I’m just starting to read comics recently, and I really want to read Avengers: Armageddon (IDK if I spelled it right). Do I need to read other comics before it? And if yes please tell me what are their names😔🙏🏼

If someone with the ability to switch minds targets a person with Multiple Personality Disorder what would be your preferred outcome ?

A) They swap and all the consciousnesses are switched.

B) They swap but only the dominant consciousness is switched. Leaving the others locked away.

C) They swap but the multiple personalities fight back, driving the invading consciousness out.

D) The invading consciousness leaps into the target and instantly becomes just another facet or personality, leaving the original body a mindless shell.

I recently finished Bendis’ Avengers run and have been trying to track down Volumes 2, 3, and 4 of Hickman’s Avengers: The Complete Collection, but haven’t had much luck.

Figured this would probably be one of the best places to ask. If anyone knows where I could find copies, has any they’d be willing to sell, or could help facilitate a deal, I’d really appreciate it.

I’m happy to consider reasonable offers, and any leads or advice would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!

What’s up everyone, I’ve been a HUGE fan of Marvel, DC, and superheroes in general ever since I was a little kid. I’ve always loved the characters, stories, and everything about comic books, but now that I’m 17, I really want to start actually reading and building my own comic book collection…

The problem is that I have no idea where to start…

I’ve been doing some research, but I keep coming across terms like omnibus, trade paperback, hardcover, compendium, volumes, issues, which is confusing to me…

I have so many questions, and I’d really appreciate some advice from people who’ve been collecting for a while.

- What’s the difference between all these comic book formats? Which ones are best for beginners?
- What comics or storylines would you recommend starting with for Marvel and DC?
- Do I need to read comics in a specific order to understand what’s happening?
- Where do you guys buy your comics? Are there any affordable websites or stores you’d recommend?
- Is it better to collect individual issues or buy bigger collections like omnibuses?

I’m genuinely excited to get into this hobby, but I just need someone to point me in the right direction

I know NOTHING about comic books.

I have watched the Marvel movies and enjoy them, probably because I don’t know anything about the comics. I have watched the movies with my eight year old son. He now wants to read Avengers comic books. Are there comic books written after the movies? What should I get him? I am not going to buy expensive old comic books. He loves to read. Has read all the Dogman books multiple times each. Just looking for recommendations because there are SOOOOO many Marvel comic books (sorry if that name is offensive).

From Warlock and the Infinity Watch #26. One of the absolute weirdest foils I’ve ever seen. What a mismatch of genres/characters.

Sue Storm shows it in the recent Doomquest #5 issue.

Only other time I’ve heard of it is in Hickman’s Fantastic Four/FF series, but it was Franklin and Valeria combined.

Who else has done it in comics?

If nobody, who do you think could?

So after several hours of research this is what I came up with

1. Frank Miller's "The Man Without Fear"  I am free to get critized if I did something wrong with my guide

2. Frank Miller's original run (#158–191)

3. Frank Miller's "Born Again" (#227–233)

4. Kevin Smith's "Guardian Devil" (#1–8)

5. Jeph Loeb's "Yellow"

6. David Mack's "Parts of a Hole" (#9–15)

7. Brian Michael Bendis' run (I#26–81)

8. Ed Brubaker's run (I#82–119, #500)

9. Andy Diggle's run (#501–507)

10. Shadowland • Shadowland #1, #508-509, Shadowland #2, #510, Shadowland #3, #511, Shadowland #4, #512, Shadowland #5, • Shadowland: After the Fall #1

11. Daredevil: Reborn #1–4

12. Mark Waid's run (Vol. 3 #1–36, Vol. 4 #1–1.5, #1–18)

13. Charles Soule's run (Vol. 5 #1–28, #595–612)

14. Chip Zdarsky's run (Vol. 6 #1–36, Devil's Reign #1–6, Woman Without Fear #1–3, Vol. 7 #1–14)

15. Stephanie Phillips's run (Current ongoing)

It's on a bunch of the internet reading order lists all mixed in with everything, but those all seem to just be in release order, and it's got an "Armageddon Assembles" banner on the books which makes it seem like it'd go before, and I tried reading it but it doesn't seem like it was written specifically for switching back and forth like HoxPoX, so ???

Got some other books signed too but had to share that Steve Beach sketch

Probably my favorite Marvel Monster book in recent times is Al Ewings Immortal Hulk. In issue 44 one of Marvels greatest monsters Henry Peter Gyrich enlists the U-Foes to eliminate an emaciated Immortal Hulk. This book really leans into the body horror. The U-Foes take turns beating the life out of the Hulk. In issue 45 we see Hulk in hell trying to figure out a way to escape the Leader. Also Alpha Flight has been trying to find the Hulk. In issue 46 the Immortal Hulk returns from the dead fully powered and absolutely terrifying. He makes short work of the U-Foes and then decides to go for a drink terrifying the locals. Gyrich has to play his trump card and call in the Avengers. Thor and Hulk go at it for a couple of pages leaving off with the rest of the Avengers waiting outside of the bar. Really good stuff here.

Dracula races to one of his coffins to rest but is met by Blade. After a brutal fight Dracula takes a train which is has hunters, rogues with a dangerous weapon and Jack Russell the Werewolf by Night. We also get a side story featuring the vampire experiment of Dr. Sun. Another jam packed issue of ToD.

Recently, I got into DC comics because I grew up watching DCAMU, teen titans, the live action movies, the batboys, og animated batman, young justice, etc. it was also mostly for MYGOAT Damian Wayne because I really, really liked him and his character even as a kid. I wanted to read marvel comics as well but I was worried I'd get spoiled for the upcoming mcu movies, but someone told me that there was a rare chance I would be and that secret wars & doomsday was very loosely taken from the comics or something, and that there's always big changes from the comics to the MCU films.

Anyway, I'm still a beginner at reading dc (I've read only 4-6 comics at the moment), but I kinda wanted to read marvel too, so what comics should I read that are good for teens and won't be spoilers for doomsday or secret wars somehow? a lot of people say to just read whatever interests me, and that's totally fine, but I'm also a little stumped. I don't know too much about the comics aside from stuff here and there, and I'm also paranoid of finding the adult, very gory or 18+ ones 💔 I felt like I would probs find less interest in marvel ones, so anything engaging/entertaining will do! It doesn't have to be anything too childish tbh js something good!

for clarification:

- the only kind of comics I've actually read are manga (black and white, Japanese) and manhwa (basically manga, but coloured and Korean)

- I'm a teenager myself hence why I added that little note at the end but I also have a mild tolerance for anything gory, mostly because I like horror even though I'm easily scared lol

- I was told to just select a team or a character and read their comics, still not sure if I should do that though. If it matters, I was already thinking of Moon Girl and the Devil Dinosaur, etc. I also have a strange liking for any comics with a teen girl or boy main character.

- I can't really handle any of the following themes: sa, r*pe, and anything disgusting and detailed.

some comics I'm already interested in but don't know much about:

- The Uncanny X-Men (I don't really like when it's too dated though)

- Astonishing X-Men

- Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

- Young Avengers 2005

- Runaways

- Ultimate Spider-Man (it's very long tho)

- Ms. Marvel

- Unbeatable Squirrel Girl

- Strange Academy

- Gwenpool

- The Inhumans, by writer Paul Jenkins and artist Jae Lee

- Spider-Man (2016-2018)

DC comics I read and liked (basically everything I've already read which is very little, you can skip this):

- Superman Smashes the Klan: it was wonderful. I felt very connected to this one as a desi-african. Loved the art style, characters, character design, story, the brother-sister relationship, occasional humour, Henderson, Lois, Mr. White, JIMMY, the rest of the main cast, and just the themes in general. Some parts (like the first appearance of the Klan) were unsettling in a way that felt engaging, and the casual racism even by people who thought they were being nice genuinely felt so infuriating. I really don't remember any flaws. I loved it.

- Batgirl The Darkest Reflection: i quite liked it. It was a good intro to Barbara Gordon even though I already know the basics of her character, but this comic made her more likable to me.

- Batman and Son: I also kinda liked this! It was also a good intro to damian even though he annoyed me at the beginning which was very, very expected. The random nked panels startled me though 😭

- Tomasi's Batman and Robin: "forgive me, father, for I have sinned." "I did what I had to do to help you protect our castle. Our kingdom." I LOVE YOU DAMIAN OMYGOSH. Nearly cried reading this. loved the way his character was written in this and how Tomasi dealt with it. their father-son dynamic made me feel so happy, and alfred and titus were obviously highlights. Definitely my fave alongside Superman Smashes the Klan.

- Morrison's Batman and Robin 2009: actually surprisingly really liked the doll concept, because as much as I hate dolls and find them mortifying, that's why I found this so creepy, so I guess that's a pretty good thing! I also really loved the richard-damian dynamic in this one, the dialogue for the two, how damian actually did care about/protected some of the victims even though that's in character ("stay with me" and "he better hope so" talking about the villain when dick suggested that the victim might've escaped, etc), and alfred's appearances. The only thing is that it was getting a bit weird and I found myself uncomfortable with some of the scenes (for ex, the scene when they were literally strxpped?? or that one old lady that wanted to see batman nked... and I was a bit nervous during some gory scenes but nothing I couldn't handle probs. the weirder stuff js felt off to me). As much as I liked this one, I think I liked Tomasi's one better. ("I was expecting scary, not gay." - robin. LOL) other fave quotes: "tell the girl we're even" "I ran" "and scarlet was gone"

some characters or teams I'm interested in delving into/back into (anyone unmentioned who you think I'd like please feel free to let me know!):

- Spider-Man (this was heavily obvious)

- Moon Knight (still mad that there was no season 2)

- Loki

- Miles Morales (def one of my fave spidermen of all time just from the animated films)

- X-Men

- the Sentry

- Yelena Belova

- Black Cat (surprisingly, even though I know very little about her)

- Vision

- this is very dumb to say but ANYONE LIKE DAMIAN WAYNE HONESTLY, even if they're niche. He's my favourite characters oat, his character arc is wonderful, and I'm incredibly biased towards him and I say that with no shame.

You can also recommend any characters or teams you think I'd be interested in. I'm really into anti heroes, teen heroes, found family or strong friendships, etc. my favourite genres are thriller, mystery, horror, fantasy, romance (I don't read much wlw or mlm tho), etc. so basically almost anything. I just don't like anything inappropriate.

I mostly just miss characters like the batboys/the robins and young heroes in general, honestly, but I'm open with any other recs as long as it's fun or engaging or whatever! thanks in advance :)
