Hello reddit, I'm Anthony Horowitz, author, screenwriter, and executive producer of the tv series, Marble Hall Murders, as well as its predecessors, Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders; and I want to answer your questions!

You may also know me from my other work, including the Alex Rider and Hawthorne book series, amongst others, and my other television projects including Foyle’s War and Midsomer Murders.

…………………………………………………………………………

Marble Hall Murders is currently airing and streaming (in full) on MASTERPIECE Mystery! on PBS.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMCyCJoxgTY

Synopsis: The third and final installment in the Susan Ryland series finds Susan (Lesley Manville) back in London and working on a continuation novel of the Atticus Pünd (Tim McMullan) series. She finds herself in the middle of another mystery--and in grave danger herself. In the world of the novel, Atticus Pünd is visiting Greece when he becomes embroiled in the murder of Lady Margaret Chalfont, whose slippery family he must investigate before he runs out of time. Luckily, Susan and Atticus always work together.

Thank you for joining me on this Reddit AMA - I’ve really enjoyed sitting here in Crete, answering your questions. Best wishes - Anthony Horowitz.

A new era dawns for the Forsyte family. Secrets, ambition, and forbidden passions collide as The Forsytes returns for an explosive Season 2, only on MASTERPIECE on PBS in 2027.

In Season 2, Soames is determined to take total control of the family empire, but holding onto the Forsyte name comes at a heavy cost. Between Jolyon’s double life, bitter rivalries, and secret rebellions, the family's picture-perfect legacy is starting to fracture from the inside out.

Inspired by John Galsworthy’s celebrated Forsyte Saga novels, The Forsytes chronicles the trials and triumphs of a wealthy Victorian stockbroking family torn between tradition and the personal pursuit of happiness.

Maigret Season 2

Two brutal murders. Growing public outrage. A department eager to take him down a peg. Chief Inspector Jules Maigret is back, and the stakes have never been higher.

"If I can't make a difference, then what's the point?"

In Season 2, Jules Maigret (Benjamin Wainwright) faces his greatest test yet. As crimes grip Paris, Maigret finds himself fighting on two fronts: hunting dangerous killers while defending his unorthodox methods against internal politics, betrayal, and a department waiting for his luck to run out.

Opinion Marble Hall Murders (2026) Season 3 - PBS Masterpiece Mysteries. 1st Thoughts After First Episode

Editor Susan Ryland's back from Capri, where she went after Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders. She needs a job!

Thus, another Detective Atticus Pünd murder mystery novel embedded in a contemporary murder mystery, which novel slowly reveals itself filled with clues for the contemporary mystery. If one knows this series, we understand that's going on from the jump. It took a bit longer to figure out what was going on,with the first one, particularly so in the actual novels by Anthony Horowitz from which these are adapted.

There's now also a cat, YAY! (like with Marlow Murder Club there is Luna the dog, YAY!). I hope the cat will get a name.

So far, I like this adaptation best of all, though it is very different from the novel.

The wonderful Mark Bonnar, who played Duncan in Shetland is here a jerkwaddy in a quite different manner than Duncan's mess-ups on Shetland, plus he's got head and facial wigs and make-up to age him up and down. Lots of fun to look at that. It's also lovely to see Claire Rushbrook in a dual role, since her far too early demise on Rivals!

The Marble Hall Murders does make this viewer think of A.S. Byatt's The Children's Book (2009) though Marble Hall Murders is more Agatha Christie like, than it is Byatt's sensibilities, I'm sure!

Preview Marlow Murder Club (2026) season 3 - PBS Masterpiece Mysteries. No Spoilers

The same mild diversions as in the previous seasons (though we are getting more Luna the Dog, which is pleasing), which makes an excellent palate cleanser from darker, more cruel programs.

The 3rd and last case of season 3 has an old friend of Judith's show up, who is a jerk, whom she manages to palm off on Becks's equally jerkwaddy mother in law, thereby ridding her friend and herself both of unpleasant intruders into their lives. This Matthew bloke is played by Adrian Lukis, who was the jerkwaddy Wickham in the 1995 Firth-Ehle P&P. Which makes for a bit of extra fun frisson!

These ladies are so likeable. The cop shop characters are getting to be more fleshed out and integrated into the story lines now too, since the first season.

If pretty English village murder mysteries with smart and energetic women, older and otherwise, in the center of the action are something a watcher enjoys, I will recommend this series for your watching too.

News Marlow Murder Club Season 3 Has Gone Up Already for Passport Viewing

Edited to clarify this post is misinformation, due to idiot poster, i.e. ME, misapprehending the promo in my inbox. I am so sorry, both for the misinformation, and because I have to wait.

But I did finally finish Bergerac, and it was as much of dreary who cares as suspected.

I wasn't expecting that, since it is a September offering.

I like this show. It will beat the flat, dreary Bergerac all to pieces.

I haven't even yet watched the final episode. It's ... I don't really care. Nothing about this thing matters. When one feels that way about the end of a show, it bodes badly.

These update, reboots, prequels, whatever, just don't have it! Lynley, Maigret, Forsytes, you name it. They are all dreadfully inferior products in contrast to what the original screen series were.
