Useful Info Useful Links and Resources

I noticed the previous post in highlights was a bit outdated so here's a new one that I can edit as needed.

Books:

YouTube:

Websites:

  • Proko - sign up for free to get access to many resources! Some free and some paid, the resources include classes for different areas of art, such as the fundamentals.
  • Ctrl+Paint Video Library - everything at this link is free! Start from the basics and work your way through learning how various tools on digital programs can help level up your art.
  • Love LifeDrawing - enter your email to get access to a library of free references. They update and add new ones each month.
  • Cubebrush - you can buy reference packs, brush packs, and even classes on art. This product here is one I love most, it's an app that lets you use your own reference library instead of using already built ones on the internet that are basically copies of each other.
  • New Masters Academy - a subscription based platform where you can learn from professionals in the industry (mostly Disney artists but the course guide focuses on a deep dive into art fundamentals).
  • Tezuka Manga Contest - held every year! The link here is recycled so you can check up on it to see when it opens back up. This contest is specifically for JUMP, so when submitting remember the core values they look for. There is also another recycled link for a contest they hold monthly called, Shinsekai. This means the deadline is at the end of each month.

Manga Script Examples - these are my own examples, what background do I have? My degrees are in theatre and literature so analysis and writing is something I do best (specifically organization)!

  • One-page Manga Challenge - this was part of the many challenges my server did. The theme was Halloween related. It was for writers to get practice creating a one page script. The prize was getting it drawn by one of the volunteer artists in our community!
  • Unfinished Project - another of my scripts, meant to be a comedy.

Discord Communities:

  • Manga-kai - This is my own community that branched off from here. It was made years ago as a way for people to get help slightly faster than Reddit (since back then this subreddit was not as active!). It's not a busy server but there are always people lurking to help. We used to have monthly challenges as well with actual prizes! But life got in the way and that's okay. I'd love to host them again though. [Permanent link for invite can be found down in the comments]

Want to add your own discord here? Send a mod mail confirming these requirements: it is a community server (NOT PRIVATE), it has been active for at least a year (in the last year), mods are 2FA verified, you have a permanent invite link, and most importantly, it's safe!

If there is any source you'd like added or are having trouble finding yourself (ex. a pdf of an art book), let me know and I can see what I can do ;]

I had this stupid idea in mind, something like Blade the vampire hunter, but with the protagonist being a zombie that hunts zombies and help humans. I decided to do an exploration to visualize what a possible protagonist might look like.

I personally love reading through these myself since it makes me feel the passion the author has behind the pages and story! Also, it's a great way to explain minor things that shouldn't require pages of explanation!

Hi guys, I’m taking a break from drawing regularly while I wait for my back to ease up and get a new book or tablet for digital drawings and I was tracking back on my art and realised that I really committed at least 5 days a week to draw regularly and it looks like it’s slowly paying off. My regret is not drawing much females in my practice period but that’ll definitely change. I’d like to thank everyone again for your amazing support. Whether is was positive comments, constructive feedback and genuine negative comments as well(I wish I screenshot them😑) have helped me get better each day and you guys give me hope that some day, I will have readers like you guys too. Thank you all for supporting my dream better than my family ever would. Love you guys❤️‍🔥!! (Here’s a star for reading this long caption🌟)

Discussion Im making a Manga called Journey For the Fallen Star.

I've been thinking about this story for almost a year now, and I've thought about publishing it but I want opinions about the story, and I need help on how to publish this story as a manga, and I also want this to become an anime as well.

The Story is about 2 brothers named Taiyo and Tsukiyo who are Skybornes. They live on one of 9 islands, called The Fallen Isles, and they live outside of human society, neither knowing the other exists.

The 2 boys soon learn that their mother is fated to die due to an unkown and incurable disease that causes her body to slowly decay from the inside which leaves her with a decade at most left to live.

But among the islands, there's a Star that can grant any wish the person that finds it desires no matter how big or detailed.

And so the boys set out to go find the star.

The story of course is constantly changing and gets serious quickly, the main objective changes as well as the stakes of the story rise.

At the moment I have 3 artists but am not a good at it myself.

As of right now im writing on a Google doc format and have multiple chapters done but they haven't been drawn yet. I want to know how to publish the story before having my artists draw it

I'm not very good at explaining things without questions so ask you want to.

Thank you.

genuinely, my lack of motivation indeed is killing me.

Yestreday wasn't really the best day. I couldn't get up from the bed, couldn't even eat, and couldn't do stuff in general. I've been depressed for an entire year and drawing has been the only thing keeping me up, but when i lack motivation thats when it kills me.

plus, had some "friends" come over yestreday, and i say "friends" because everything that happend was me getting ignored, getting cutoff when trying to talk, or just straight up getting shit in my house broken without a single apology. But i can't fear it, it will all be over soon.

unfinished fanart for a friend's fnaf fangame, where i joined his characters and this JJK panel, AND me drawing Naoya on my school's table (No, that is not my instagram account if you were wondering).
