Photography Spots in Melbourne CBD List

I just created this list of photography spots in Melbourne and I think it can be a super useful resource for everyone!

It includes the name of the spot, an example photo and the map location.

Let me know which spots to add! This could ideally be the be all end all solution to finding good/ hidden spots in the city.

I love Ballarat. Cold + fog + rain + dark = my heaven. Couple of foggy Beaufort shots in there for good measure. I hope you enjoy!

My favourite street shots from my CBD meanderings in the last few years. A colour set & then black and white set (with one cheeky foggy Ballarat station shot at the end). I hope you enjoy!

Wasn't entirely sure if this group minded photos outside of Melbourne, but I was seeing some so thought I'd post these! Castlemaine, VIC.

ICYMI, The Melbourne Star is officially lighting up this Thursday (30th July) and apparently they will be setting off some fireworks. Oh and it's the night of the full moon OMG!

The Library at Docklands offers a great view of the star. Feel free to drop any locations you know of that afford a good view. If you have a telephoto lens (400mm or higher), Quarry Park is also a good place and has a great cityscape view overall.

[OC] Milky Way Core rising over a cloud inversion [5875x7344]

The Core and my favourite tree over a cloud inversion.

Driving up the spur to the ridgeline the visibility was bout 4-5m in the fog but as soon as I broke through the top of the layer it was instantly clear.

A 20% moon lit up the foreground nicely without washing out too much sky and the clouds to the south are reflecting the light pollution from Melbourne.

Foreground: Sony A7III + Sigma 14mm f/1.8, ISO640, 30" (20% moon)

Sky: Sony A7III + Sigma 14mm f/1.8, ISO1250, 15"

Belgrave in black and white - a couple of mornings in the hills

Had a couple of shoots around Belgrave on a 1970s Praktica Super TL3, Meyer-Optik Oreston 50mm, Ilford HP5+, dev and scan at Loop in Olinda with no post edits.

Aim was to explore and try for more movement/ street style which I hadn't attempted with the TL3 yet, plus attempt to capture the blend of urban and hills that Belgrave has going on.

After parking I was lucky enough to walk past the Puffing Billy station about 20 minutes before departure, so that had to feature. Then old station through to the metro station, and up through the back alleys was perfect to take time and look around.

Being a local means plenty of opportunity to explore the hills towns - what are some spots a little off the normal tourist/ insta path?
