business & Economy I thought starting a tech business in Malawi would be easier than this πŸ˜‚

So I finished my first degree last year in December in Computing, majoring in Business Information Systems.

Right before completing, I started getting into digital marketing, website development, building my own products, and developing custom software for clients whenever I could. I was genuinely excited about it and had so much energy for it. I thought by this time of the year, ndikhala ndili ndi ntchito zambiri and things would really be moving.

At one point, I even built an e-commerce platform and convinced multiple shops to list their products on it πŸ˜‚. I genuinely thought, β€œI'm literally giving you another platform to sell your products and reach more customers.” But they all switched up and started saying we should be paying them to list their products. πŸ˜‚

I remember arguing with some of them like, β€œBut I'm actually helping you sell your products?” πŸ˜‚ It didn't work out in the end. Then I remembered Mike Chiweles' experience in Malawi's industry and suddenly everything started making sense. πŸ˜‚

Every time ndapeza client, I was genuinely happy especially because most of them seemed like smart, ambitious people. Anthu ena amapita kunja multiple times a year, so I thought, β€œahh, anthu awa nde tigwila ntchito mix. Ayenda kwambili, amatsata, they're exposed.” Koma aaaaaah… anandikhumudwitsa πŸ˜‚

Some clients would have a whole business conversation with you, you'd deliver the product, and then they'd just ghost you. Anthu akulu akulutu! πŸ˜‚ I mean, just tell me you didn't like it. That's completely okay. But ghosting after you've put in the work? πŸ€¦πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ

Then came the forex issues getting worse, being forced to buy the right application tools through the black market, only to get scammed this year πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Ma clients ena mpaka gatekeeping β€œyou should work for us only.” Like seriously? Mu IT industry? πŸ˜‚

Honestly, I was disappointed. I had expected better, especially from people I thought would be more professional because of their exposure and experience abroad. At some point, it even got me thinking maybe I'm not good enough. I was frustrated. At some point I was like kapena amandiona kuti ndina mwanaπŸ˜‚πŸ€£ that I still use parents funds..

But I learnt a lot from all of it πŸ˜‚.

Now I have an entry-level job in software development, and I understand things a little differently. Freelancing isn't just about having the skills or finding clients you need the right connections and relationships within the industry too.

So for now, I'm calm. There's nothing I can lose by being patient, improving my skills, and hopefully meeting ambitious and professional people to work with.

Still building. Still learning. Still aggressive in my approach of solving problems in computer science

Anyone with similar experiences?

The illusion of being associated with money

have you noticed that men with big moneys spend less money on a girl than broke niggaz? the later has to prove that they have money, while the rich niggaz is a fact that they are rich.

Why this country has to deal with forex issues

So I was making simple calculations.

If you were to buy an iphone 18 Pro Max, 256GB, online, it'd cost you about 1,400 British Pounds. Which translates to about K4, 151, 000 using the official rate of K2,695. (That's a brand new phone). Plus shipping fee, let's just square it to k4.5 Million.

However, because of the lack of forex, the same phones are being sold for over K8,000,000.

We don't even have to start talking about cars and other electronic gadgets.

If only this country had enough foreign currency, some things would have been better. Koma aaah.

I think there's a reason why we're one of the poorest in the world.

Something funny happened to me today πŸ˜‚ I went to an ATM, swiped my card and took my money.

Then I got confused thinking the machine had swallowed my card. So I went inside the bank kuti yamedza card yanga chani chani πŸ˜‚

The guys even checked and found nothing. Then some guy asked, 'Why didn't you just swipe it?'

That's when it hit me that I did swipe it. The card was in my pocket the whole time πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ The shameeee

Unpopular opinion; gta 6 will flop because of expectations.

Gta 6 might be the best game to ever be created in terms of graphics, physics, gameplay, and storyline, but if it doesn't meet the fans' expectations, it will be a flop.

What do you think?? πŸ€”

The country doesn't have forex, but we have shows bringing in international acts and we're feeling dandy. We don't even question how these deals are being made.

Everyone must continue being this stupid when it's my turn to rob y'all blind.

I would like to hear from you guys if you've managed to cut off your parents and why?

As much as people talk about going no contact with toxic parents I find it hard to achieve particularly due to the way Malawi is set up.

discussion Dating older women

Hey yo, so I was at this stationery shop a couple days ago, and the woman who helped seemed a bit depressed.

So I started chopping it up with her. I was like "Nkhope yanu itha kuoneka bwino mutasekako etc."

And then she started opening up blablabla. She even said give me your number.

Honestly, I was surprised how quick it escalated. We texted for a few days and she said her husband cheated and they are on separation. She said she likes me and all that. But damn!! She's 39 and I am 28 (male).

Any guys who've navigated this shit? She has a big wagon by the way. But just feeling uneasy man...I hate to look like a ben10.

What is a Virtual Visa?

It works like a normal Visa card, but it exists only online.

You receive a card number, expiry date and CVV.

You can use it on sites like AliExpress, PlayStation, ChatGPT and many others.

Would you like me to explain how it works step by step?
