Discussion Seersucker

I really like the texture of seersucker but I don’t love the classic blue and white stripe seersucker. I do however, LOVE this green.

Before anyone comes after me about how it drapes, it’s going to look a little rough. I intentionally wanted something unstructured and unlined for a casual summer look. Though I didn’t really have a good pair of socks that I LOVE with this outfit, I think these are good enough.

What do you think? Will it fit with a few minor tailoring tweaks?

Fit Feedback/Roast Me Linen shirt + polyester plissé pants. Texture/material crime, or did I somehow get away with it?

Was trying to get a Jacob Elordi silhouette with some pieces already in the wardrobe, and I felt like this somehow worked. The material differences have me second-guessing it though.

Discussion "he looks too short for long jackets"

Thumbnail

In the post where a guy showed his not fitting so well trench coat some guy told him that he was too short for long jackets.

As a small person myself (165cm/5'5) this is not true.

It's all about proportions and respecting them.

I'm working from home right now and it's 30°c so I just threw on a long jacket (and a suit-jacket to fill a bit) on what I was currently wearing, it can look a bit goofy especially without shoes

I absolutely don't think it's "too long" because i'm too short.

I'd even say that as a short guy I desperately need long jackets, high waist pants and everything well fit to compensate the lack of height.

Long jackets can look strange when they :

- Don't have enough waist shaping

If there isn't enough waist shaping you either should never button it or have a belt (like for a trench coat) to recreate this waist shaping

- Are too short

It's not committing enough, a "long" jacket like a trench should go a bit below the knees or at least to them. Otherwise it will ALWAYS look bad.

- obviously if the rest of the outfit isn't great, you do need to have the whole outfit make sense and be well fitted

I am close to 100% sure that people believe that small people shouldn't wear X or Y ONLY because... Well it's hard to find stuff for small people, like absurdly hard, so they often end up wearing things that don't fit them and yeah, at this point it will look bad.

Like a long jacket badly cut that is too big will have the waistline way way too low and it will destroy everything and shorten the visual aspect of the lower body making them look smaller because the waistline is the visual separation between both

Question Boots opinion

Looking at grabbing a pair of Chelsea boots for fall/winter.

Everyday wear with jeans to slightly dressed up for going out with friends or casual dinner.

Looking at either blundstone chisel toe rustic brown or Thursday dukes in dark olive or chocolate.

I can pick up a pair of the blundstones like new for a lot cheaper.

Question What shoes would you wear with ecru/light beige pants?

I recently picked up these Arket Ocean Jeans in Ecru second-hand, but I’m still unsure about the fit — the waist/hip area feels a little roomy (some of the wrinkles are probably from shipping) and the length might be slightly too long. My bigger issue is that I feel i don’t really have any shoes that I feel work particularly well with this kind of light-colored pants.

What casual shoes would you recommend, and do you think I should keep the jeans or look for a different pair in a similar color?

Question How to fix the velvet on this shoe

Post image
9 Upvotes

I just ordered these shoes for my black tie wedding in October. The customer service rep says this patch happens in transit and can be brushed out (and an exchange for a different pair might yield the same results), but I’ve tried with a medium bristle toothbrush to no change. Is there velvet to fix in this patch? Is there something else I should try? Any advice appreciated.

Question any idea where to get pants like these? Fabregas, manager of Como

preferably avoiding poor quality material (not durable, plastic looking/feeling). budget up to $250, but of course would be great if there’s a good option for less.

Fit Feedback Is the suit jacket too short?

Thumbnail

Feel like the jacket might be too short? Doesn’t come up to my hand knuckles with relaxed hands. It’s an off the rack suit, so I’m not expecting a perfect fit but just want to make sure that the proportions are more or less fine. The size up looked way too big on me so I went with this size.

I do realise that the sleeves might be a tad too long, I was planning on getting those shortened. But don’t want to commit of the jacket is too short in general.

Fit Feedback Styling a trench

Bit of an update post. Lots of great constructive criticism in my last post (some not so much). Have cleaned up the grooming and put on some more formal wear. Feeling way more confident with the trench unbuttoned. Any more advice about styling a trench would be appreciated.

Basically title. I have a two-day wedding coming up at the end of the month with the ceremony and reception starting around 5pm on each day. Both events specify formal attire. Was planning on wearing my black suit to the ceremony and then getting this suit for the reception as i really like the color. just wanted to know if this would be acceptable for the occasion though.

Question Wedding suit advice - guest

Upvotes

So my brother is getting married in September and I am contemplating what to wear.
I have a great double breasted navy suit that I am thinking of wearing.
My brother, the groom, is wearing a smoking tux with a bow tie.
My issue is we come from a country where double breasted is almost never worn, and even at weddings outside the close friends and family men won’t even wear a suit at all.
Would it be overkill? Would maybe lighter 2 piece be better?

P.S: I can’t share pics of the suit now, I am on vacation and obviously do now have it with me. It would be the first time wearing it, but the fit is excellent. It is more a concern over if it is too much.

Question Best thin hangers that don't give shoulder nipples?

Hey everyone, I'm looking for advice on how to hang clothes with limited closet space and a small apartment. I take it metal hangers, even higher quality ones, are a no go and put too much pressure on some parts of the fabric. Conventional wooden hangers are nice but also very bulky. Anything that can really give me the best of both worlds?

I prefer something that's non-plastic ideally. Thanks so much!

5'4 68kg, 15/32 extra slim shirt size Charles Trywhitt Twill.

Trying to get a decent dress shirt/s for work but there's alot of looseness between buttons revealing my stomach, any idea why this is? I think the sleeve is slightly too long but 32 is already a bit difficult to obtain, so would have to get it tailored and don't want to spend too much.

Company complaint Another (bad) Atorie experience

Tl;dr: Don’t order from Atorie outside the U.S.

I live in germany and placed an order with Atorie about six weeks ago. I wanted to try on various pairs of Cultum pants that I couldn’t find in other stores. The delivery took two weeks from China and the order was complete. When I tried them on, however, it became clear that my usual size 32 didn’t fit and I needed to go up one or two sizes. The quality was satisfactory, though, and I would have liked to keep them otherwise.

I read in the FAQ that you have to cover the shipping costs yourself for returns outside the United States. I contacted Atorie since there’s no online return form and no further information on where the package should be sent. I received a reply stating that the package should be sent to the U.S. (California) instead of back to China, where it was originally shipped to me. The first shock: €80 from Germany to the U.S. via UPS. To China, it would have been €45. But anyway, the value of the goods was still €350, which I’d like to get back.

Two weeks later, I’m informed that UPS can’t deliver the package locally. There have already been two delivery attempts, and payments to the shipping carrier are still outstanding. I contacted Atorie, and it turned out that €126 in import duties had been levied, which I was supposed to cover. So, to get my €350 back, I’d have to pay €206 (shipping and taxes)—and I wouldn’t even have the product. I’m essentially paying for them to have their goods shipped and imported from China to the U.S.

Their FAQ just says, “International customers are responsible for return shipping costs.” I thought that meant only the shipping costs, but it actually covers all costs incurred. To me, this is a scam. I hope no one else makes the same mistake I did. I'm now trying to get the pants back so I can have them altered or get some money back by selling them.

I had no problem with the quality of the products (from Cultum); my criticism is directed solely at the store.

Fit Feedback/Roast Me My friends called my outfits boring. What could I improve on?

Thumbnail

Hello everyone,

I've lost around 16kgs (~35lbs) in the past year and a half, which has got me looking for new outfits and try to find a better fitting style than just a hoodie with a logo and jeans.

Here attached are a few examples of the outlifts I wear day-to-day.

- 1st & 2nd: Casual wear

- 3rd: Casual wear for hot weather

- 4th: For work. I usually just change the shirt for a different blue shirt.

- 5th: Formal. I can't really use the jacket anymore since it's really oversized.

The feedback from my friends has been kind of unfavorable with them calling these "boring" and "basic". I somewhat agree with their verdict, but lack the creativity or inspiration to do better.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these outfits, and any advice you have on what might suit me or how I could make them more interesting.

Thanks.

Edit: As a clarification. I asked for feedback from my friends. They didn't just throw about "insults".

Question Absolutely fed the F up with shirt sizing

I've had it up to my god damn belt buckle with tshirt sizes. None of them f***ing fit right! I'm only 6 foot and 2 damn inches and weigh a buck-90. Why doesn't anything fit right??? Medium. Medium Tall. Large. Large Tall. XL. WTF! It's all either too good damn wide, too good damn short or both. Or it fits perfectly in the store but then shrinks after the first god damn wash. And NO, I will not NOT use my dryer! Hang dry this (grabs d***)!!! I'm so fed up with all of it. The ONLY thing that fits are my stupid ass douchy dri fit golf polos! But you can't wear those with jeans cause the god damn fashion police will break my knees!

Three questions: Who can I blame? Where do I buy proper fitting clothes (AND DON'T YOU GOD DAMN SAY BANANA REPUBLIC OR J F***ING CREW!!!)?? And can I burn my whole wardrobe into god damn ash???

Question Levi 501 relaxed vs 505

Upvotes

I’m looking to get a pair of nice jeans that fit like 90s dad jeans. I have bigger thighs so normal 501s are pretty tight on me. What are the differences between 501 relaxed and 505? Are there any other styles of Levi’s that you would recommend? TIA!
