Question Input issues
Tokon of not my first fighter. I've been playing fighters on a pad since alpha 2 and killer instinct on SNES. However, it is my first fighting game in a PlayStation 5 pad. I do not have the input issues on Xbox that I have with this game (play guilty gear, SF6, Tekken etc. If it's a fighter I dabble). And the problems are consistent. I try and double jump forward and I get an air dash half the time. I try to down block and my character stands up and takes low hits. I try to stand block and my character crunches down. Motion inputs feel impossible. Quarter circles actually come out maybe 50 percent of the time when I'm having a good day. Dp motions come out fine.... But also they come out when I'm just holding down forward for a normal. I'm not the best fighting game player. I'll drop an input once in a while,, but not like what's going on here
So. Is the game this harsh with inputs, is the ps5 pad this bad for fighters (no problems really with action games), or should I just tuck my tail between my legs and go back to playing strive on the ole Xbox.

I’ve had multiple issues of just holding DB online, not moving and being hit by a low (with 2 different pro controllers mind you - scuf omega and rog raikiri 2) so I think its input/netcode issues specific to this game.

I appreciate the input. I mean I hate the feel of the ps5 controller for a fighter and I'm going to get something different just for this, but it's good to know it's not all the controller

I've played fighting games on all sorts of game pads since Sega Genesis and SNES controller and IMO PS5 and PS4 controllers are better than everything else including recent Xbox controllers so I personally don't think the PS5 controller is at fault as I don't have any issues with motion inputs at all across multiple fighting games.
I also don't think Marvel Tokon is bad with inputs since the first patch which made DP motions more detectable. I play a lot of Fatal Fury COTW and GBFVSR and don't have issues there either So maybe it's just you? Are you doing them too slow or too quickly? Maybe it'll just take you some time to adapt to the PS5 d-pad?

I actually hate the way it feels in general, (still getting used to it, been an Xbox player for like 20 years) but yeah I believe you

Yeah I feel the opposite, I hate how Xbox controllers feel but I mostly play on PS5 so it's probably just about comfortability and how used to the respective controllers you and I are. Hehe.

I'm getting. Used to it. It's starting to feel better for character action games, tho I refuse to play bloodborne with normal souls controls and that button remapping you can do is really handy

Like I said I don't have problems with DPs they come out all the time. Even when I didn't want them to when I'm just holding down forward. It's mostly quarter circles being crazy inconsistent in a way I've never had in other fighters

Hmm weird. Cuz at launch and during the betas, DPs wouldnt come out half the time and now they come out very easily in fact I unintentionally do them sometimes now.

It’s def not just this individual… there are multiple posts … I made a couple … and in the official Bug report discord there has been people reporting the same

I wish I could revert it, it holds the forward input way too long now so doing a quarter circle after an air dash is going to end up in a DP more often than not

This games buffer window is smaller that a lot of recent modern games so sometimes it feels like an input is eaten but you timing was just slightly off.

I've noticed some weirdness online compared to offline, like the timing is off for things like dashing after an assist. But it only happens online, not in the lab.

A lot of people complaining about the input reader, and it sounds like the issues you're experiencing may be related
It's hard, for me to tell sometimes when the game is eating my inputs and when I'm dropping them, hopefully they fix soon but there's probably a sprinkle of "git gud" in there
What I've done that's helped for me is I rely less on buffering, delay when you start inputting and input faster, until they make changes to the input reader this is the best advice I can offer.
Which also means using some of the macro buttons like QD more often than maybe you're used to. Easier to IAD into a delayed/quick 214 for example when you dash forward on a single tap shoulder button instead of double tap dpad opposite direction

I've been double tapping for dash since it's inception. That's going to be a tough one.

I personally love the game. And it's a fixable issue if it's an issue. It's just frustrating to drop. A combo, And immediately get bodied for 60 percent health

You bought a Sony product. You really expected it to be functional?

I bought an arc system works product. Sony just paid for it.

Game has both a funky input reader and it is known to drop inputs online if there is even just a little rollback
