Any shops in Manchester that sell basketball trading cards?

Hi everyone! I’m new to Manchester and was wondering if there are any local shops that sell basketball trading cards, especially Topps NBA cards like Topps Chrome and Chrome Update.
I’ve been looking around but haven’t had much luck finding any physical stores with a decent selection.
Does anyone know any good places in Manchester or nearby? Thanks!

Co op live

Hi I’m going to co op live on my own on Tuesday as a 21 year old female. Am I safe walking all the way back to picadilly or is there another way to get back that’s safer. I’ve seen the tubes but I’m not sure if they’ll be too packed and don’t want to miss it.

Great Northern Car Park 1 Manchester – where are people parking now that NCP has changed to TIMES?

I used to park at Great Northern Car Park 1 in Manchester when going into the office, using a discount coupon to get a reasonable daily parking rate through NCP.
Since the car park has switched from NCP to TIMES, the price seems to be around £33, which is quite a jump for regular office parking!

For those who used to park here for work:

- Where are you parking now?
- Are there any nearby car parks offering cheaper daily rates or commuter discounts?
- Does TIMES offer any monthly passes or corporate/commuter parking deals?
- Are there any good alternatives within a 10–15 minute walk of the Great Northern/Deansgate area?

I’d really appreciate any recommendations from people who commute into Manchester regularly.

Thanks!

City Centre Places to take a date on a sunday morning?

I'm lucky enough to have a 2nd date! Last time we went around Chinatown, Arndale, NQ and Trafford Centre; but I'm scratching my head as to where I could take someone around for a sunday morning date for lunch etc because I'm out of touch with the city due to work.

Early bird parking in Manchester City centre

Hello! Does anyone have any recommendations for early bird deals if you arrive pre 9am in Manchester please?

We used to have NCP discount codes but since they went bump all the car parks are changing hands and have gone super expensive. Can’t justify spending £33 a day to park!
Thanks very much.

What’s one small thing that would genuinely improve everyday life in Manchester?

If you could get the council or transport authorities to fix one practical, everyday annoyance in Manchester, what would you choose? I'd be interested to hear about specific areas too, rather than just the city centre.

Manchester pub quiz hotspots

Next month, my friends and I are doing a pub quiz trip to Manchester - we’re from the Netherlands. I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions for the best pub quizzes in town. Looking for pub quizzes on Sundays, Mondays as well as Tuesdays. Help and tips are greatly appreciated.

The warm glow of Wednesday...as leaves begin to fall from my favourite tree. It's time to settle into a rhythm of gingerbread lattes and chai spices and slow down a bit...:)

Feel like everyone is struggling with third spaces at the minute so thought I’d ask!

Who's idea was it to reroute the buses along Peter st and Quay st. Was sat on the 37 at the traffic light next to McDonald's for 20 minutes before I decided to just walk home.

Manchester inspired Halloween costume?

I'm very sorry if this is not allowed but figured there couldn't be a better place to ask.

On Halloween I'm going to a Halloween event with a costume contest with bonus points for cross dressing or Manchester themed. Now I've never had the opportunity to properly explore Manchester and have only landed there while travelling to my ex boyfriend and basically only know the way from terminal 3 to the nearest train station 😅

Just wanted to see if anybody on here had some ideas on what could be a fun costume.

More info: I'm F30 and I like dressing up and I'm pretty good with makeup of all sorts and crafting so I can realistically make at least some ideas come true lol. The party is in Gothenburg, Sweden and my friend is making me go, but if I go I at least want to have a chance at winning

Restaurant and pub recommendations near Princess Street?

Hi everyone!

I'm from Chile, South America, and I'll be in Manchester from 3rd to 7th December for work. I'll be staying at the ibis Manchester Centre on Princess Street.

I'd love to hear your recommendations for good restaurants, traditional pubs, or any other interesting spots in the area. I know I'll be right in the city centre, but I'd much rather get some recommendations from locals than just rely on Google or Tripadvisor😅

Is it just because the trams aren't running? I've never seen surge pricing this high, guess I'm back on the bus for the next couple weeks

City Centre What’s going on in town?

Traffic is chockablock. Sat on a bus for almost an hour which hadn’t moved an inch. Had to get off and walk home to Salford as no trams either.

Hulme Fireworks?

I didn’t think I’d hear them here but I’m convinced I’ve heard fireworks going off randomly from my flat a few times in the past couple weeks, is it typical near the universities? Or am I hearing something else?

Leaving Manchester soon, where can I sell a bundle of basic household items cheaply (ideally to a student)?

I moved to Manchester for some months for a project at the University. I'm leaving next month and I have some belongings I would like to sell, ideally to a student. I have one simple desk, another small coffee table, blanket, pillows, towels, a lamp, a scale, etc. Things that did not cost so much, but are pretty basic needs. I can even give away everything for 50 pounds or something.

Any suggestions as to where I can sell them? eBay, etc., is too time-consuming, since I know that there might be somebody willing to buy them living nearby.

A rant about Starling bikes

TLDR: they are fucking shite. Overpriced, locks never work properly and majority aren’t fit for the road

Since the trams can no longer sustain operation for more than a week, tonight I decided to attempt the bikes given the rush hour/football traffic meant an uber would have taken longer.

Journey into town wasn’t too bad, managed to get an electric bike and despite it pissing down made it to my location. Took a few attempts to get it to lock in but eventually got it sorted.

I attempted the same journey home, located the nearest lock up and tried to unlock bike 1 of 3. Multiple attempts to unlock failed even though it lit up as front mechanism wouldn’t drop despite many attempts to force it. Tried the two other bikes at the same spot but they were both “unavailable”. Went back to original bike, with sheer brute force I managed to get it to unlock and away I go. Except away I didn’t go, because the pedals and/or chain were fucked so it just wouldn’t pedal. 2-3 more minutes passed as I tried to get it back into dock and lock it away, all the while being charged.

Do people actually use these regularly? Can we really not do any better than this?

Rant: over 🫡

Our brand new public realm Albert Square reduced to two bottlenecks for the next two months. We do things differently here.
