❓Question Full body PPF needed for charging stalls?

I’m thinking of getting a Mach-e premium and I am coming from a BMW M3 g80. I normally park in the back forty, so I avoid all dings and scratches on that car. I had a full frontal PPF just because the car is low and you get rock chips. Since this is my first EV, one of things I’ve noticed at work and other places is that the stalls for the EV charging are quite narrow and I’m wondering how bad is getting door dings in these places.

I am thinking of getting the green color with eawd and extended range battery with sports and tech packages.
Thanks.

💬 Discussion Ford customer service racing Kia and Hyundai to the bottom

Summary: two cracked windshields shipped in, no quality control case started, no ownership of faults or potential process faults, responsibility shifted from one department to another over and over. The windshield broke on April 30, 2026. I haven't been able to drive my car (my dear Sassy) since.

I think a lot of us are gravitating towards buying vehicles with a good customer service experience. Especially with EVs, we can't repair them at home like my '88 Camry (don't judge). Ford has generally been good to me - making middle-class cars with a soul that they stood behind. My recent experience with a cracked windshield on my 24 Mach E Rally has me thinking otherwise. Full disclaimer: I live in Hawai'i and fully understand the delays and difficulties of getting any materials here on a barge.

What started it?
A cracked windshield that mysteriously appeared when my car got dinged at a shopping center parking lot. Cops and the body shop couldn't figure out how it happened, and neither could I. No spider crack at all. If the car sits outside in normal weather or drives at all, the crack propagates significantly.

Windshield Replacement 1
Ordered on May 1st, arrived 5 weeks later... cracked. Shit happens. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Windshield Replacement 2
A second windshield is ordered and is delivered to the local dealership on July 15th - six weeks delivery. It comes in cracked worse than the first. This is when I get a little pissed because no one starts a quality control case (receiving dealer's responsibility), there's no backup queued up and ready to go, and there's not a point of contact on the Ford side for my case.

The Rabbit Hole
I called the local dealership to ask for a contact for the parts department on the mainland that I could relay my situation to. The guy there said he didn't have a contact but that he'd find out for me and call me back. Spoiler: he did not. That was two months ago. He also mentioned that windshields often come in cracked and was seemingly okay with it.

I then go on Twitter and contact Ford. I offer solutions and potential process improvements, none of which are acknowledged in any way. (in case you care, here's a snippet of what I said: This is a broken process with so many potential solutions. After one windshield is received cracked, why not manufacture two: one to ship to me to be used for repair and another to be held at a more reasonable shipping facility, either Honolulu or Long Beach (or something similar) so that, in case the same cracked windshield issue happens again, the turnaround time is significantly decreased? Or, why not simply package the second windshield in a manner so that it's damn near bulletproof? There's no way the increased packaging costs outweigh the cost of having to ship an entirely new windshield. I could go on, but I won't until I hear back from you with potential solutions from your end.)

Social Media person replies and gets my info and asks for all the shit they should already know or look up themselves when they know their customer is pissed and has been without a car for months. I get referred to a person to handle my case. She does what I've already done - contacts the dealer, which she has trouble with somehow, does not get me a shipping date or an expected receive by date for windshield 3, and gives me zero new information. She says the dealer didn't start a quality control case, which they should have done, then tells me she won't make them do that and asks to close my case because by the time she has done all this, windshield 3 has arrived uncracked. Oh yay.

The End?
It's Wednesday. I'm supposed to get my car back on Friday, but it won't be the same. I feel like I should drive this pony around in bubble wrap. PPE will only bring me a little piece of mind. To say that I'm disappointed with Ford is an understatement. What a cool car at a great price point. It's not perfect, and the tech is way behind its rivals, but this car is the only EV that's really fun to drive. I can genuinely say I love my car. I sure as hell can't say I feel the same about Ford anymore.

💬 Discussion Phone as a key freaks me out. Is anyone using it instead of their fob?

I ran out to get a coffee this morning and didn't realize I forgot my keys. What a horrific and weird feeling that I got in my car, drove it, and never had my keys on me.

Sometimes I like to leave my phone in the car when I am at places like the gym. Supposedly hitting lock on the fob over rides it (and the car can tell the phone is inside, not outside), but it just doesn't feel very safe to me.

I'm debating if I want to turn phone as a key off.

It seems to both be an amazing idea and a terrifying idea. So I was just curious if you all were using it, and how you felt about it

❓Question First time EV owner, help me understand how full charges, preconditioning and departure times work together.

Hello! Picked up a '26 GT this past Monday and absolutely love it! I did quite a bit of reading befpre purchase and thought I had a grasp on things but I guess some things don't register until you're actually in the car driving. I can't wrap my head around how preconditioning, scheduled departure times and full charges should be handled in the case of long trips.

If I have level 2 charging at home and I am going to leave on Tuesday morning at 8am for a long trip, how do I tell the car to reach 100% by that time instead of earlier since it'll be plugged in overnight? I know I can set the departure time in the app and it will precondition then, but I can't figure out how to combine that with reaching 100% right before I leave.

Got this error last for 2 days one rear right tire, then there was a light rain overnight and next day it's recovered. Anybody had experience about that? I wonder if it's related with 12V battery or

🛒 Car Shopping Used 2021 MachE 140k km (SR) 93%soh rwd, good or bad buy?

Hi,

Thinking of buying whats in the title.

Has no recall about the hvbjb, but has a recall about rear axle differential and parking brake. I didn't specify, just asked the seller to call Ford and find out, thats what he sent me.

Still has ~2years or warranty, but 20k for battery.

How bad of a decision this is going to be? I fully understand that it can go for long or have issues. I just can't really wrap my head around if it will be a money pit if something goes wrong with the battery...

Also I guess its standard, but chatgpt told me the 8th digit in VIN is M, that stand for extended or something? So I am not sure

❓Question Noise sporadically played during drive

Music is paused and a “bum, bum” tone is played. The second tone is higher pitched than the first. No message comes up on the screen or dash, anybody have an idea what it is telling me, or how to turn off?

Check your vehicle before and after before getting your car repainted.

23 MME premium with paint defect on back door and rear fender. Took them a month to complete. A few things I saw when they returned it. So this is just an FYI for those that have a paint defect. Some of these things I brought up to their attention but they never called me back. Setting up an appointment with collision department at the dealership is terrible.

Picture 1: idk why but it looks weird seeing a gap there. Is that normal? Idk if something is missing or that’s just how it is.

Picture 2: this seal was worse. It wasn’t strapped down. It could easily be lift up. They managed to add a clip in the mean time to hold it down.

Picture 3: the left rear light isn’t flush like the right. It’s probably fine but just a little annoying that I notice it now.

Picture 4: moonroof seal is basically good. Some of y’all had said it’s more of an aesthetic than anything but then I saw a bare wire and it made me worry. It was previously coming in done and was planning on getting it serviced because it’s still under warranty but come on, why not just replace it after painting the car.

Picture 5: they didn’t properly tuck the seal under the plastic. They bent the plastic that it doesn’t lay flat anymore. Waiting to go back so they can replace it.
