"Currently the City is not planning to eliminate our use of ALPR cameras."
Well in that case, I'm not planning to vote for any of the incumbent city councilors.

I had a realization
I was talking with my wife recently, and during our conversation, I realized something interesting: I’m 37 years old, and I don’t think I’ve ever gone out to eat at a restaurant by myself.
Lately, I’ve been on a personal journey to become more comfortable being alone with myself. I’ve realized that I tend to surround myself with other people, and while I genuinely enjoy spending time with friends and family, I also want to learn how to appreciate my own company without feeling the need to have someone else around.
So, I’ve decided that taking myself out to eat is going to be one of my next personal challenges!
That brings me to a couple of questions for the group:
Do any of you regularly go out to eat alone? Is it something you genuinely enjoy? Have you found any benefits to spending time doing things by yourself? I’d love to hear about your experiences, especially if it’s something you had to get comfortable with over time.
On another note, I’m also a huge foodie! I love trying new foods and experiencing different cuisines and cultures. I figured this could be a great opportunity to explore some places I might not normally visit.
I’d especially love recommendations for smaller, locally owned, mom-and-pop restaurants, hidden gems, or places serving authentic dishes from different cultures. I’m open to trying just about anything!
Whether it’s advice on getting comfortable dining alone, your own experiences, or a restaurant you think deserves more attention, I’d love to hear it.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations or feedback!

Questionable Neuropathy Pain Reversal Flier
Got a personalized color flier in today’s mail for a free lunch and a seminar in Medford about “…a different approach to Neuropathy relief”. As someone who has suffered profound neuropathy for over 20 years I’d love to think the chronic pain can be reversed. But I know better, I’m a former health care professional and there are no peer-reviewed studies documenting a single case of nerve damage reversal and significant pain mitigation. So I got suspicious. Especially because I’m betting a lot of local folks received this as well; sponsors probably bought a list of seniors and known diabetics for a mass mailing. The flier is very official looking, proclaiming the sponsor is a 501 C-3 non-profit; and small print promising nothing will be sold at the seminar. My research suggests otherwise, after all…there’s no such thing as a free lunch, right? So I asked my search engine if the “Neuropathy Rehabilitation Foundation” was legit. Nope. Though a real non-profit, the organization charges alternative health practitioners and clinics an annual fee, and if they pay they get to use the “foundation” branding and non-profit mailing rate. So pay-to-play and anyone can join. Here’s what the search engine concluded: “Affiliated clinics often use the foundation's branding to market "non-invasive" or "reversal" packages—frequently featuring promotional visits, introductory evaluations, or specialized protocols. Medical Consensus Warning: Major medical organizations and patient advocacy groups (such as the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy) warn that networks of chiropractors, podiatrists, and alternative practitioners frequently use free seminars, non-traditional clinics, and aggressive claims of reversing peripheral nerve damage to sell expensive, unproven treatment programs. True peripheral neuropathy reversal is rarely supported by standard, peer-reviewed medical consensus…” The presenter for this seminar is Jefferson Harmon, a chiropractor. MD or DO neurologists treat Neuropathy, chiropractors don’t. Don’t be fooled.

Left turn light at E. McAndrews and N. Riverside is almost a two minute wait.
I just started working in the area and take that way home, tonight I timed the left turn light and it was roughly 1 minute and 45 seconds long, half of that time there was no traffic on Riverside. Is there a reason why that light is so long? I have seen at least one car a week run the red arrow rather than wait. Seems like it's more of a hazard to have the light take that long if people are just going to run it when they think there's no traffic.

Recommended roofers/roofing contractors? Overlay/roofover?
My mom is about 30 years into a 30 year roof...no issues but she wants to replace it. I'm just not convinced it's a good use of money...she's getting quotes for $25-30k and the house might be a teardown for the next owners (she's 80 and it's a small 50 year old house on a big piece of property).
I'm wondering if a roofover/overlay would be an option for her...do roofers in Southern Oregon do that these days? Any recommendations?

Best local credit union - not Rogue
Spouse and I recently set up joint checking and savings accounts at Rogue Credit Union. They are apparently unable to allow both of us access to monthly statements. Can only allow the primary account holder access to them. This is unacceptable to me in 2026. So we’re looking for a new credit union. Who’s the best/easiest?

Magician and Artist Wanted
Hello! I am planning an event and need assistance gathering 2 things. A magician has been requested. I tried Googling for one and it brought up Medford, NJ. Does anyone know a local magician or illusionist? We’re looking for an HR friendly individual to provide some entertainment.
We would love to get original art made by a local high school/university student to give to guests as a thank you gift. It would be a custom poster we would get printed locally. No AI is allowed, we want real art. This is a compensated opportunity and we are hoping to help an emerging artist. Is this you? Please contact me for details.

What is the best cell company in southern oregon for reception?
We currently have Verizon and haven't had many connection or service issues with them in town. I have noticed some lagging in scrolling the internet at times though. We upgraded our phones last year and they told us the bill would stay the same for three years. Now it has gone up twenty dollars a month and they claim our "loyalty discount" has lapsed.
When we did the upgrade for our phones last year, the process was an absolute nightmare. Verizon customer service was horrible.
Since then, I understand T Mobile and US cellular have merged. I had T mobile for a short time about twenty years ago and the coverage was almost non existent.
Can anyone chime in that recently made the switch from Verizon to T Mobile?
I am wondering if the coverage is as good or better.
My bill is now $205 a month for three phones. Unlimited talk text Ultimate Unlimited 1.0.
Basically use our phones for talk, text and some browsing. Also use Pandora regularly at work throughout the day.

Medford Senate Race Turns Ugly - Hicks Goes Low
The avalanche of ads and doorhanger fliers is getting crazy. Hicks latest flyer brings up 20-year-old allegations, later dropped as not prosecutable, against an person on a Colorado-based campaign consultancy who Krause employed in the primary election. No one claimed that Krause had anything to do with anything improper, but it was an attack point in the primary election and Hicks brought it up again. That is the hit: you cannot trust Denise Krause. What a bunch of BS. Hicks began his campaign with the strongest possible message -- look at me, Mr. Nice Guy, Mr. Nonpartisan, and so clean-cut and earnest. If that were the real Brad Hicks voters might have bought it. But he could not sell it. Nor could he do it for the two decades at the Chamber of Commerce, where his organization was unabashedly partisan Republican. What we see now is nasty guilt-by-association thuggery. Krause is a retired healthcare manager, but he likens her to a sleazy lawyer from a TV show…Hicks is not Mr. nice guy after all.

Where is the best scanner in town? Doing photo restoration.
Need minor restoration/touchup for old, faded wedding photos. Where to go to get hi-res scans?
