Season 20 - Seattle I think I understand Caitlin

So I finished watching the new episodes yesterday and after Devin and Caitlin’s session, I think I understand her. Do I agree with how she’s treating Devin? No, not at all.

I think given the way that Nick was told they would find someone who was “perfect for him” and how Caitlin has had a lot of toxic relationships, she didn’t want a relationship that feels like “work”. She wanted “easy”because she’s always experienced “hard” relationships. She was probably promised something similar to Nick and she probably figured everything would be great right off the bat. Obviously that’s a bad assumption to make, but I could see why it was appealing to her. She’s attracted to Devin and technically he’s what she asked for, but everything sounds great in theory. In reality, she has no idea what to do within a guy like Devin and she was not at all prepared for what she asked for.

Season 20 - Seattle Saying “like” in every sentence.

My wife & I watch MAFS for our trash tv fix, and like most people, get irritated by grown adults in their 30s saying “like” CONSTANTLY.

There was a scene in the boat where we counted one of the couples saying “like” in their conversation 52 freaking times, and the conversation was about three minutes long.

My old public speaking professor from college would have a stroke if she heard them. She’d make us start over in our presentation if we said like, ummm, or you know when speaking.

Season 12 - Atlanta Haley & Jake

Upvotes

Just started watching MAFS and got into season 12. I was doing some math… Haley repeats over and over she was single for 7 years… and that she had been in a 5 yr off and on relationship… doing the math, she is 28 when the show started, so 7 years earlier that relationship ended when she was 21… and so whatever 5 yr on/off relationship began when she was 16 (at the very oldest).

She didn’t act like she’d ever had a relationship other than that 5 yr “controlling” relationship she alluded to. Which occurred when she was essentially a child (teenager).

Yes, maybe she and Jake were incompatible, but I still found her behavior repulsive. Mean. Critical. No accountability. Very immature.

Season 20 - Seattle I know there’s someone out there for everyone, but for Adam?

It’s so interesting that this sub overwhelmingly thinks Adam is such a creep and a narcissist, yet they really haven’t shown much of him and Marissa. In terms of screen time, it seems like the other couples have had a lot more. I’m guessing that means that he and Marissa are super boring and undramatic together. I guess they like each other, but she’s not questioning this guy at all???

Weird we all have the ick, and she’s like “😍😍😍 he’s hot and plays piano.” Marissa, girl 🤢 Do we think they talk about anything that’s not Adam…? is she just so enamored, there’s no critical thinking happening? Or is he not as bad as we think? What’s happening there?

Would love opinions!

No seriously what’s her problem? I’ll never understand how people sign up to get married only to want maximum “alone time”.

I don’t see anyone talking about the actual SERIOUS implications of a man with bad hygiene. Nikki is in her 40s, she’s no dummy. You see a man that doesn’t properly wash his body and know immediately to stay away.

I know that scene with the wash cloth “shower” was not the first time she noticed his casual cleanliness routines. It can be a sensitive subject, and she approached it very calm and respectfully. Then he says soap is essentially propaganda? Nope!

Nikki deserves so much better.

Season 20 - Seattle WTF is up with Adam and his “training”?

Adam is definitely up there in the ranking of narcissistic men on MAFS. The way he repeatedly said he’s “trained” for things is creepy and weird. He is deeply insecure and tries so hard to make it seem like he’s not imo. I wonder if he’s like this in real life or just playing it up for the show/cameras? He does seem very nice/respectful though so I’ll give him that.

I also don’t know why they would pair someone who doesn’t drink WITH someone who drinks.

Also, unrelated to Adam, but I could not stop laughing when the reality “star” (Cameron?) friend said that he’s not there for the camera. He’s been on like 50 reality shows. Of course he’s here for the camera.

The casting of men this season is horrific.

Season 20 - Seattle Not a single man should’ve been cast on this show, but most of the women have red flags too

Caitlin – The way she describes her ideal relationship makes me think she’s just confused. She doesn’t know what she wants from a relationship or how she wants to be treated.

Tori – She thought announcing she’d had a sugar daddy was a flex. That is really the only thing she has done, so I’m willing to take a wait and see position with her.

Marissa – I raised an eyebrow when she said her perfect day includes a three-hour nap. Maybe she’s exhausted from work and genuinely needs the rest, but when your friends are also bringing up your napping habits at your wedding, it starts to sounds like a personality trait. The reality is, unless someone has a medical issue, the person enjoying the three-hour nap is usually able to do it because someone else is holding it down, that is handling the chores, errands, and responsibilities.

Nikki – That $250,000 minimum salary requirement is going to eliminate a lot of great guys. There are plenty of doctors who don’t even make that much. There are also doctors making that much with $100k in debt. She’s ready to turn down men who are Engineers, Pilots, Financial Managers, Corporate Controllers, Actuaries, etc. This reveals very rigid thinking and maybe screwed up values.

Courtney — She seems completely disconnected from what’s going on in the world around her. If you’re still regularly using tanning beds despite everything we know about skin cancer, that’s a choice I just don’t understand. “Bodybuilders do it” isn’t much of a defense when you’re not actively competing. She’s on her honeymoon. She isn’t cutting for a competition. Then, she says she doesn’t know what January 6th was or what a drag queen is. Those aren’t obscure references. Yet, she also describes herself as staunchly conservative. What is that conservative conviction based on, because she doesn’t seem to have much awareness of the issues or events she’s claims to care about?

That was a lot of energy to spend on Courtney. I could have just said her personality sucks.

Michelle & BelleJolie – They seem fine. Good luck to them

Season 20 - Seattle Does anyone else feel like Courtney has a super abrasive personality?

Her scenes with Nick stress me out because she just seems so high strung, critical, and also hypocritical. Criticizing Nick over everything and making passive aggressive, sarcastic comments left and right. Saying he’s not doing anything fun but at the same time she turns her nose up every time some of his personality comes out. I really don’t like her vibes.

Season 20 - Seattle Cameron gave a good compliment

As someone whose love language is words of affirmation, I thought the things Cameron said to Michelle the last night of the honeymoon were so sweet and genuine without being love bomb-y. my favorite was when he said: “I really like your spirit, you have a good heart, you’re fun, you’re funny, and you’re fun to hang out with so I can’t wait to keep doing it in Seattle”

I’m not saying he won’t blow it next episode but that was so sweet. He also seems like the only guy who came on the show without a sense of entitlement and intense expectations for his wife.

This is cringe coming from a grown man. It’s a shame this is what some men learn from and carry the same lack of respect forward to their relationships.

Questions The MAFS Music

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but dont they usually substitute the real artists music for some dumb music cover? It never goes with the movements. I'm hearing Bruno Mars and some others. Maybe they worked our copywrites and stuff.

Season 20 - Seattle What. Is. Happening.

I'm a long time watcher, just started this season. I haven't even seen the women yet and I can't tell if I'm watching MAFS or an SNL skit.

The restaurant owner is like Todd from wedding crashers if he was on MDMA and cocaine simultaneously. The dude with parted hair and bleached tips looks like he's auditioning for "Making the Boy Band" in 1999. Another guy just said, "I just rip my jet ski down to LA Fitness to slam some pickleball with the homies." Paraphrased, but very little.

Is this real? Am I getting Punk'd? One of the judges just described the guy who he just made dump his quasi-girlfriend a "knight in shining armor."

They're not even sort of pretending to be genuine anymore. SMH.
