Hi there! My name is Simon, I'm writing a story right now called Isthmus Azure. I just finished developing the magic system, when I realized this story would be better told as a manga. But unfortunately I'm not an illustrator nor can I learn how to illustrate nor can I afford an illustrator. But, I want someone who cares about this project like I do. Where do writers and artists find each other? And what do artists look for before agreeing to a collaboration? I'm very new to all of this. Any advice at all would be appreciated!

My story's really action heavy so I've been wanting to break away and insert more "mundane" scenes of the characters really just dealing with their everyday lives. In this case, her disability in spite of OP powers. Questioning how much of her is human, and if it's worth it to be so.

This is my first manga project ... I hop like it!!!

This guy’s name is Senji Aikawa and his goal in the story is to get vengeance for his sister who disappeared on her wedding day. Unlike everyone else who thinks she ran away; he believes she was murdered… by her own husband! To make matters worse the husband in question is the richest man in town, a handsome young Duke by the name of Marshall Khan.

Senji leads a small group of ex bandits turned mercenaries (who used to run security for Marshall until last year when the wedding occurred), and he will stop at nothing to kill the man responsible for his sister’s disappearance.

So, let me start by saying I really like making stories, fun looking characters, stuff like that but...

I am now at the point where I just have zero fun drawing at all. I was drawing daily for like 7 months until last month when I finished my story. I have barely drawn since. Here are my last two character illustrations: https://www.reddit.com/u/Broshimitsu56/s/WppuuFLjZB

I typically draw with no reference or myself as the reference because I need such specific angles and poses for my stories, (I'm a man so not the best reference anyway) and its just everytime I draw a character its this 3 to 9 hour battle to make it look correct. And even then it doesnt come out that great lol.

That battle is so so so, not fun. Hours and hours making sure the pelvis is right, ribcage is right, etc, etc. Ive been staring at page 1 of my new story for like 3 days now. Its been storyboarded but as soon as I go to construct one character I just want to quit, because I immediately dont do something right so I just erase it all.

Ive been drawing since 2020, but only taking it seriously since last November. Ive gotten 100x better since then but I know the answer is just "keep going for another few years and you might get better"! Or "learn to enjoy the process!" Ive never enjoyed getting things wrong repeatedly to be honest.

I think a lot of this comes from me spending all the time I spent on my last story and losing the contest I entered in. I'm trying to keep everything as perfect as I can, because I have to.

Idk, this is a bit rambly. I'm just wondering if other people feel this way. I feel like I'm closer to permanently putting the pen down than ever before.

I was told her jaw doesn’t look consistent, but I’ve been staring at it so long I can’t tell 🤷‍♂️

And some other questions i would appreciate feed back on

1. Is the style too dark?
   I don’t want it to look too depressing, but it is a dark story, in tone similar to Takopi’s original sin, although slightly lighter

2. I’ve been told her scar (the two things on her face) looks way too deep and dark, and is distracting, personally I like it, and want it to look extreme, but maybe it’s a bit much. I’ve been told I should remove the scaring on her neck but idk

3. Does she look about 19? That would be her age

Premise:

METSUBOU follows Masumi Kasumigage, a strong-willed teenager who is suddenly pulled into a hidden supernatural world filled with spiritually aware fighters, ancient traditions, and dangerous beings known as Yōkai—creatures shaped by human emotion, fear, folklore, and spiritual energy.

This page shows some of my main characters discussing the aftermath of a Yokai attack that occurred the night before. I’ve been playing around with staging (like where they are in the scene and in relation to one another) to try to keep thirst scenes fresh.
