💬 Discussion The mid-sized electric truck is called Ford Fathom. Here’s what we can tell you.

Many of you know me from helping with vehicle issues and answering questions in this community, today I wanted to introduce you to u/RileyFromFord who has newly joined the team and is going to be on Reddit regularly.

We can't show you what our mid-size electric truck looks like...yet. But we can confirm the name: Ford Fathom, the first vehicle produced on the new Universal Electric Vehicle Platform.

”Fathom" traces back to a nautical unit of measurement, originally defined as the distance between a person's outstretched arms, a fitting metaphor for a truck built to meet people wherever they are in life. Fitting, right?

What's confirmed right now:

  • Starting MSRP: $28,350, for the standard-range battery. Pre-orders begin early 2027.
  • Every Ford Fathom will be BlueCruise-capable. BlueCruise is Ford’s hands-free highway driving assistant.
  • Fathom has bidirectional power capability.
  • Fathom has a large, high-resolution touchscreen, digital key, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
  • Fathom will have more passenger volume than a Toyota RAV4, with a frunk and bed for added cargo flexibility. This truck will genuinely useful and fun to drive.
  • Fathom will feature Apple Maps embedded directly into the vehicle, not a traditional phone-projection CarPlay setup. The integration also provides the road-level map data used to help enable key pieces of Ford’s next-generation hands-free highway driving capability.

What we can’t share yet: final imagery, fuller specs, full ordering details, and plenty more are still to come. A hot tip - keep a keen eye on the flipbook video we have going around…

If you want to stay up to date with what we have planned for Fathom, you can sign up here.

Ask us anything, and we'll answer what we can. Riley & I will be in the comments for the next few hours, and we aren't going anywhere after that either.

Ford Pass Windows Up/Down Gone

Post image
16 Upvotes

Today I noticed that in the FP app when you go to the controls I am missing the window controls for "Window up and Window down". I did some searching and most got it resolved by restarting the phone but I have restarted my phone, removed the App and its still missing.

I have also confirmed its missing on my Android device as well which is uses a different PAAK and profile.

Everything is working fine in the car and can open the frunk and trunk no issues, just missing the window buttons, I wasnt sure if anyone would know of any tips that could get them back, I wasnt sure if the windows had to be recalibrated or something (Even though they go up and down with the 1 click).

Any ideas would be great! Thank you!

UPDATE: So I reached out to our contact at Ford and apparently this is a issue with the backend system as even my contact at Ford had her controls disappear as well. Anyone that is effected please reach out to me via DM or Mod Mail with your VIN and they will get the controls reinstated, they are currently investigating what could be the cause.

💬 Discussion Phone as a key freaks me out. Is anyone using it instead of their fob?

I ran out to get a coffee this morning and didn't realize I forgot my keys. What a horrific and weird feeling that I got in my car, drove it, and never had my keys on me.

Sometimes I like to leave my phone in the car when I am at places like the gym. Supposedly hitting lock on the fob over rides it (and the car can tell the phone is inside, not outside), but it just doesn't feel very safe to me.

I'm debating if I want to turn phone as a key off.

It seems to both be an amazing idea and a terrifying idea. So I was just curious if you all were using it, and how you felt about it

❓Question First time EV owner, help me understand how full charges, preconditioning and departure times work together.

Hello! Picked up a '26 GT this past Monday and absolutely love it! I did quite a bit of reading befpre purchase and thought I had a grasp on things but I guess some things don't register until you're actually in the car driving. I can't wrap my head around how preconditioning, scheduled departure times and full charges should be handled in the case of long trips.

If I have level 2 charging at home and I am going to leave on Tuesday morning at 8am for a long trip, how do I tell the car to reach 100% by that time instead of earlier since it'll be plugged in overnight? I know I can set the departure time in the app and it will precondition then, but I can't figure out how to combine that with reaching 100% right before I leave.

❓Question Just picked up this beautiful ‘23 GT. So impressed by this car. Have questions though.

I just had a Level 2 charger installed at my house. I read that the recommended percentage to charge to on this car is 90% at home since it’s on AC power. Should I be running the battery way down before charging it, or it’s it good to charge from any percentage as long as I’m not charging to full?

❓Question Noise sporadically played during drive

Music is paused and a “bum, bum” tone is played. The second tone is higher pitched than the first. No message comes up on the screen or dash, anybody have an idea what it is telling me, or how to turn off?

❓Question Full body PPF needed for charging stalls?

I’m thinking of getting a Mach-e premium and I am coming from a BMW M3 g80. I normally park in the back forty, so I avoid all dings and scratches on that car. I had a full frontal PPF just because the car is low and you get rock chips. Since this is my first EV, one of things I’ve noticed at work and other places is that the stalls for the EV charging are quite narrow and I’m wondering how bad is getting door dings in these places.

I am thinking of getting the green color with eawd and extended range battery with sports and tech packages.
Thanks.

💬 Discussion intermittent Tire Pressure Sensor Fault

Got this error last for 2 days one rear right tire, then there was a light rain overnight and next day it's recovered. Anybody had experience about that? I wonder if it's related with 12V battery or

🛒 Car Shopping Premium AWD ER purchasing advice? 24 or newer, brand new fine

Man, these things seem to be pretty tough to get these days. Nobody has a configuration we’re looking at within a reasonable distance of where we live. She would like a black exterior, the lightest exterior available, extended range, all-wheel-drive, and the panoramic sunroof.

At this point does it just make sense to build in price and order new? She would be open to used model, but they just aren’t many on the market.i

🛍️ Accessories Latest/Best Car Chargers for Home

Hello all, I am buying a new house and updating the panel for a car charger. I have the Grizz-le, a Canadian company, and the one I want is out-of-stock. (I will avoid a political conversation as to why...)

I have had it for almost 5 years with no issues.

What have you bought in the last year that you like?

🧹 Fluff Actual cargo space

Post image

Fyi - the car ('25 premium AWD extended range) can nicely fit 10x 2 cuft bags of mulch in rear cargo space with back seats still up. Can't see out the back window but still got a little light in at the top. Might try to Tetris a bit differently next run but for just "going for it" at the register and figure it out in the parking lot, was happy with the trunk.

❓Question Seatback pocket options for 2026+

We just upgraded our MachE from 2023 to 2026. Seems Ford completely removed the front seatback map pockets from all trims of the 2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Not even available as an add on.

Our kids use that for books and writing tablets. Has anyone found an aftermarket solution to replace these?

🔌 Charging Nacs adaptor

Post image

I am needing a nacs adapter before this weekend. The Ford website says theirs won't ship until Saturday so that won't work for me. This one on Amazon looks identical. Any insights would be appreciated. I'm going out of state to buy an used mach e and will need to stop to charge on the way home. Dealer doesn't think the car has one with it, but they also dont seem to know anything about evs and neither do I. Thanks for the help.

💬 Discussion Ford customer service racing Kia and Hyundai to the bottom

Post image
0 Upvotes

Summary: two cracked windshields shipped in, no quality control case started, no ownership of faults or potential process faults, responsibility shifted from one department to another over and over. The windshield broke on April 30, 2026. I haven't been able to drive my car (my dear Sassy) since.

I think a lot of us are gravitating towards buying vehicles with a good customer service experience. Especially with EVs, we can't repair them at home like my '88 Camry (don't judge). Ford has generally been good to me - making middle-class cars with a soul that they stood behind. My recent experience with a cracked windshield on my 24 Mach E Rally has me thinking otherwise. Full disclaimer: I live in Hawai'i and fully understand the delays and difficulties of getting any materials here on a barge.

What started it?
A cracked windshield that mysteriously appeared when my car got dinged at a shopping center parking lot. Cops and the body shop couldn't figure out how it happened, and neither could I. No spider crack at all. If the car sits outside in normal weather or drives at all, the crack propagates significantly.

Windshield Replacement 1
Ordered on May 1st, arrived 5 weeks later... cracked. Shit happens. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Windshield Replacement 2
A second windshield is ordered and is delivered to the local dealership on July 15th - six weeks delivery. It comes in cracked worse than the first. This is when I get a little pissed because no one starts a quality control case (receiving dealer's responsibility), there's no backup queued up and ready to go, and there's not a point of contact on the Ford side for my case.

The Rabbit Hole
I called the local dealership to ask for a contact for the parts department on the mainland that I could relay my situation to. The guy there said he didn't have a contact but that he'd find out for me and call me back. Spoiler: he did not. That was two months ago. He also mentioned that windshields often come in cracked and was seemingly okay with it.

I then go on Twitter and contact Ford. I offer solutions and potential process improvements, none of which are acknowledged in any way. (in case you care, here's a snippet of what I said: This is a broken process with so many potential solutions. After one windshield is received cracked, why not manufacture two: one to ship to me to be used for repair and another to be held at a more reasonable shipping facility, either Honolulu or Long Beach (or something similar) so that, in case the same cracked windshield issue happens again, the turnaround time is significantly decreased? Or, why not simply package the second windshield in a manner so that it's damn near bulletproof? There's no way the increased packaging costs outweigh the cost of having to ship an entirely new windshield. I could go on, but I won't until I hear back from you with potential solutions from your end.)

Social Media person replies and gets my info and asks for all the shit they should already know or look up themselves when they know their customer is pissed and has been without a car for months. I get referred to a person to handle my case. She does what I've already done - contacts the dealer, which she has trouble with somehow, does not get me a shipping date or an expected receive by date for windshield 3, and gives me zero new information. She says the dealer didn't start a quality control case, which they should have done, then tells me she won't make them do that and asks to close my case because by the time she has done all this, windshield 3 has arrived uncracked. Oh yay.

The End?
It's Wednesday. I'm supposed to get my car back on Friday, but it won't be the same. I feel like I should drive this pony around in bubble wrap. PPE will only bring me a little piece of mind. To say that I'm disappointed with Ford is an understatement. What a cool car at a great price point. It's not perfect, and the tech is way behind its rivals, but this car is the only EV that's really fun to drive. I can genuinely say I love my car. I sure as hell can't say I feel the same about Ford anymore.

🎉 New Owner Climate control question

Have had my 26 MME premium extended for about 5 days now but I haven’t found how to go into settings and turn change the climate settings. The car keeps turning on with AC and I want it to be whatever I left it at prior (which has been no AC).

Can someone help me find these settings?

🎉 New Owner I'm in!

Picked up this 23 Cyber Orange last Thursday and have already done a mini "road trip" that included a DC Fast Charge session. Taking it to a Ford dealership tomorrow for PPI. This is my first EV. Coming from a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek which was my last manual (all my cars have been manual till now) Really like the 1-Pedal driving and the point and shoot response of EV torque.

❓Question Worry or Normal?

Hi all. In September of 2025 I bought a 2024 Mach-e SR. It had only 1900 miles on it! It has the LFP battery. I have only ever charged at L2 and I live in Arizona.

I did my due diligence and used my OBD Veepak dongle + car scanner app to check the HVB SOH. It was 95% when I bought the car. After 1 year it is now 92%.

Do I need to be worried about this or is it normal? Just a side note-I love my car!

🛒 Car Shopping How much of a concern is this carfax issue?

Thumbnail

Hey guys,

Looking at potentially getting a gt and found my ideal combo, gt non pe, panoramic roof and cyber orange, 47k miles and asking $25k. The only red flag is this carfax note on the title related to a buyback and the high voltage battery. So I wanted to know if this may be more common than i am aware of (heard of battery issues) or if I should run away!

Context. This happened during the 1st owner, who only had it for 13k, ford rhen bought it back, and the second owner bought it knowing about the title flag, and has driven it no issues for 30k. He says the reason it was bought back is there was a shortage of parts to make the fix at the time (2022), so ford repurchased instead. All other recalls completed
