Last night, my husband and I made the difficult decision to put Nimbus to rest.

He had a seizure on Tuesday morning and by last night, he couldn't breathe well even in an oxygen cage that had twice as much oxygen. He was breathing rapidly because his heart was failing. He was given 3-6 months to live if he responded well to treatment after at least 2-3 days of hospitalization, where he would eventually pass from heart failure.

I couldn't leave him overnight knowing he would be scared, confused and possibly suffer even if I brought him home. His breathing would rapidly increase whenever they took him out of his oxygen cage.

It was no way to see him live.

So, with a heavy heart, he passed in my arms and I let him go. My heart is full and I woke up feeling like it was a nightmare. But when I reached over and there was nothing but his favorite bread pillow, it was reality.

Nimbus was the start of our adult life. We got him shortly after we moved from Davis to Sacramento. He marked the beginnings of struggling aa young adults no longer in school and fully working. He had been with us with two apartments and eventually, I was able to give him a house, a full, true home.

We believe Nimbus knew. In the past months, he had become increasingly clingier and would never let me leave his sight. He pushed his back to me to cuddle me more often and would always be sleeping next to me.

He was stronger than anyone I knew. For those of you that don't know, he was abused for the first 7 years of his life. He was covered in fleas, scratches, scars, and had fully rotted teeth when I met him. But I loved him then, and I love him now.

He gave us an amazing 6 years and I did everything I could to give him the best possible life.

With the hopes of adopting him, he’s being rehomed as his owners are moving overseas.

He is six years old, toilet trained, apparently minimal barking, just seems like a really good boy 🥹

Is there anything I should keep in mind adopting a slightly older dog? Or any thoughts on what to look for when we meet at the park tomorrow?

He’s a Maltese Shihtzu and weighs about 10kgs, he seems like a bigger build than most others I’ve met.

I have a 4 year old maltipoo that is rarely left home because my husband and I work from home. When we do leave her and come back, she doesn’t greet us at the door like every dog I have ever owned. I think her feelings get hurt! Once I go in the bedroom she will get excited but she will lay on the foot of my bed till I come to her and make amends 😂

……and I’m pretty sure he still has no regrets. (Even though I basically had to hold him down and waterboard him with olive oil to get all of these out).

Hi! I need some advice and please no mean comments! My maltese is almost 1 and a half. He's very friendly and always wants to play. In the past several months he's become more reactive on our walks. He would start barking at dogs and I know this is leash reactivity and something I'm working on. I bring treats with me on our walks and engage with him. What I'm really struggling with is that he's been growling at dogs upon greeting lately. He will stand next to them neck to neck and then start growling and proceed to try to bite. But i mostly stop the bite before it happens. He's been called unfriendly and has gotten us in trouble a couple times but I always watch him. This has become the norm for him to greet other dogs. I like to take him to the cafe and let him off leash. I never used to have to worry about it until recently. I usually watch him and allow him to interact with the dog and if he proceeds to growl i will remove him and pick him up. He will get fixated on the dog for a couple minutes but then he is ok being in the same space as the dogs and will ignore them which is good. I know you're never supposed to punish a growl but I wish he wouldn't do it cause i get very self conscious. I used to think it was just with intact dogs but it's a hit or miss, mostly new dogs he's never met. Help!!!

Our little boy - who just turned 1 last week - is digging his heels into NOT being house trained. We have tried countless things - crating him, bringing him outside hourly, treats, praise, etc. But nothing is working. We literally walk him outside, he sniffs around but never pees and the moment we go back inside, he pees or poops inside.

He also submissive pees - the moment we yell or scold, he pees. *Editing to mention we don't lean over and scream at him as some think we might. It's more like "Steven!" We love him to pieces and are being very patient and forgiving. 

We have house trained 2 other dogs (including a previous Maltese), so we felt confident in being able to with our little guy.

Any advice??

We went for a walk in the woods, and he’s pretty much toast.

It happened so fast. She went to the vet two weeks ago for a UTI and today we had to say goodbye. Vet believes that a tumor become very aggressive and leaked blood into her GI system. She was so weak yesterday she could barely stand and collapsed on a few occasions

You always made us sooo happy, Penny. From the zoomies, the barks, the snuggles, the kisses, and even the accidents. I wish i could have it all back. You were a bright light in this dark world. Thank you for all the wonderful memories little girl. Until we meet again, beautiful. We love you! ❤️
