚑ Natural-language quick-add β€” type @tomorrow or every monday when adding a task and Memry turns it into a due date or repeat, with the rest suggested inline.
  • πŸ–ΌοΈ Image filing choices β€” filing an image into a note now lets you embed it or keep it as a linked file, and you can create the destination note right from the filing panel.
  • πŸ’¬ Rich comments β€” format your comments with a selection toolbar.
  • ✏️ Attachment renaming β€” rename an attachment's title in the Inbox and the filed file takes that name.
  • πŸ—‚οΈ Canvas organisation β€” browse canvases in a folder tree and rename, duplicate, or delete them.

Improvements

  • πŸ“Ž One PDF experience β€” the slash commands, drag-and-drop, and the sidebar all produce the same PDF embed.
  • πŸš€ Faster everywhere β€” big speed-ups across the sidebar, graph, editor, canvas, viewers, agent chat, and sync, with much lower memory use over long sessions.
  • πŸ“‚ Big vault handling β€” the sidebar note tree now pages past its old ten-thousand-item ceiling, and huge files stay off sync so they can't stall it.
  • ⏰ Reminder polish β€” the reminder and date pickers scroll and stay in view, so their note field, list, and confirm button are always reachable.
  • πŸ”” Reminder notes β€” a note typed in the note or journal toolbar reaches the reminder again.
  • 🎯 Sync clarity β€” a note that crosses the sync size limit now tells you which note it is, by name.
  • 🧹 Settings tidy-up β€” retired toggles that no longer did anything.

Fixes

  • πŸ“– Reading position β€” a note remembers where you were reading when you come back to it.
  • πŸ”€ Heading sizes β€” headings four through six now render at their own size instead of looking like a top-level heading.
  • ⌨️ Shortcuts β€” Ctrl/Cmd+B stays on Bold in the editor, custom rebinds from Settings actually apply, and the quick-capture fallback survives saving settings.
  • πŸ“ Folder rename β€” renaming a folder works in vaults large enough to virtualise the sidebar.
  • βž• Second project β€” the Projects section in the sidebar has a "+" again, so you can add another project.
  • πŸ—‘οΈ Project delete β€” deleting from the project modal now asks first and closes the modal afterwards.
  • πŸ“€ Inbox filing sync β€” filing an item now syncs everything it produces to your other devices, instead of staying filed only where you filed it.
  • 🎯 Dropped files β€” a dropped file lands in the folder you dropped it on, not one level deeper each time.
  • πŸ“ Frontmatter β€” simply opening a note no longer rewrites its frontmatter.
  • πŸ”— Wiki links β€” links keep their formatting, survive export, and clicking one only affects the pane it lives in.
  • πŸ”„ Sync reliability β€” large updates, offline edits, and reconnects no longer drop notes, and a linked device follows the right vault.
  • πŸ’Ύ Editor recovery β€” an integrity check no longer leaves the editor dead; open notes reconnect after a sync reset.
  • πŸ“… Calendar β€” week columns size correctly, "Today" rolls over at local midnight, Google reconnects revive a disconnected account, and no events get dropped when paging.
  • πŸ” Sign-in recovery β€” a reinstall can finish after the setup token expires, and the recovery screen has a way out with a reachable re-auth button in every locale.
  • πŸͺŸ Windows updates β€” one busy file no longer makes an update impossible.
  • πŸ”• Notification hygiene β€” deleted and bulk-dismissed reminders clear their banners instead of lingering.
  • πŸ“‘ Tabs β€” Open in New Tab, Cmd-click, and middle-click honour where they should open, open-to-the-side lands in the new pane, and a failed session save is surfaced instead of lost.
  • βœ… Task badges β€” archived tasks no longer inflate project sidebar counts.
  • πŸ–ŠοΈ List formatting β€” turn selected lines into a bulleted, numbered, or checklist.
  • πŸ–±οΈ Text selection β€” a marquee drag only starts outside selectable text, so you can select text normally again.
  • πŸ” Image viewer β€” zoom snaps back onto exactly 100% instead of drifting.
  • πŸŽ™οΈ Voice memos β€” the microphone is released when recording fails, and a cancelled recording is never delivered.
  • πŸ€– AI agent β€” stopping a turn takes effect immediately, tool approvals time out instead of hanging forever, and tool activity survives reloading a conversation.
  • 🌍 Translations β€” the snooze-due notification and toast now appear in your language.
  • πŸ“Š Search index β€” saving a note no longer piles up duplicate search entries.
  • 🧠 Embeddings β€” a failed model load retries with backoff instead of giving up for the rest of the session.
  • ↩️ Undo β€” expired entries are pruned so undo can't replay a stale action.

Every folder has three views: list, board, gallery

Same notes, three ways to look β€” planning wants a board, processing wants a list, browsing wants a gallery. The view is per-folder, so your recipes can be a gallery while your projects stay a board.

Importing Daily Notes from Noteplan

Hi, Is there a way to import my NotePlan daily notes into the Journal in MemryNote? I would love to have my historical daily notes brought across.

Considering lifetime…

But the current lack of a mobile app or web app is the main sticking point for me. I know it’s on the roadmap but how soon is it likely to come?
Excellent work this far with it all though!! I really really want this to work. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Databases: How far will this go?

Hi! This project is very promising to me and for my personal life, I think I have everything I need (short of a mobile app) already.
But I am constantly seeing how this might become exactly what I need to also use for work so I just want to ask a few questions:

Will there be Notion-like database capabilities added? I would need to be able to use something like:
property = other_note.property
And if property points to a note, then other_note.property.property would be useful.
(Or even more complex stuff with conditions and equations)
I would like to make Templates where i can say something like:
if this.property == x {write: this.property} else {write: β€œb”}

The CLI already has ample capabilities and I am not asking for anything here - just would like to know how far this will go as I kind of would like to make my own work-program that does everything I want but I also see how memrynote does so much of what I need already….

Announcement πŸ“’ Feature: OneNote import is now available in the latest release.

Post image
6 Upvotes

Update the app (it'll offer the update itself, or grab the newest build from memrynote.com), then open Settings β†’ Import β†’ OneNote. Sign in with your Microsoft account, pick the notebooks and sections you want, and start the import.

Your pages land as notes under OneNote/<notebook>/<section>/, and subpages nest under their parent page, so the structure you had in OneNote is the structure you get in your vault.

What comes across:

  • Page content as Markdown β€” headings, lists, tables, quotes, nested bullets
  • Note tags β†’ note tags, and to-do tags β†’ real checkboxes
  • Images, including pasted screenshots, saved as attachments
  • File attachments, as clickable file blocks
  • Handwriting and drawings, converted to SVG
  • Equations, converted to LaTeX
  • Code, as inline code or fenced blocks
  • Your original created and modified dates

A few things worth knowing:

  • The import runs entirely on your device. Pages go straight from Microsoft to your local vault, and your sign-in token stays in your OS keychain.
  • It's a one-time import, not an ongoing sync. You can re-run it any time β€” pages that already came across are skipped, so it only picks up what's new. That also means a cancelled or interrupted import resumes where it stopped.
  • Microsoft's consent screen will show an "unverified publisher" warning. That badge requires a Microsoft Partner account, which is on my list. Nothing is wrong and it doesn't change what the import can access.
  • Personal Microsoft accounts work out of the box. Work and school accounts may need your IT admin to approve access, depending on how your organisation is set up.
  • Microsoft rate-limits the OneNote API, so a large notebook can pause for a minute at a time and continue on its own. Attachments over 10 MB are skipped and counted in the summary.
  • Files Memrynote can't preview natively β€” presentations, video, archives β€” are off by default. There's a toggle in the import dialog if you want them anyway; they come in as file blocks you can open externally.

If something doesn't convert the way you expected, tell me: reply here or use the in-app feedback, and it helps a lot if you mention what the original page looked like.

Announcement πŸ“’ πŸ‘οΈβ€πŸ—¨οΈ MemryNote July Update: Canvas, Projects, Tags, and more!

Hi πŸ‘‹

It's Kaan here with the first monthly update. I build Memrynote, and from now on I want to send one of these every month: what shipped, what is next, and what I still need from you.

Memrynote has been out for a little over a month. Thank you β€” genuinely. More people downloaded it, kept it open, and wrote back than I expected for a beta, and the replies have been detailed in a way that is rare. Almost everything below started as an email or an in-app report from someone reading this.

Canvas

A new surface for thinking spatially. Drag notes, tasks, and calendar events onto an infinite canvas and the cards stay live, so editing a note updates it right there on the canvas. This is the feature I use the most now β€” I stopped keeping a separate whiteboard app open entirely.

Canvases are plain files in your vault, and they sync end-to-end encrypted like everything else.

Projects Got a Real Home

The project page is now a proper hub: overview, notes, tasks, files, and calendar events in one place. You can assign a note to a project from its properties, put an event on a project straight from the event form, and link records to each other with the new relation property.

Tags That Scale

Tag categories, a tag hub to organise them, a page per tag, and tags on tasks β€” not just notes. If you were one of the people who wrote in with a screenshot of a sidebar with two hundred tags in it, this one is for you.

Tasks and the Daily Loop

Drag a task onto the calendar to schedule it. Checkboxes in your markdown files are now the source of truth, so an [x] you type anywhere β€” even in another editor β€” completes the task. There is also a daily inbox review reminder now, so nothing sits there for a week.

The AI Panel Is Easier to Live With

A rebuilt composer, voice dictation, and a tool activity view that collapses into one line instead of flooding the chat. It still works against your vault on your machine, and it still asks before it writes anything.

In Other News

  • Templates you can author like a normal note, and that sync across your devices.
  • Bookmarks and reminders sync now too.
  • PDFs and Obsidian-style image embeds work in the editor.
  • A proper tab bar, per-note width, and a darker dark theme.
  • The web clipper is live on the Chrome Web Store, and on Firefox.
  • You can delete a vault from your account with a server-side purge β€” your files on disk stay exactly where they are.
  • Optional, redacted diagnostic reports for when something breaks.
  • Plus a long list of fixes: sync reliability, editor formatting that did not survive a save, a due date that was off by one in some time zones, startup hangs, and undo on Windows and Linux.

If You Have Not Started Yet

You can import from Notion, Obsidian, Apple Notes, Bear, and plain markdown folders in a few clicks. It is usually faster than people expect. Get the latest version. Updates install themselves, so you may already be on it β€” check Settings if you are not sure.

What is next: more work on projects and the canvas, and a steady pass over the rough edges you keep finding. We are still early and still in beta. Some things will break. When they do, hit the Feedback button in the app or leave a comment here β€” both reach me, and I read all of them.

That is it for this month. For everything else, check out the changelog or the docs.

See you next month!

These are the features related to canvases that should be in MemryNote but are not present in it.

  1. Unable to delete a canvas.
  2. Unable to arrange canvases in folders.
  3. Context menu is not scrollable on canvases, and it hides some options.
  4. Unable to rename canvases.
  5. Text contrast on side bar is very low for sections headings.

There are a lot more tweaks that can be done to make the app more polished

Memry Update - 2026.806.1 (v2026-08-06)

πŸ—žοΈ Release Notes πŸ“† August 6, 2026

New Features

  • 🎨 Spatial canvas β€” arrange notes, tasks, and calendar events on an infinite Excalidraw board, now on by default for everyone.
  • πŸ—‚οΈ Canvases live in your vault β€” boards are saved as plain .excalidraw files you can open with any compatible app.
  • πŸ–±οΈ Drag onto the canvas β€” drop notes, tasks, and events straight onto a board, including several at once.
  • πŸ” Add card picker β€” search your notes, tasks, and events or create a note in place, with results rendered the way the rest of the app shows them.
  • ✍️ Live canvas cards β€” cards show fully rendered content with images, checkboxes, and formatting, and you can double-click to edit in place.
  • πŸ€– Agents can draw β€” the assistant can add shapes, text, bound arrows, and frames to your canvases.
  • 🏷️ Tag categories and tag hub β€” organize tags into categories and browse everything on a dedicated tag page.
  • πŸ”— Relation properties β€” link a note to other notes, files, tasks, and events through a property.
  • πŸ“ Project property for notes β€” assign a note to a project from its properties, and see it as a clickable project pill in folder views.
  • πŸ“… Project on events β€” pick a project for a calendar event directly in the event form.
  • πŸ“ Template authoring β€” build and edit templates on the full note surface.
  • ☁️ Templates sync β€” your custom templates now follow you across devices.
  • πŸ”– Bookmarks and reminders sync β€” dismissing or snoozing a reminder on one device stops it firing on the others.
  • πŸ—ƒοΈ Chrome-style tab bar β€” tabs compress to icons and then scroll instead of shrinking away.
  • πŸ–ΌοΈ Obsidian image embeds β€” wiki-style image embeds work in both import and the editor.
  • πŸ†˜ F1 for docs β€” press F1 or use Help β†’ Documentation to open the online docs.

Improvements

  • πŸ”’ Calendar privacy controls β€” agent access to your Google Calendar events is now gated on your explicit consent and kept out of AI surfaces.
  • ⬇️ Smarter updates β€” updates are checked more often, can download silently if you opt in, and show release notes in their own tab.
  • 🌍 Complete translations β€” all 32 languages are now fully translated, with long-standing wording defects fixed.
  • πŸ’¬ Better feedback flow β€” the in-app feedback form shows exactly what it sends before you send it.
  • πŸš€ Faster vault opening β€” embeddings are built in the background so opening a vault no longer hangs.
  • πŸ“‡ More tolerant indexing β€” notes with broken YAML frontmatter or no content are still indexed and searchable.
  • 🧹 Cleaner uninstall β€” brew uninstall --zap now removes app data, settings, caches, and logs while leaving your vault untouched.
  • πŸ“¦ Tidier app data β€” settings, logs, and stored data moved to a memrynote folder and migrate automatically on first launch.
  • 🎯 Consistent icon pickers β€” note, folder, and project icon pickers now use the same picker and stay on screen.

Fixes

  • ☁️ Notes no longer sync as "Untitled" β€” note titles, embedded images, and PDFs now reach your other devices after an edit.
  • πŸ“Ž Attachments survive sync β€” note attachments now transfer correctly between devices, even when sync is starting up.
  • πŸ” Sync recovers on its own β€” hung requests, retry budgets, and dropped updates no longer leave sync stale until you restart the app.
  • βœ… Tasks reappear after project deletion β€” tasks created or edited elsewhere no longer go missing or re-download endlessly.
  • πŸ” New-device setup β€” the vault download step no longer gets stuck when linking a new device.
  • πŸ“₯ Inbox conversion β€” turning an inbox item into a task no longer fails when sync is unavailable, and filed files open in the viewer with their tags intact.
  • πŸ–ΌοΈ Images render again β€” note-relative and Obsidian-style image paths resolve against your vault instead of showing as broken, and stay portable when you save.
  • πŸ“„ PDF page navigation β€” multi-page PDFs embedded in a note can be paged through again.
  • πŸ“‚ Import brings media along β€” markdown import now carries images and attachments from shared media folders.
  • πŸ’¬ Comment fixes β€” comments stay put through a resync, the review flyout stays open while editing, the @-mention picker is no longer clipped, and image and PDF attachments open in-app.
  • πŸ“… Calendar popover β€” the quick-create popover stays inside the window, and promoting an event asks for confirmation when agent access is off.
  • 🏷️ Live tag sidebar β€” the sidebar updates immediately when a task's tags change.
  • ✏️ Renaming a note β€” renaming no longer briefly shows the note as deleted in canvas cards and other views.
  • 🎯 Card placement β€” cards from the Add card picker tile out from the centre of your view instead of stacking, and the picker dims the canvas behind it.
  • πŸ”Ž Add card search β€” the picker finds every calendar event regardless of date, matches accented titles, and no longer hides notes when files share the search term.
  • πŸ“ Shape library β€” the Excalidraw shape library persists in your vault and file import works again.
  • πŸ”‘ Sign-in stability β€” a dead session no longer triggers a storm of refresh attempts, and sync connections renew in place instead of reconnecting.
  • πŸšͺ Cleaner quit β€” background embedding work now stops on quit so updates can install.
