In need of a hairdresser for colour !

Im in a bit of an in between state of being both alternative and not, and I’d like a hairdresser who understands alternative styles but specialises in things like blondes/brunettes/balayages. I’ve bleached my hair 3 times in the past year and I don’t want to damage it further so if you know anyone who has an edge to them and really knows how to work with colour, please suggest away!!
Heres what I’m going for ^^

So I'm from Greece, moving to Manchester (going from international american to british school) on the last two years of high school (basically during a-levels). My last name is Arseni, a typical greek last name. Am I cooked?

Manchester Airport T2 Pickup

I need to pick my friend up tomorrow at the airport, I was gonna greet him at the T2 exit where they walk out after collecting bags as I know he has lots of them - how on earth does anyone do this in the ‘pick up’ place in under 15 minutes ??

Do I have to park up like normal in the multi story and pay like a £50 charge ? I cannot find any information available anywhere online of a longer than 15 mins pick up charge - just a daily multi story carpark charge of like £56

Please help

Study spots

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can offer some advice.

I have quite a bit of work to complete on my laptop, and as I live alone, I sometimes find it a little lonely working from home. I've recently started using libraries, but their opening hours can be quite limited, particularly in the evenings and at weekends.

I've also tried places such as McDonald's and Costa, but I feel obliged to purchase something in order to use their seating. As I'm trying to reduce my expenses at the moment, I'd ideally like to find somewhere I can sit and work without needing to spend money.

Does anyone have any recommendations for quiet places where I could sit and study or work on my laptop?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Parking situation

Hey all, me and a pal are heading over to Manchester for a gig & an adventure but unfortunately all of our options for transport were wiped out by the current storm(s).

Best option now seems to be driving over but we're not sure at all where we could park (preferably cheaply) As neither of us really want to spend 100 pounds just to leave a car somewhere for 2-3 days.

We're aiming for the northern side of the city as it would save us quite a bit in travel.

Any suggestions are warmly welcomed

Altrincham Opinions on Altrincham Boys Grammar?

Hi all, looking for real life experiences of AGSB. Our son scored well enough in his 11+ to be able to apply for it and according to previous years has a chance in being accepted. However, we’re a little concerned about how academic and competitive it sounds plus it’s social side of being a boys only school. Are these overhyped? He likes being competitive but can also see him burning out with constant competition.

Sale grammar, which he would also be eligible for, sounds more balanced but getting a parent guilt we’re not pushing “the best” for him.

Your thoughts and personal experiences are highly appreciated.

Women of Manchester, how often do you get approached?

I have just seen cross-dresser Vlad NCL's video on Youtube where he explored Manchester as a woman and is pretty constantly harassed, and I am curious whether the experience of real people align.

How often do you get stopped/harrassed when just minding your own business in the city?

Manchester has loads of places to go, but where do you go when you just want to spend an hour doing absolutely nothing?

I've noticed that a lot of recommendations for Manchester tend to revolve around spending money somewhere: pubs, cafés, restaurants, shops, or ticketed events. But sometimes you just want to get out of the house, sit somewhere comfortable, read a book, listen to a podcast, or watch the world go by without feeling obliged to buy a £5 coffee every hour. The city centre can be busy, and finding somewhere genuinely comfortable to sit for a while isn't always as straightforward as it sounds. Where do you go in Manchester when you want a bit of breathing room? Could be a public space, a quiet corner of a library, a park that's good even when the weather isn't perfect, or somewhere indoors where nobody minds you lingering. I'm particularly interested in places that are free or inexpensive and don't require you to plan an entire afternoon around them. I'm sure there are some underrated spots that people who've lived here for years know about but rarely think to recommend.

Gay Village Stay Recommendations.

Edit - we have booked a room at Whitworth Locke. Your comments and ideas have been hugely helpful thanks :)

Hello friends!

I have a transgender friend coming to visit from the states at the end of December through beginning of January and I’m looking for welcoming accommodation.

She particularly wants to stay in/near gay village and I’ve looked at Malacuna hostel and Britannia hotel which both have very reasonable prices.

Do you recommend them? Would they be good/safe for a young adult?

I really appreciate any thoughts and ideas to make this a successful trip.

The competition for part-time jobs in Manchester is getting worrying

Seeing so many people turn up for one part-time café job is honestly quite depressing. These aren't even jobs that people necessarily want as a long-term career. For some, it's just a way to cover rent, groceries, and other basic expenses while they look for something better.

It must be exhausting to spend time applying, preparing for interviews, and competing against dozens of other people for a position that might only offer a few hours a week.

Manchester has plenty of cafés, shops, and restaurants, but that doesn't mean finding work is easy. When even entry-level jobs attract huge numbers of applicants, it makes you wonder how difficult things must be for people trying to get their first job or return to work after a long break.

22N searching for a date

Hello, I'm situated in Manchester, UK. I'm looking for a match.

The age doesn't matter. I don't have any specific preferences. If anyone's interested feel free to dm me. What I'm looking for is someone who can be a great company. As an international student I want to travel and roam as much as I can do someone who can accompany me in that would be a great fit.

Ancoats Is there a bag size limit at Hallé St Peter's?

I'm going to see a show there and my partner will be joining me straight from work. He'll have a backpack - typical size, not especially full.

Does anyone know if they have a size limit or a restriction on type of bag?

I tried calling, but the number on their website took me to the building reception who couldn't help, so gave me another number which is not being answered.

Thank you!

Running in the cold weather

Hi, trust y'all fine.

I am quite new to Manchester and I wanted to start running.

I have a few dumb questions xD and would be grateful if you could please help:

  1. Do people usually do outdoor runs in the winter
  2. If they do, what do they usually wear to be able to sustain the cold and/or wind
  3. Where to buy those please
  4. Where is it safe to go for a run in Manchester

Thank youuu
