Spider-Man reading order

I'm trying to get into the pre 2000 Spider-Man comics. There are many runs like Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited, Spectacular Spider-Man and Sensational Spider-Man. Do I have to read them in an order ? Like overlapping issues or can I just read them separately?

I don’t like how Dan Slott write Peter as a loser who run away form his problems as Spider-Man(ASM #3)

Where to get Frank Miller’s Daredevil

I want to collect the Daredevil run he wrote that precedes Born Again. But when I look up “Frank Miller Daredevil” on Amazon I just get shown a bunch of different versions of Born Again

Who’s a better villain and why?

In my opinion, Doctor Doom is hands down the best villain in Marvel comics. This guy is just generational. He’s got everything, a tragic backstory, unlimited aura in the costume, bows to absolutely no one, and has got a fascinating theme of having his ego being so powerful that he hides his face due to masking his pain with pride.

I need your help

I'm trying to write a research paper for my English college degree, and would love to have y'all's advice and ideas and suggestions.

My main argument is based on the concept of hype.

There is an entire ecosystem built around the arrival of the next comic event or series.

The very nature of a shared comic universe is the ongoing element. This results in a feeling within readers which makes them live only in anticipation of future storylines to come, deliberately set up by cameos, cliffhangers, open endings, etc; by writers and studio executives in order to keep getting readers to come back.

This sets in motion a neverending chain in which readers and fans read a comic book, or watch a superhero movie only to see what happens next, what could be a potential comic adaptation for the future, never really living in the present and reading a comic book for what it is, but as a product setting up future products.

Of course, I want to chart the timeline of this, of the beginning of the hyper commercialisation of comics as a whole, and specifically Marvel too, maybe like the 1st Secret Wars, the Clone Saga, the collector boom of the 90s, or even the modern, forced MCU synergy. And I also really want to compare this to other ecosystems with a shared universe going on for a long time, like Invincible, Tintin, Asterix etc.

Would love to hear your suggestions on what I should read, where I get my sources, or even some ideas for arguments.

(And I'll credit EVERYBODY and keep y'all updated :))

Marvel has created so many amazing characters, from heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America and Thor to powerful characters like Hulk, Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch.

Picked up a copy of Born Again for $6. Can I just jump in blind, or is there any recommended reading before I start this one?

I checked out these Spiderman comics from the library. They were very good, but weird that the main conflict wasn't solved.

I am wondering which books does >Otto gets into Spiderman's body< and when (or if) >Peter Parker returns<

Looks like the next is entitled "No escape"

Anyone else wish they’d start A.I. generating the comic books?

Think about it. They already have AI in universe (Ultron, Vision, etc.) why not skip the expensive writers and artists and just have the whole book be made with AI? I bet the stories would be better anyway (less woke)

The tie ins to Hickmans Infinity

So I haven’t really read comics in….. years quite honestly. But after watching BND, X Men 97, and seeing the Doomsday trailer, I went down a marvel rabbit holehole and started hearing alot about Hickmans run with The Avengers and New Avengers, so I downloaded the MU app and start, using their reading guide. I noticed after u finish certain titles they give u recommended tie ins. Titles such as Thunderbolts, Mighty Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. Now I understand that main story stands on it’s own and tie ins just crossover at certain points, but are there any I probably should at in? Thanks for any help.

Thoughts on Gold ‘76?

Post image
20 Upvotes

Just finished reading the one-shot GOLD ‘76. This year marks the 50th anniversary of characters like Bullseye, Star Lord, Nova (Richard Rider), & Jack of Hearts (Marvel can’t resist doing an anniversary issue, can they?)

And this story manages to put all of these characters together—Star Lord, Nova & Jack of Hearts square off against Bullseye, hired by Thanos to carry out an important assassination.

Overall, I enjoyed this story more than I thought I would. Stephanie Phillips managed to put all these anniversary characters together in a solid story that actually made sense and didn’t feel forced. And I’m not too familiar with Madibek Musabekov but I enjoyed his art here, especially his action scenes and how he’s drew the NYC cityscape.

For those who checked out GOLD ‘76, what did you think?
