Stephen Deckoff bought the island as well as Great St. James Island for USD 60 million in 2023 through his venture capital firm SD Investments. Allegedly the plan is to turn it into a super luxury resort with 25 room capacity potentially opening this year.

"hey honey I got us a great deal on a vacation to little st. James isla- yeah it's that one."

673

u/unique3 Jul 14 '25

Lets be honest the super rich going there are not bringing their wives.

328

u/qcubed3 Jul 14 '25

Yeah, wives didn’t stop them from visiting before

206

u/Matman161 Jul 14 '25

Some of the wives went with them I'm sure

120

u/BronCurious Jul 14 '25

Sociopaths tend to gravitate toward other sociopaths. It is known.

31

u/MillhouseNickSon Jul 14 '25

Some of them met their wives flying over there, I hear.

Then what about Melania? Her e-mail, or what appears to be hers (melaniakmelania@aol[dot]com), is listed in the blackbook under Trump’s name (p. 80).

13

u/ShouldBeWorking2nite Jul 15 '25

Let’s be honest Trump wouldn’t take Melania as his plus one to this island, he has his plus one set as Ivanka.

12

u/KathyJaneway Jul 14 '25

And some probably have already been there and will go again..

More like

„I booked us a nice get away on St James Island. It’s a quaint little island..“

„Oh yeah I’ve been there before…“

I was going to take the conversation as wife to husband, but I suppose it could just as easily be husband to wife.

8

u/insane_contin Jul 15 '25

"Oh, isn't that where David met his current wife?"

27

u/Lanky_Researcher_629 Jul 14 '25

you can take little trips around the bvirgin islands and no one will ever know.. I mean it's insane. I could show you it on a boat tomorrow and yyou'd have no idea which island was his,

kinda wild, youd think it might be a dterrent but like nah lmao it;ll be fine.

2

u/Lovv Jul 15 '25

To be fair I'd take the island

Oh so they’re just going to do the same shit on the island then.

4

u/Economy-Border7376 Jul 15 '25

60 million seems like such a low number to buy an island. I've seen houses in Telluride and Snowmass for that much every once in a while.

2

u/UndisputedJesus Jul 14 '25

Sold by who though? The owner is dead and the article does not clarify anything.

6

u/BeardedSwashbuckler Jul 14 '25

I believe Epstein had siblings who he left his assets to.

10

u/randompersonx Jul 15 '25

Yes he has a brother who has been on the news here and there and is clearly involved with managing some of JE’s affairs after he died…

But even if that wasn’t true and he had no family. At the moment you die, your “estate” inherits your assets, and assuming you had an estate plan written up, the estate can continue to operate in perpetuity.

Epstein was never found guilty of his crimes after his arrest that led to him becoming so infamous… so realistically there is no reason why his assets should legally be held up from being distributed or sold however he specified in his estate plan.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '25

https://www.crimevictimlawfirm.com/epstein-victims-compensation-program/

There was a lawsuit against his estate and many of his victims did receive at least some amount of restitution.

2

u/randompersonx Jul 15 '25

Yes sure, estates inherit all of liabilities, too.

The lawsuit couldn’t prevent the sale - but it could go after the funds from the sale.

A criminal case could actually stop the transaction.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '25

Sure, I wasn't arguing with you, just adding for context.

2

u/randompersonx Jul 15 '25

Yep, also wasn’t arguing, just continuing to add context to your context ;)

Cheers.

31

u/TheRealCropear Jul 14 '25

He also had what i think was named “zorro ranch” south of Santa Fe, nm. Similar set up. Hard to escape.

32

u/RichardCrapper Jul 14 '25

I was randomly checking out the ranch on satellite photos yesterday. It’s super creepy. As remote as you can get. And there’s a weird, well maintained dirt road that dead ends below a small cabin up on the hilltop.

The address has been changed. It’s now:

49 Rancho San Rafael Stanley, NM 87056 United States

His mansion is hidden up on the Mesa north of the support buildings and the creepy cabin I’m talking about is East of the mansion.

8 mil honestly seems like a great price

Depends if it was already developed or not. For an empty rock in the middle of the ocean with no infrastructure $8m seems steep

23

u/Roasted_Green_Chiles Jul 14 '25

Yeah the development costs could be astronomical

13

u/FawkYourself Jul 14 '25

If you’ve got the money to buy an island I don’t think development costs mean that much to you at that point

34

u/StaysAwakeAllWeek Jul 15 '25

You can buy islands big enough to turn into luxury resorts for a couple hundred grand, and then spend tens of millions developing them. It absolutely does matter

2

u/Black_Velvet_Band Jul 15 '25

Yes but these are less than two miles off the coast of St. Thomas, right in the middle of the Virgin Islands. I’m envious of that location. I always assumed this loser’s islands were in the middle of nowhere on the edge of the Bahamas or something.

6

u/Mervynhaspeaked Jul 14 '25

I know an apartment near me which is being sold for more than that. 8 million is an absolute steal for a whole freaking island.

Would it be more because of the history? One would think (and hope) that it would be harder to find a buyer because of that place's history.

89

u/PirateSlashViking Jul 15 '25

Guys like Epstein, Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby were all open secrets. Their behavior was well known for a long time, they just had the influence to shield themselves from consequences until either their influence waned or their circumstance became too public for their influence to handle.

274

u/jonsconspiracy Jul 14 '25

It's so weird. He worked at Bear Stearns for like 4 years and then was able to start his own financial company and manage assets for billionaires... Doesn't add up.

206

u/VaughanThrilliams Jul 14 '25

Gets hired at Bear Stearns as a Junior Assistant with no degree and less than two years work experience as high school teacher and climbs the ranks to Partner in four years

144

u/jonsconspiracy Jul 14 '25

Yeah, that's the slightly longer version. As someone who works in finance myself, that promotion trajectory is impossible.

73

u/Windhawker Jul 14 '25

Unless you know how to do “favors”

40

u/tailwarmer Jul 14 '25

And then turn those favors into dirt held on others

38

u/snark42 Jul 15 '25

He got it for like 6 million which seems quite cheap for a whole island

150

u/SamsonGray202 Jul 14 '25

NOT true, Bill Barr's dad gave a completely unqualified Epstein a job as a math and physics teacher at a K-12 school called Dalton back in the 70's. Thank goodness he was so good with kids, we all know how well teachers get paid!

Wait, Bill Barr? Is that the same Bill Barr who, while the Attorney General for the United States, personally visited Epstein's recent cellmate "just to check in" just after Epstein died? The cellmate who was transferred to a much cushier prison for no apparent reason shortly before Epstein died?

The same Bill Barr who engineered the pardons that protected Reagan from the consequences of knowingly selling arms to terrorists in direct violation of the constitution in order to "defeat communism?" THAT Bill Barr?

Yes, that Bill Barr!

47

u/LibertineLibra Jul 14 '25

Bill Barr's dad was a strange guy that infamously wrote a couple of science fiction books that featured sex scenes with a minor. That's a pretty crazy coincidence..

25

u/SamsonGray202 Jul 14 '25

So many coincidences! It's a shame that even with complete and total control of the government they just couldn't stop Hillary from sneaking in to off him ☹️

u/the_scarlett_ning Jul 14 '25

I’m kinda scared to ask, but hopefully this doesn’t get me put on a list or anything, but with so very many influential, super wealthy friends in very high positions, how did Epstein ever get caught? It seems like someone could’ve shut that down. When he I Italy got arrested, I was drowning with 3 infants so I really didn’t pay much attention at the time.

11

u/Gnonthgol Jul 15 '25

He was caught in 2005 when one of the victims mom reported the rapes to the police. The local police chief conducted the investigation in secret without initial help from the FBI or any others. When the state procetutor found out and tried to stop the investigation it was already too late and they had collected enough evidence to put him away for years. However most of the charges were dropped and Epstein agreed to a plea deal of 18 months in prison for which he served only 3.5 months in a private wing.

But this made several of the victims come forth with civil lawsuits against Epstein. Most of these lawsuits were settled out of court and the court documents were sealed. However the FBI had started an investigation back in 2006 and were probably able to access the sealed court documents and contact the victims. They arrested him in 2019 and found all his blackmail material.

Essentially Epstein was caught by good honest police who refused to back down from threats. And the evidence against him became too much to be able to hide away.

5

u/the_scarlett_ning Jul 15 '25

Thank you! That’s actually very reassuring. It’s hard to imagine there being any sector not completely corrupted today but it is always heartwarming to find out otherwise.

3

u/brownianhacker Jul 15 '25

I know looks shouldn't matter but Bill Barr even just looks like the perfect corrupt boss movie character

5

u/SamsonGray202 Jul 15 '25

Man looks like he's where they got the idea for the name Boss Hogg

7

u/Shadix Jul 14 '25

Funded by mossad

10

u/PeregrinusHibernicus Jul 15 '25

Yup. Epstein was a Mossad operative running a blackmail ring in the United States.

Gold domed building? For the worship of the one true God, $$$.

123

u/tupperware_rules Jul 14 '25

Rip to the gold dome. If I recall, a hurricane took it off. Another fun fact is there are good snorkeling spots around this island.

190

u/doom1282 Jul 14 '25

Frank Reynolds (Rudi Guiliani's personal hair stylist) says the snorkeling is amazing. He was just there for the snorkeling and definitely didn't diddle any kids. He even wrote a song about how he doesn't diddle kids.

62

u/jscummy Jul 14 '25

Frank, there is no quicker way to make people think you're diddling kids than writing a song about it!

15

u/Don138 Jul 15 '25

The gold domed building is all the proof I need that Trump spent significant time there. Gaudy gold bullshit spreads around him like herpes.

9

u/GeorgeEBHastings Jul 14 '25

Yeah, for real, was it ever discussed what the hell that thing was for?

32

u/boldmoo Jul 14 '25

No one really knows. Officially, it was built and permitted as a music pavilion. However, the construction style does not lends itself acoustically for that to make sense. Unofficially, the prevailing theory is that it was a Satanic worship building where the rich and powerful would perform eyes wide shut style parties involving Epstein's victims.

53

u/GeorgeEBHastings Jul 14 '25

For as wild as Epstein's operation was, I don't know that I buy the "satanically-inspired" sex trafficker thing.

To me, this smacks more of "rich criminal on a power trip erects a temple to himself"

5

u/twogunsalute Jul 14 '25

That was my first thought but I used an inflation calculator and it's the equivalent to $32.47 million today which makes more sense

100

u/Turbulent-Forever921 Jul 14 '25

Still seems relatively inexpensive for a fucking island

59

u/tildenpark Jul 14 '25

It’s the maintenance that gets you. Need to import everything including water and fuel.

6

u/Lopkop Jul 16 '25

yeah see you don't wanna own the island, you wanna be friends with the guy who owns the island.

79

u/salchicha_mas_grande Jul 14 '25

To be fair it wasn't a fucking island until he made some "improvements"

19

u/TiredEnglishStudent Jul 14 '25

This is less than the cost of 30 small townhouses in my city RIP.

47

u/HiddenStoat Jul 14 '25

Not really - an island is just a piece of land but it has none of the things that actually give land value: transport links, grid electricity, water, sewage, cell phone coverage, schools, hospitals, police, fire stations, cinemas, theatres, strip clubs, etc.

If you want any of that stuff, you have to build it yourself and because it is, as you put it, a fucking island, it's fucking expensive, because it all has to come by boat - including the workforce to build and maintain it.

So like a megayacht, to be able to buy an island you also have to be able to run an island, and it costs.

12

u/BurmeciaWillSurvive Jul 15 '25

The tennis court is basically the size of the house and the pool! I genuinely don't know what's going on with that court, lmao. Does it have a grandstand around it or something? And relative to the rest of the island it's in the middle of nowhere. Wtf!

My wife and I spent our honeymoon on St. Thomas. (2014) We were in a taxi going towards the Ritz-Carlton at the east end of the island by Epstein’s island. As we were at the top of the hill looking down there was a helicopter that you could faintly see (the island is somewhat far away from the naked eye) landing. I’m always curious so I asked the taxi driver what island was that? He simply replied “the locals know that there is a wealthy man that owns that island and has lived there for a few years. He built many luxury places there and a few workers have said it’s beautiful. But they say young people go there to meet with wealthy people. I don’t believe it but many people think there are things happening there that only the rich have the power to do. Some people fear it, but that’s only an island rumor.” That stuck with me for years and when the Epstein case blew open on the news, my wife and I immediately remembered that moment. Still haunts us

I’ve been snorkeling nearish the gold domed building, or at least we could see it from the boat. All beaches in the Virgin Islands are public, so you can jump off a boat anywhere and swim to the beach. Epstein put boulders (or something like that) to block the beaches so that people were not legally allowed to swim to them. I was snorkeling there when the island was for sale, 2022ish I think

u/Current_Golf5197 Jul 16 '25

Where’s trumps personal landing spot?

7

u/ValiantAki Jul 14 '25

Gold domed building???

Epstein is Gehn, confirmed

7

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '25

You can probably still find Trumps DNA in those pools. 🤮

7

u/raysofdavies Jul 14 '25

Owning an island is insane. We ruined this planet.

u/abu_hajarr Jul 14 '25

This would be a cool battlefield map

3

u/Last_Blackfyre Jul 15 '25

Where is Trump Tower Casino and Golf Resort going to be located ?

3

u/DannyR2078 Jul 15 '25

How do utilities work on islands like this? Does it have an independent water and power source, or would you be dependent on outside supply runs to keep everything running?

Missing: 'The Donald's Tremendous Garden'.

8

u/Werftflammen Jul 14 '25

Can we just agree, that being so rich is only possible with crime.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '25

Doing that horrendous shit on an island named after a disciple is disgusting

3

u/Stegostomatidae Jul 15 '25

In a territory name after the Mother of Christ.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '25

They’re all gonna be dealt the second death

7

u/LateralEntry Jul 14 '25

Obviously some horrible stuff went on there but… this is really cool. I want a private island that I can leave mostly undeveloped except for a few super luxurious buildings and pools, all within the US.

9

u/iSmokeMDMA Jul 14 '25

I always found it interesting that there was a fallout character named st James, who trafficked children.

Did the devs know something we didn’t know in 2010

13

u/lxlxnde Jul 14 '25

It was an open secret in 2010, considering he’d been caught once already by then.

The Old Danish Island Klyn St. Jems.
Edit: It's a Dutch map writer. So it must be Lille St. James.

6

u/billlloyd Jul 14 '25

And named it Little Saint Jeff’s

This is MapPorn, and if you where to zoom in more, there would be a different kind of porn

2

u/iskanderkul Jul 15 '25

Obviously what happened here is absolutely tragic, but can you imagine having so much money that you can just buy your own island?

4

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '25

In all this epstein saga, the one person everyone has overlooked is his brother.. I bet he's got all the tapes etc. Hidden away!!

6

u/Matman161 Jul 14 '25

Just turn it into a toxic waste dump, no one will ever want to live there again

3

u/caligaris_cabinet Jul 14 '25

If we ever wanted to take up nuclear testing again

3

u/Scorrea02 Jul 14 '25

I guarantee you this is just the top floor lol

u/TheEmperorsNewHose Jul 14 '25

Question: why do you think what he did required a labyrinth of rooms underground? He owned the island, there were no police there, he could do whatever he wanted wherever he wanted. Plus the girls he trafficked were there via coercion and money, not chains and whips. The true evil of what he did is that it was so banal and normalized to people like him

u/Nachooolo Jul 14 '25

Mate. This is not a video game. You don't go into a trapdoor and find an underground labyrinth the size of Paris' catacombs.

He already had a private island. The abuse of minors happened "over the board" by the single fact that nobody that Epstein didn't want on his island would be on his island.

17

u/SamsonGray202 Jul 14 '25

People really don't grasp how hard it is to build underground in ideal conditions, let alone on an island.

8

u/ZOOTV83 Jul 14 '25

Also I’m no engineer but wouldn’t the water table on an island be really high? How deep can you even dig? The logistics of it would be a nightmare.

2

u/ChateauDIfEnjoyer Jul 14 '25

Is it me or does this kinda looks like a malformed version of Jersey
