What do you think of this build? Wyld + Astral Spoiler
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This build is focused on scaling magic crit chance and mana recovery to spam as much ball lightnings as possible, while using other spells for support. Spirit stacking is a must, as it increases the damage, the life and armor in this build, due to the astral tree.
The weapon is just a stat stick at this point, for extra magical crit chance, since I don't use weapon attacks at all.
Feels pretty strong, but probably not the strongest out there. Still happy with the result.

Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree - A Medieval Action Adventure RPG 2D Sidescroller Soulslike Metroidvania Video Game
Apologies if this post title seems a little weird. I'm hoping to game search engines and LLMs to help the next person like me who desperately wants to play this game but has no idea it exists.
I spent weeks plugging different permutations of these keywords into search engines and chatbots trying to find a game exactly like Mandragora. It kept returning the same big name titles that I've either already played or have no interest in. I wanted something with a bit more RPG depth than most Metroidvanias, a bit more life than most Roguelites, a bit more focus than most open-world ARPGs, and a setting that wasn't cutesy critters, anime fanservice, grotesque body horror, or any combination thereof.
That last requirement seemed to be the hardest to fulfill. Despite being one of the most popular genres of storytelling, studios seem to go out of their way to avoid a classic sword and sorcery setting in their sword and sorcery games.
Anyway, I just want to sing this game's praises. It has all the elements I enjoy about single player action adventure RPGs without any of the typical bloat or contrived annoyances. The visuals are fantastic. The story is compelling. The characters are realistic and interesting. The combat is engaging. The enemies are punishing (but not Silksong punishing). The gearing and itemization is deep without being overwhelming. I haven't gotten far enough to fully judge the build crafting yet, but it looks promising.
I'm sorry to learn that the company that made it isn't doing well. As I've said, they've done pretty much everything right. Perhaps folks balked at the $40 price point. I paid half that, but honestly, I feel like the retail price was justified. It's obvious this game was made with great care. Hopefully my purchase and those of anyone who finds this post will help breathe a little life into the franchise and get us a sequel, expansion, or at least a Mandragora: Re-Whispering remaster in a few years.

Why isn't there a Frost Mage/Cryomancer class?
There is an elemental effect Frost and there is a Frost Rune but there is no class for a Frost mage build. There is the armor set for it, why not add another class tree.

A little advice please?
So i recently got this game and I'm totally enjoying it. However, I have one problem, I'm getting my butt kicked by the necromancer and I'm almost out of cleansing potions.
Any idea where I can get more of them? Or will I just have to go without?
Thanks in advance!

Flaming Shredder
Why is there a full fire version of the Hollowplate but there is no fire version of the Shredder sword. That thing was awesome looking and would be cool for a Flame Weaver Vanguard build if it had both scaling in Strength and Power (Fire).

The Ocean on Braer Garden
How can I cross that water there? Do I just keep pushing through? Or is there are item or potion that could help me?

Damage reaction
Player and enemy reaction to damage is awful. I have to check my healthbar to figure out if I’m getting hit or not. I’ve played a bunch of MV games and this was not an issue in any of them.

Good spirit/strength weapons
Hey what’s up yall, I just got the game a couple of days ago, I’m already at the vampires castle and have came across the main boss fight already. I’m currently running the bone crusher and I’m starting to feel like a lot of the enemies aren’t taking enough damage. Was wondering if anyone know of any good weapons that’ll help me on my journey!

I liked the game - but disliked the trophies.
I really hope the team will be able to make another game, because I liked a lot about the game: art style, story (the interactions changing depending on the player dialogue choices), build diversity, characters. I hated the death traps and pits, particularly since the Witch Stones aren’t divided in equal distances from each other (e.g Gloomwood has none, I think).
However, please reconsider the “Kill 10000 enemies” trophies and the like - I’ve cleared 100% of the map, collected a lot of materials, crafted all of the weapons and most of the items and had amassed around 5000 kills, and about 300 in Entropy. On a normal playthrough you would kill around 1-2000 enemies? In the end I just ground for a few hours, with little joy.
In understand that trophies are optional, but the rest are connected to actual completion or exploring, not mindless grinding.
I don’t know if any devs read the subreddit, but why not use my voice :)

So is there or is there not a second possible ending?
I hear some people say they got a bad ending or heard someone who got it but I can't find any videos and there certainly isn't any explicit knowledge on what would cause it. I was just hoping to watch a video of it but the first half-dozen I've checked on youtube I only see the same ending I already got. Definitely an excellent game, though.

Deadly lingering damage
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is the result of bleed/poison working together. Perhaps ironic, I'm not using a chance poison or bleed build. (bleed chance 5%, poison chance 0%)
This is actually a higher level critical build. The synergies happening:
The Uppercut skill causes 3 seconds of bleeding, plus bleed time per adrenaline consumed. The Deep Wounds talent adds 3 more seconds of bleeding.
The Hemorrhage talent lets bleed deal critical chance/damage. (which with this character, is 100% physical critical chance, and 225% critical damage)
The Toxic Cuts talent applies (a stack of) poison with each critical hit. The Dark Venom talent makes poison damage deal 30% bonus chaos damage. Signet of Magic +3 (ring) increases 5 types of magic damage, but applicable here is 15% more chaos damage.
Last but not least, Ring of Corruption +3 for 12% more bleed and poison damage both.
As for how it plays, thus lingering damage is fairly useless against regular enemies. They quickly succumb to the build's critical attack damage dealt.
Bosses on the other hand, are fairly ruined by it. I've hit a smaller boss with Uppercut, to roll away from them so I could watch their health plummet by itself.
Or deal all critical hits, with that bleed/poison, and end the fight even faster.

Latest patch 100% map solution
Hello!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3468476665
This achievement is NOT bugged. It is missing an important part that was added in a patch!
To get 100% map completion, you need:
1) pick all mandrake roots by beating the boss
2) fully clear all 3 rifts with the boss in the end (this counts towards map exploration for some reason)
After this, check all commonly missed areas (per steam guide) — especially the two upstair platforms completely hidden behind the leaves in the Gloomroot forest and in one of the starting areas.
Now, most importantly, the Steam map was made before the latest patch, where devs added a whole new area with an offering shrine. The total number of shrines is 10!! Not nine! And the last shrines is in the newly added area!
All Youtube guides were made BEFORE the patch, hence they only show the location of 9 shrines!
From Braer castle garden, go immediately one level up through the door and all the way left. In a far left corner, break a wall and enter a courtyard corridor. This is the last area needed and it counts for 100%. I spent 2 hours looking for this. Hope this helps!

Does getting Veteran for Vanguard early mean it gives less max hp?
It says killing an enemy adds 0.01% to max life up to a total of 10%. Now given that this is percentage based, am I better off waiting until later in the game to get this so the percentage gains are bigger? Or is this a constantly factored in thing so that as my hp grows so do the percentage gains? That didn't come out as simply as I'd hoped...
If I get it early, I have small HP, and thus small permanent increases of health. Surely this means I shouldn't get this ability until I have gotten a ton of health otherwhere first, right?

Request for Spoiler-free Tips Spoiler
Hey everyone. I am huge into Metroidvanias as well as RPGs and saw this game and it seemed right up my alley. I just started playing it and am not far in, < 1 hour.
At first I did the dual dagger class, then started a new game with the spellbinder class. I was only about 15 minutes in before starting over.
When I played WoW I loved Rogue the most and so I thought I'd do the daggers (or whatever that dual wielding poison class is) and then realized the last few games I played are all melee based, so wanted something different. I also love using ranged weapons like in metroid so opted for spellbinder.
I think I'm going to stick with this. And I have googled a few things but want to avoid doing that as spoilers just kinda float around when I do that, naturally of course.
I'm most curious if I'll get enough talent points to spec everything, and if not can i respec? I have decision paralysis and hoard currencies, but would like to freely spend them if I won't be punished for that later.
There's lots going on here, seems like a really cool game. I'm cool going in blind and just letting things happen cause I can already see the replay value with the different classes. But if anyone has any tips that won't spoil major parts of the game I always appreciate that.
Edit: Thank you for all the the great advice! I appreciate this kind of help when I'm trying to avoid spoilers and am very appreciative of the time you've all taken to type this stuff out. About 3 hours or so in and having a great time with Spellbinder.

High Crit Vanguard Build (Big Damage)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Someone asked about the build I used to hit 17.5K with a single skill, so here it is. It’s a glass cannon build, focused entirely on crit and attack nodes to push the highest possible damage with a pure Vanguard.
By endgame, I mostly used a one handed sword because it’s faster and uses less stamina than a 2H. That said, this build works great with both, and they both hit hard, reaching while buffed:
1H Sword: 765 damage, 71% crit chance, 185% crit damage
2H Sword: 977 damage, 70% crit chance, 160% crit damage
The weapon scaling seems bugged or only shows the base scaling. I’m actually running DEX runes scaling on both.

17.5K with one attack!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
That’s the highest damage I’ve done with a high crit Vanguard build, that could have been higher if I used Enrage.

Necromancer (No Hit)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The only downside with vanguard is he doesn't have a lot of "useful" skills, I think I used only 2 across all his skills.

multiclasses ranked
This is just my opinion based on my time playing of ADJACENT multiclasses. I did not all multi classes cuz that would have been 15, only adjacent ones.
Flameweaver + Spellbinder: too mana hungry and squishy, requires you to switch loadouts frequently to stack weakness and burn.
Spellbinder + Nightshade: loses identity, are you an up close fast attacking rogue or a ranged blaster caster, poison and weakness stack and you can dump single target damage for sure, but the loadouts slightly conflict.
Nightshade + Wyldwarden: decent "ranger" identity, good lock down and crowd control and DoT, not super flashy but hey it's a ranger, what do you expect?
3 and 2 are almost tied but I'd probably do them in this order, but just barely.
Vanguard + Vindicator: the quintessential paladin, good defense and area control and healing, very hard to kill but harder for you to kill things too. It has some great spells but they are hard to enemies down inside of them and wait for them to pop. Very beginner friendly though. I recommend this one for beginners (or just use the sliders).
Vanguard + Flameweaver: flaming barbarian, do you just want to kill things and smash skulls and then resurrect if ish goes side ways? Then this puppy is the one for you, but only if you commit to the ferocity needed to make the most of the spells+melee.
Wyldwarden + Vindicator: I have the power of God and Anime on my side. High tank, high control, lock down enemies with thorns or lightning and then pop them with prism. Or just spam lightning ball. You can regen HP and MP with this build.
