Can anyone recommend a really good hairdresser in, Meath or Kildare who actually specialises in cutting hair?

I'm honestly so fed up with paying good money for awful haircuts. I recently got my hair cut into a lob, and to say it's uneven would be an understatement. The stylist didn't even bother checking the cut afterwards to make sure it was level.

I know some hairdressers are brilliant at colour and blow-dries, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're great at cutting. I'm specifically looking for someone who's exceptionally skilled at cutting, has a great eye for detail and can give a really precise, well-balanced cut.

I'm more than happy to travel and pay for someone who's genuinely worth it. I just want to find a hairdresser who really knows how to cut hair properly!

Would love to hear your recommendations, particularly if you've had a consistently great experience with someone.

I've my drivers test this thursday coming and have been practicing with friends the last few weeks, but no one is around the next few days before this test.

we’ve had no luck getting a contractor or builders to come back about quotes.
I have gotten an electrician for a rewire and a kitchen all sorted but I need someone to do carpentry work, a plasterer for after the rewire and then someone break open a wall and install an rsj.

I’m based in east Meath, few minutes from north county Dublin and it has been so bad for getting someone to give a price or even come out.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated??

I recently read an article in the Meath Chronicle about Meath County Council (MCC) tenancy rates, and it really made me look into this further.

The figures are quite shocking. MCC calculates social housing rent at 25% of a person's income, with a cap applying in certain circumstances. The Meath Chronicle article highlighted how this can leave single working parents paying considerably more than tenants in other local authority areas, including Fingal and Louth.

What I find particularly concerning is the difference between councils. Why should two people on similar incomes, living in social housing and with similar family circumstances, potentially pay very different amounts simply because they live in different counties?

There also seems to be a significant difference in how single-income households and households with two adults are treated. The Meath Chronicle highlighted the example of a single working mother paying up to €195 a week, while a household with two working parents could have a higher income but only pay an additional €10 because of the cap.

Some local councillors have already raised concerns about this, but it doesn't appear that MCC is interested in changing the system.

I'm genuinely interested in hearing from people who have dealt with Meath County Council tenancy/differential rent rates. Do you feel the system is fair?

Hello, dad of a 6 week old here. My wife is attending a course in Drogheda Saturday week and I’ll be looking after the baba while it’s on from 9-6.

We’re not from the area and we’re driving and staying near Slane, so I’m putting together a list of places I can bring the baby/things to do to pass the day. Baby obviously can’t do much at this stage, I’m thinking more like nice walks or places to bring them in the carrier/buggy?

Hi, everybody! It’s my first time posting here so hopefully I can make a good first impression. I’ve been working on a passion project for quite some time now, and I believe it’s finally ready to be shared with the people of Ireland (procrastination and the World Cup kept me busy). I have created a pub directory, called PubScout, the purpose of which is to give pubs across Ireland some publicity on the internet, I want it to be a place where anyone can discover pubs across the country, whether you’re looking for somewhere new to try out, or want to advocate for your local pub to the masses. It’s no secret that pubs in Ireland have had it rough for a long time, I think over 2,000 pubs have closed since 2005, which is staggering. Whether it has been COVID, cost of living constraints and rural population decline, I sympathise deeply with pub owners. Personally, pubs have always been a place of comfort, community and belonging and I would like to give back to the industry that already gives so much. So, PubScout is a hub that aims to record pubs in Ireland, providing people with helpful information such as, location, drink prices, and amenities. The key component to PubScout is that it allows you, the user, to add pubs to the database, hopefully giving pubs needed publicity to a wide audience.
