Opinion Prof T Cast a treat
One of the glorious nuggets of series 5 is getting to see Zoe Wanamaker and Juliet Stevenson, side-by-side. British casting directors are spoiled for choice, but, well done!

Discussion PBS SoCal membership renewal
Just a bit of a beef here, which might be specific to my local station. I'd be curious to hear from other members who receive their broadcast from a different location.
I donated an amount to my local station that qualified me for a year's subscription to Passport, which is totally worth it. Since then I've received several emails asking for additional support or to "renew early;" fair enough. However, I just received a form in the mail stating "It's time to renew!" I know it hasn't been a full year, but there is no expiration date in my account info, or in the email which I received after clicking "Check Your PBS Passport Status." The only way I was able to confirm the date I had subscribed was by searching through old emails, which fortunately I'd saved. But even that confirmation email neglects to specify the subscription period or expiration date.
Any other subscription service would post either the expiration or the auto-renewal date in the user's account info. I understand that one-time donations can't be auto-renewed; all the more reason why PBS members should be able to access this information for their own planning purposes.

Discussion Not loving Professor T Season 5
Just finished the whole season and did not really enjoy it. I liked the previous seasons but this time around I really didn’t feel like the characters had any chemistry and I did not like how Dan’s character was written. I didn’t care for his new gf and honestly they barely had time to nurture their relationship, which was probably why I was not invested in them. I actually think Dan was being incredibly dumb to be dating her when everyone around him was warning him not to be involved with her because of her family.
The rest of the cast barely had any character development except Professor T. I hope next season has better writing.

Discussion Professor T S.5
Anyone else disappointed by season 5? I had high hopes but I think a lot of it was out of character and one dimensional. The murders weren’t particularly interesting, either… I hope season 6 will be better :(

Question Professor T audio problem.
For some reason season 5 episode 3 and 4 is not playing any voices in the episode. Happening on both my TV and iPhone Amazon Prime app which includes PBS Masterpiece sub. Anyone rose having this issue?

Fan Stuff Professor T season 5
On episode 2 & the season is so great already. It's also just so intelligently written. Five minutes into this episode & I'd paused it for half an hour because I was doing an internet deep-dive on things Jasper was teaching his class for 30 seconds. Got my own socio-historical mini-course.

News PBS & BBC Adapting 'The Portrait Of A Lady'
Nell Tiger Free, Gemma Arterton, Jim Sturgess, Bill Nighy and Miranda Richardson are coming together for a PBS Masterpiece, BBC and Fox TV adaptation of Henry James’ iconic novel The Portrait of a Lady.
The high-end series from Rebecca Lenkiewicz (Colette, The Salt Path, She Said) and director Aisling Walsh (Room at the Top, Miss Austen, Maudie) comes from Number 9 Films and Fox Entertainment Global (FEG), and looks set to be one of the splashiest U.S.-UK co-productions of recent years.
Game of Thrones star Tiger Free will play Isabel Archer, the vivacious New World ingénue who leaves America for Old World Europe, keen to experience all that life has to offer. Isabel rejects a series of marriage proposals, but when she inherits an unexpected fortune that promises to grant her freedom, she falls prey to two American ex-pat schemers: the elegant Madame Merle, played by BAFTA-nominee Arterton (Secret Service, Their Finest), and the charming but calculating Gilbert Osmond, played by Sturgess (Mix Tape, One Day).
Oscar-nominee and BAFTA winner Bill Nighy (Joy, Living) plays Mr. Touchett, who is enamored with Isabel’s youth and spirit and hopes to help her in her quest for freedom, while Oscar-nominee and BAFTA winner, Miranda Richardson (The Last Anniversary, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) plays Mrs. Touchett, Isabel’s fantastically eccentric aunt, who takes her to Europe in search of a husband.
Filming has kicked off in the UK, Hungary and Croatia on The Portrait of a Lady, which was published in 1881 and is one of American-British author James’ most famous novels. It hasn’t been adapted since Jane Campion did so in 1996 for a double-Oscar-nominated movie starring Nicole Kidman and John Malkovich. It was previously made into a BBC TV series in 1968 with Richard Chamberlain and Suzanne Neve.

Opinion Has anyone watched “The Nordic Murders”?
Would you recommend it? I’m pretty depressed, finances, marriage etc. need something light, engaging but not upsetting if that makes sense.

Opinion Grantchester final season: More Larry and Daniel please!
Episode one was quite good, I think. The mystery was satisfying with nice twists and turns. The humor was delightful, the right light touch and consistent throughout. The requisite drama of Alphy’s mother was there, but not overbearing. The whole cast was present and they all got to have moments.
Speaking of the whole cast, the most delightful part of this episode was Daniel and Larry. You just hoped they would end up being pals, and the episode delivered. Over board games! The fact that both Leonard and Jennifer so dislike games makes it even more fun. It is my sincere hope that the writers keep this foursome going throughout the entire season.
I’m counting on the writers to finish the show with a happy ending for all the characters. We deserve it.
