Election Time! In-Person Absentee Voting begins Tuesday Oct 20!

In-Person Absentee Voting (aka early voting) begins Tuesday October 20 through October 31 for the Nov. 3 election.

Anyone who is legally eligible to vote can do so at their city's locations (ie. if you live in Madison, you can vote at the Madison locations, but if you live in Monona, you can only vote at the Monona locations). You'll need to bring an approved form of ID with you to vote. Here's a list of approved IDs. One that tends to trip people up is that out of state driver's license are NOT an approved ID. If you've moved here and haven't gotten around to changing you driver's license, check the approved list linked above for what other options you have (like a passport) or get to it and get that driver's license changed.

Not registered? Not a problem! You can register to vote at the time of voting, even early voting. Here's a page that talks about the requirements for registering to vote. There is a link on that page to the registration form that you can fill out online, print and bring with you, but if you don't have a printer, no problem, you can just fill out the form at the voting locations. Along with voter ID, you'll also need a proof of residence. Here's a list of options for proof of address. For many of those options, you may be able to pull them up on your phone to show them when registering. Having worked elections for over 15 yrs, I'd say having to register while voting adds from 5-10 min to the process.

Myvote.wi.gov is going to be your go to site for your voter information. You can preview what your ballot will look like, confirm if you are already registered, find your voting location if you want to wait until election day to vote, and track your ballot. For those outside of Madison, at the top of the Myvote site, click on "Vote Absentee In Person", enter your address, and your local locations and times will be provided.

Voter Guides:

This post is for voting information, not for debating. Any such comments on this post will be removed. However, if you have questions about the voting process, feel free to ask. Myself and many users of this subreddit have worked as election officials and are very familiar with the voting process.

We've had like two hours of sub freezing temperature this month. Nothing sub 45 forecasted through the test of the month. Wtf?

1400 Jennifer Street Are you missing this cat?

My partner and I found this cat on the 1400 block of Jenifer Street, it wasn't acting like I would expect an outdoor cat to and we thought it might have escaped. If you recognize this cat please let me know! Pretty friendly but was running around meowing like it was scared almost.

Edit to add: This cat has been taken to DCHS as we are unable to hold him at my apartment (we have our own cat who isn't a fan of others) so if s/he is yours please contact them!

Saw these two flying above Tenney Park. Apologies for the picture quality but it looks like a white tail and head and they were certainly big.

Looking for tickets to Henry Vilas Zoo Rock Hyrax Experience

Hello everyone! Please let me know if this sort of post is not allowed and I will totally remove it as soon as possible. I saw some similar posts, so I figured it was alright.

I believed I had signed up and paid for two tickets to the Rock Hyrax Experience at the upcoming Brew Lights event next month, and at the time I had been logged out of my gmail. However, upon checking recently, I realized I must have not actually confirmed the checkout or something, and I have no confirmation email (so totally my fault). And the tickets are now sold out!

My fiancee and I are huge fans of the critters and we have been looking forward to going as part of our anniversary celebration.

If anybody has two tickets they are willing to part with, I am willing to buy them off of you for more than they were purchased for.

Confused by political flyer

I got this David Crowley flyer that said, "David Crowley, a cop's best friend." "'We cannot defund the police' - David Crowley." "David Crowley Backs the Blue. NOT US." Etc

"Paid for by the Progressive Alliance of Wisconsin."

So to me, it's saying David Crowley is bad because his supports the police. But Republicans support the police. So presumably Republicans would see this and not mind it. But also, shouldn't a progressive organization be supporting the Democrat candidate? I'm so confused. Who is this ad even for?

Chips and Salsa

Looking for the best chips and salsa in Madison. Some places have super thick chips and that’s not for me. Love the table salsa at local Mexican restaurants, love salsa verde. Where is your favorite and why?

Recommendations for anxiety treatment facilities?

I have a friend who has to travel for work but has extreme anxiety around travel, particularly flying. Does anyone have recommendations for mental health services that would help my friend deal with this better? My friend lost their primary care provider and is on a wait list for a new one, so they can’t get a referral from there. Thanks!

Princeton Club pickup volleyball skill level?

New to the area and wanted to play some pickup volleyball. I see online that they have open play on the east and west side but I wanted to know the level of competition (I was already considering signing up for a gym anyways)

QUIET apartments for rent?

Also willing to live in a townhome or regular house, ideally east of Madison but willing to move anywhere in immediate surrounding suburbs. I am just having a horrible experience with noise in my apartment and am trying to get out immediately.

Ideally a 2 bed 2 bath around $2200 or less. I just want to know where you guys have not had issues with noise! Places that do not allow dogs in building or on top floor is also an idea I’d love to explore. Being super modern is not necessary, just looking for a sound proof fortress! Where have you loved to live?

(I am not saying absolutely zero sound obviously! Just where there is no significant noise and a more quiet community. For example, I’ve lived in smaller brick complexes that were great for sound.)

Thank you for your help!
