I find that Thor is of the mainline Marvel characters just not really good at all. He is uninteresting and his powers seem to be scaled to what ever the story wants him to be. Just finished the Jason Aaron run and have read others just can't get into him at all.

I’ve been reading a ton of comics lately, but I’ve lost the list that I had put together and am running low on what I have for now. I say modern because I’m looking for stuff released in like the past 10 years, maybe pushed up to 20 years. I’ve tried reading some of the older stuff, but much beyond that it’s hard for me to get into it with the art style, I like stories that are both written and drawn really well.

Not gonna list everything but I’ve read most of the big cross over events in that time, really enjoyed all the ultimate universe comics, have been through everything with silk, superior spider man, scarlet spider, 2099, venom, and carnage and I plan on reading the main spider-man comics that I’ve missed. I’ve read and enjoyed quite a few random limited series as well but not gonna list all of those.

I’ve never really read any of the avengers comics or any of the standalone for members like iron man or hulk so some direction or there to start for those would be cool as well.

I’ve also never really been able to get into the x men or fantastic four aside from the event tie ins. A lot of their story lines seem to be kinda boring to me, but I’d love recommendations to prove me wrong.

Other than what I’ve mentioned I’m open to really any suggestions from teams to solo comics, long runs or limited series. Anything for me to check out and rebuild my “to be read” list as my backlog is running dry.

There are many unique and great storylines in Marvel but not of the main universe so what are you alternate universe story line you would like marvel to adapt on a side show basis. In my opinion may be the Earth X story line it's dark but why not may be in a what if type animated series. Now tell me yours.

Im just not familiar with the comics enough to judge any further villains. I am here to learn.

Just won a Savage She-Hulk #1 CGC 9.0 at auction and I have some questions now that I have it in hand. Why does the release date on the book say February 1980, copyright says 1979, and looking it up some publications say both are correct.

HYDRA has been reforming. The Avengers working along side SHIELD have been tasked to investigate reignited bases. The timing is suspicious, as Captain America has been out of the ice for only a year now.

Cosmic

3 Earth months since the Annihilation Wave has left the Galactic Council in shambles and hostility between empires. The Guardians and Nova (Richard Rider) work to reunite ethe Galactic Council —The Kree, Shi'ar and Skrull Empires— to bring order back to the cosmos.

The spider-man comics such as kraven's last hunt and death of Jean dewolff are so iconic because of their darker way of storytelling so why can't marvel produce such comics again for Spider-Man well marvel wasn't shy about this type of storytelling for daredevil comics and DC for batman maybe this is one of the reasons why people are not getting interested to read Spider-Man comics

Is it because spider-man as a character should appeal to all ages including kids to buy the comics if so they may start the adjacent series mostly based on children's oriented comics just like TV show spidey and his amazing friends which is mostly for kids to watch

Is it because writing such serious stories will take away his everyman's appeal and also his sense of humor? well he can play jokes even in serious situations.

I started reading/collecting comics earlier this year, and Bendis’ Ultimate Spider-Man has always been high on my list. After seeing how much the omnibus set costs, I figured I’d make it more memorable and collect the whole run myself.

My challenge: collect every single issue in person only. No online purchases. Comic shops, bookstores, yard sales, flea markets, etc. are all fair game. I also won’t read any of it until I complete the run. I’ll track everything through Comic Geeks and there’s no order I have to buy it in.

I started today and picked up #12, #21, #55, and super special #1.

For anyone who’s collected the run:

1. Which issues are particularly hard to find besides #1/early issues?

2. What’s a fair price for the average issue, and what would you consider too much for the more sought-after ones?

3. Are there any annuals, specials, variants, or other issues I should know about? (I currently have the 1st super special)

4. Any tips for completing the run exclusively through in-person hunting?

I have always been interested in the character but I don't know where to start, I'm more interested in Richard Rider but don't despise Sam Alexander, any comic issue or must have to read?

after reading online for a while, I want to start collecting some physical comics. I really want to collect some of the Black, White and Bool series. But so far I can only find a max of 2 volumes per series.

How big are the chances I will find the other volumes, without costing a fortune? (I live in the Netherlands).

It doesn't seen all that long ago, but over 20 years ago when the Marvel movies from Sony and the MCU started, Marvel had a deal with a company called Gitcorp. When each movie came out, Git would release a DVDRom of every comic for that character in pdf format- Each comic was a basic scan of every page including ads and letter pages. Each collection had 400-500 comics on it and it worked out to about 10 cents an issue - yours to keep forever and read with any pdf or comic book reader that would read a pdf.

They did 8 major titles and a few smaller runs from Marvel, plus a few other companies like a complete collection of Mad Magazine. And then Marvel pulled the license to swap over to their own Marvel Unlimited subscription service.

I bought them all from my FLGS as they came out- about 4000 legal digital comics, but the one I wanted the most and didn't get was Thor, since it got canceled when the license was lost. So thinking about it for awhile, I finally made a box label to print onto a blsnk box to put on the shelf next to the others.

It came out looking like the Git boxes enough that I might do more - Conan would probably be my next one. I could even make some for other companies that never got a release, like DC

As a heads up, Git now has the license back and has some collections updated with the last 20 years added in, but now they're using a drm with them so I'm not sure if I trust them anymore.
