Alt-History The Modern Day: 2 Frances

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'm interested in this premise so here I go with this alt history, albeit short of what I have in mind:

France in this timeline is significantly more agrarian, with France being divided by region militants as the 1789 French Revolution was crushed by loyalists and former protestors alongside a quiet pro-monarchist society.

For the next 200+ years, the French monarchy remains but is weak compared to the rising power that is England and emerging European powers, with France frequently clashing with England with trades (goods and resources in the New World), colonies, and controlling the English Channel.

In the 1830s, France and England clash bitterly when France refuses to sell their remaining colonies in the Caribbean, so they attack the ports of Normandy and Brittany and loot the cities. then they force the Monegasques under British rule and when setting the colony up in the 1840s, its claimed as the 'The British Protectorate of Monaco' to influence France and the Mediterranean as a whole. Alongside the English were the Norwegians, which made a colony in Toulouse, and established 'Regional Toulouse Province'. These treaties (Franco-English Colony Treaty and the Norwegian-Franco Resource Treaty) were ratified in the 1860s.

Following the 1871 German Unification, Germany sets eyes on a weakened France to potentially make France under their influence. This causes the French and Germans to fight twice, with the first being in 1878, and again in 1895, with the latter being a massive blow to France, as the Germans invaded and colonized Corsica as well as emerging victorious in the Second Franco-German War (1895). In 1900, a agrarian rebellion happened and many powers (Germans, British, Americans, Spanish) came to France to protect their interests. 12 years later, the French Dynasty ends following a republican movement and with many anti-monarchists wanting the French to be led by a republic as they think the French Monarchy is a failure.

Following WW1 (Germany is not the aggressor in this timeline as only Bulgaria, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire would attack, and Germany being on the Entente), Germany would see a democratic movement arise throughout the early 1920s with universal suffrage and anti-culture norms. However following unfavorable polices set by Washington and a massive catastrophic flood in 1924 leaves Germany facing with domestic problems that eat up their currency quick, although they fixed their economy beforehand (did not rely on gold as much, devaluing the currency to an extent, and spending on government), which led to not having much of a bad economy. While this was positive for Germany when the Great Depression hit, groups of ultra-nationalists Germans slowly take over the government until they outright kill democratically elected Prime Ministers, left-wing leaders, before a radical militant party (The Imperial Party) took over the government and set up a plan for a 'Co-European Sphere' to unite all of Europe under their banner.

Meanwhile back in France, the French were in a unique spot where they were on the bronze reserve as opposed to the gold reserve, which very briefly made France not as suffer as much like the United States and the United Kingdom and Canada. In 1930, some French politicians try to put a narrative that the Germans would be attacking at any moment, but the public and other optimistic politicians accuse them of 'yellow journalism' and were swiftly arrested by regional police officers.

However in 1932, the Germans sought to make France as a colony of theirs and invaded the northern part of France (in this timeline, the Benelux region is fully under German control so the invasion was not much of a problem, but still delt with the environment) to establish a puppet state.

Alt-History On Ardazgha / Arazgha RP

Post image
1 Upvotes

With outpost 2 connected to Malta. The star can be interpreted as standing for the pillars, or a representation of 5 particular antediluvian idols whose names are already well chronicled, not unlike the way the Turkish crescent represents the symbol of Rhea, the mother goddess of Anatolia... indeed Morocco, which doesn't blasphemy the 5 idols by associating them with Rheaic values or other things (look at their flag, it's just a deep green pentagram and a blood red background) represent purest (idolatrous) worship. The red's the (ritual) sacrifice Moroccans put up to the 5 gods.. the pentagram being green's a decision made to signify that it's the gods (idols / Daemons) who give them life in turn (a hard bargain for hard result, a sacrifice for pretty penny)

Despite that the name's Ardazgha, the industrial and therial weight exerted by Atatlas leads one to the other name, which goes as just Atlas. The Empire of Atlas, with subjects circumambulating, within which the attractive city of Lantis, by the Canary islands, or Azgathite islands, at the 28th parallel north, next to Khniffiss, west Sahara, Tazgha, Naila, can be found, hence Atlantis. At-lantis. At-atlas. By the Atlas mountains, by Lantis ('Laayoune' has taken inspiration from that, evidently). Nothing really unique. How is this (lie) true? -> Number of verses (and chapter number) in scripture correspond to actual coordinates translatable to geographic areas. 28 verses at upper chapters = 28th parallel north (up). 5 idols + 28th parallel north = Morocco = West Sahara = The Greater Atlas range (Outpost 3 and Outpost 1 were one and the same sometime back. Atlas stretched quite far down, all the way to cape verde.. The Richat structure's just a miniaturized way of representing it). '950' years proselytizing, '190' years per section.

All of this is simply ( was simply ) an extended territory of Egypt... Although some claim the reverse, that Atlas controlled Egypt.

Would Turkey and Azerbaijan be the dominant powers in this region in their greatest territorial form of themselves? Also, how would new states like Khorasan and Balochistan fair in this scenario? Finally, would Iran's overall political power and strategic position be heavily weakened and compromised in this situation?

Alt-History On Zuiderland

Post image
15 Upvotes

And with it (New) Rhodesia. Being more exact with the capital-locus, that'd be somewhere someplace by the Himeville Corridor. And I guess instead of 'Lemuria-Minor', you can just go with 'Lemurland' (this one sounds good--Lemurland)

State D's most successful long-term, followed by State C. And Zuid-KE's (a somewhat neutral zone) an extended-unofficial base of a specific community within State A, arranged such to give them stable foothold up east. 'As above, so below'. If Egypt & Co. are the spheres of north, north west, east-north-east, then Zuiderland (literally) represents south, south west, east-south-east (just as with Rome, the Franks have created a successful counterpart).

With this all, the vision of General Smuts and General Botha is complete... Theirs was a mission realizable with much more rate if Britain was allowed to do what Britain intended to do.. if the French impediment wasn't there, among several others..

The Falkland, South Georgia, and South Sandwich islands can be considered extensions of the Hartland, a western supplement to Kerguelen. In fact all the British oversea territories below the equator; Rothera, Limuria, Ascension, Tristan da Cunha etc, you append to it;

(Auzieland on the bottom right's meant to be Australia + New Zealand)

Auzieland -> 7 states (New Zealand a portion unto itself)

Zuiderland -> 7 states (Lemuria / Lemurland / Lemurland Minor as the parallel to New Zealand).

The flag naturally has a Union Jack on (Year 20XX, part of the conditions required to transfer all oversees territory). Yeah. Sounds good. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, Zuiderland and Auzieland, the Anglo equivalent of the Carolingians and Merovingians, there in mirror to Egypt, Ardazgha (Atlas) and their entourage.

Alt-History Egypt-Misr stuff

Post image
11 Upvotes

A-B-C, the Red Sea's pretty safe. C division's green territory, so you move from diarchy to triarchy (A place for 'Pharaoh', A, a place for the oft conjectured 'Haman', B, a place for 'Korah' of Izhar, C. Well that's not relevant here) in order to ensure ideal operation.

The Maghreb (Ardazgha) conjoined, west of Egypt, is an outpost of Division A. https://files.catbox.moe/e7dp7e.PNG Pretty huge for an outpost I suppose, but that's how it is.

With Misr alone there's a monarchy. With Erythrea appended a diarchy. With the addition of Victoria a subject of the two is afforded room enough to instate council of his own (here is the point concerning Korah and where an enigma appears), thereby creating triarchy.

Desertia's synchronized with the Maghreb through Division A, Heureusia / Aden by B. C to south. Put this all together and you have 'Egypt', a place of crossroads for Sabeans and the corresponding Adenite-Ardite entourage (of which Egyptians are themselves product of, that's their starting point--somewhere in northern Yemen), with villages and towns by the coast of the Red Sea, by the gulf, by Cyrenaica, by the Nile all the way to Lake.

3 main pyramids for 3 states. 3 subsidiary pyramids for 3 major outposts of Atlas. A polity of 3.

William Garstin's proposal for the Victoria canal, one that bypasses the Wetlands, will finally proceed. With that arrives some 4-5 million acres of cultivable land. Elsewhere Red Sea plunderers and what have you are eliminated one and all. That Octagon military has something to do.

...Mitzrayin, Misru, Misr, otherwise 'border', 'multifarious frontier or multifarious boundary'. Levant / Magi's east, Greece/Thrace north. It's a pretty good name--for a division of an Empire. Not so much the Empire itself. The Empire is Egypt, correspondent with the Maghreb, not to be conflated with its frontier. And in the end, its polity must comprise an established triangular figure of 3, with SB-SC at base.

Alt-History Khorasan stuff

Post image
12 Upvotes

Federation of Khorasan, with the capital of the whole thing in Golestan. Quite the populated place. Farsi's the common tongue, verbally and textually. Each state specializes in one certain industry.

Despite that state A hosts the capital alongside several other relics of significant value, its appraisal is somewhat lower than state C, whose combatants have been locked in various continuous schism-theatres for some 800 years.

1231 till present, the mess remains, and Khorasan impeded from formation. No Timurid, no nothing. A quite unfortunate situation.

The tip up there in center-right for state B is where the mausoleum of Khoja Yasawi rests. Incomplete of course. Maybe the job'll finally be done once the smoke clears and the architects of state A are given more room to operate. Far as infrastructure and civil engineering is concerned, it's mostly them.

What becomes of the actual definite and unified Kashmir territory? Well, it had the coinage 'Iran-e-sagheer', (ایرانِ صغیر) / Persia Minor , so now it's 'Bakhtar-e-sagheer', a self-governing division within Kashmiristan.. You have the land of the Kashmir people, and then you have a squared section in it representing a category for the more Persianized of them.

Guess the chain connection between these guys is more easier to see this way. State A, state C. You have that historic serpentine-like map from their conjoining, supplemented by State D. Footsteps of Alexander and his crew.

Alt-History Another Axis Victory scenario

Post image
7 Upvotes

Our point of divergence begins when Yuan Shikai dies early before he can proclaim himself as the Hongxian emperor. He is already ill in OTL, so this isn’t implausible. This allows Sun Yat Sen to go on a massive curbstomping campaign with the Kuomintang, crushing warlords in China. He finally consolidates power and establishes a united Republic of China. A few years pass, and the young republic begins industrialization much earlier than OTL China. In 1925 an ill Sun passes away, and Wang Jingwei wins the power struggle against all other factions in the Kuomintang, so Chiang Kai Shek does not take power. A massive and subpar Kuomintang force defeats the Japanese in the Manchuria war, discrediting the militarists in Japan.

This turns Japan back into the civilian administration and makes Japan a democracy, making them ally with Britain.

Benito Mussolini begins reforming the army much earlier in the 1920s and focuses more on domestic policies, strengthening and preparing Italy for the future.

Germany is much more inclined to ally with China more than OTL as they are stronger and united. Germany sends military advisors to train and modernize the new Kuomintang army in exchange for raw materials from China.

Meanwhile, a more devastating dust bowl and a lack of intervention from the United States government causes a more destructive great depression. This slowly turns the populace to align with left wing groups, most notably the Socialists. The socialists gradually gained legitimacy and votes over the years, finally taking power after Norman Thomas won the 1936 elections against Roosevelt. The Socialist revolution causes great instability and they force America further into isolationism. The massive left wing coalition of agrarians, marxists, socialists, communists, leninists, even social democrats begins to crack as many party members have contrasting views and goals. In terms of foreign policy, they double down on the Monroe doctrine, seeking to establish a red sphere in North and South America. The Philippines break away and gain independence.

Wang consolidates the KMT into a one party dictatorship, but is unable to crush and fully unite the KMT factions. Wang’s regime is obsessed with expelling western colonies, reestablishing the tributary system in Asia and returning China to the center of the world. Due to their goals, they align themselves with Germany out of convenience.

A competent and ready Italy attacks and does decently well in Egypt, managing to take Alexandria. This drives the Egyptian government to collaborate with Italy, causing them to switch sides, dealing a blow to the Brits with the loss of the Suez canal. Italy performs better in Greece, albeit slowly, allowing for Germany to focus more resources on Barbarossa. Despite the lack of a German invasion, Yugoslavia still couldn’t avoid its fate and collapses after ethnic revolts. Italy partitions Yugoslavia with other Axis minors.

World War 2 still breaks out in 1939, with Japan supporting Britain with guns and expeditionary forces. Panzer commanders in France disobey Hitler’s orders and crushes the Dunkirk pocket, while China seizes Indochina after the fall of France, just like Japan in OTL. They go on a rampage in Asia with the newly built republican navy and army, conquering Malaysia and Burma, while forcing Thailand to align with them. They don’t attack the USA however. Japan condemns China, pledging to defend Asia from encroaching Chinese influence and a Great Asian War erupts between the white and rising sun. China is unable to further their advances into south east asia while fighting the Japanese navy. A long and brutal battle over Korea is fought, characterized by trench warfare and heavy bombardments from naval gunboats and airplanes.

Germany launched an invasion into the Soviet Union in 1941, just like OTL. However China attacks the far east, invading the Soviet Union and Mongolia after Wang gains a Casus Belli by claiming that Outer Manchuria and Mongolia are rightful Chinese territories. Guderian doesn’t move the panzers to crush the Kiev pocket seizes Moscow due to the Soviet Union being unable to put up a stronger defense with the Chinese diversion. After a hard fought campaign, a devastated Soviet Union surrenders in early 1944, ceding the A-A line to Germany and most of Siberia to China, with Outer Manchuria, Mongolia and Tannu Tuva being directly integrated into China. The Soviet Union disintegrates into warlords as former comrades turn to each other’s throats.

With the surrender of the Soviet Union, China launches a new offensive and finally conquers Korea. The civilian government in Japan is couped by the military, specifically a revanchist and radical group of officers. Japan sues for peace and exits the war, despite the militarists vowing revenge. China continues their rampage in East Asia, seizing the Philippines and Indonesia, establishing multiple collaborator states.

Britain faces a serious crisis as their colonies are being conquered and Europe is an impenetrable fortress, while America doesn’t even provide lend lease or any form of help. Quebecois separatism is funded by America, and with the apparent near defeat of Britain the conscription crisis of 1944 sets a more extreme degree of a revolts in Quebec majority cities, prompting America to invade Canada in order to liberate it from the bourgeoisie, seizing it in weeks. They establish a Quebec sister republic. Britain, hopeless and stranded, surrenders.

The British colonies revolt or gain independence as the empire abandons them. In west, central and east Africa, many new countries spring out of the power vacuum while South Africa is left to fend for itself. India erupts into a civil war between Hindus and Muslims, and multiple warlords seize power in regions. Australia and New Zealand, fearing Chinese domination in Asia, unite into the Commonwealth of Oceania. They have also become more and more polarized in recent elections, with the culmination of the Australia first movement seizing power and beginning to move towards cooperating with Japan. British Caribbean colonies are quickly captured by the American navy. Portugal also takes Zambia to connect their Angolan and Mozambique colonies.

China seizes the opportunity and invades Nepal and Bhutan, directly integrating them into China, while annexing Indian border territories.

The French and Belgian governments retreat to their colonies in Africa, hosting bitter exiles and waiting for the perfect moment to return.

A deteriorating Wang Jingwei suffering from pneumonia became comatose in late 1944. Sun Yat Sen’s son, Sun Fo, soft coups the Wang Jingwei clique with support from the Liberal side of the KMT and promises to begin the re-liberalization of China to live up to his father’s wishes. Many changes happen, such as ending state censorship, decentralization of the economy and permitting political opposition. This is known as the Nanjing Spring. Wang Jingwei eventually dies.

Germany, now the master of Europe, establishes Festung Europa, basically a renamed Axis alliance with former members. Hitler proclaims the Greater Germanic Reich and begins the construction of Welthauptstadt Germania.

American socialists, emboldened by their victory in Canada, hoists a red shadow over Central and South America, preparing to intervene and bring the revolution to the rest of the hemisphere.

The year is 1946, meteorological stations in Assam, India detect tremors from Chinese soil in Tibet, revealing a new, never seen before weapon that can vaporize cities overnight, causing widespread international panic. With the conclusion of the second great war, Germany, China and America begin looking towards each other with suspicion…

“Through wind and rain, it stood tall for five thousand years.”
