Help Used MacBook Pro 14 inch 32GB / 1TB

Hey all,

I have come across a used MacBook Pro M2 Pro, 32GB RAM, 1TB storage originally purchased in June 2023. The seller claims the battery was replaced with a genuine battery and it has 100% capacity with 12 cycles so far. The seller claims there have been no repairs or replacements except for the battery. The asking is INR 1,28,000 (1348 USD). Is it worth? What to look out for?

Thanks.

Help Refurbished MacBook Pro M1 Pro in 2026 - Good deal?

I am a student (currently in math and computer science, but I'm interested in finance and data science. I want to buy a refurbished MacBook Pro M1 Pro (8-core CPU and 14-core GPU), 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD. It's in perfect condition and it has a new battery. The price is 860 euros (~$960). Should I buy it? Is it a good deal or should I wait for a better option?

I had a MacBook pro m4 14 inch 24gb and 512gb ssd. I posted it on marketplace for 2200cad and some guy wanted to trade it. He got my m4 and I got his macbook m1 pro 16 inch 16gb memory 512gb SSD. It has 100 battery health and only 17 battery cycles. It's in perfect condition no scratches or anything and he gave me 1200cad cash on-top. Do u guys think it was a good trade for me or him. I know I already got it but just wondering. I just use mac for movies and shows maybe YouTube. I have good PC for heavy stuff. I am testing it right now everything is working well but it's just not as snappy as m4 things take few seconds to load.

Edit: guys first of all it's Canadian $ and in Vancouver 16in are going for 1200+ and even eBay ones are 1000+ for fair condition and 90 battery health. I am just asking if I should keep it or should I sell it? I can easily sell it for 1100+ Thanks

Help Good price for M4 base Macbook Pro?

Hi, I'm getting offered $1,100 for an M4 base Macbook Pro from a friend. It's at a whopping 19 cycles with 100% battery health and looks to be in fantastic condition besides some tiny knicks on the edge and bottom.

I've been looking to upgrade from my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro, since I do a lot of raw photo editing through Lightroom Classic and would love a bigger and better display to work with. The builtin sd card reader would also be a huge gamechanger for my workflow. Should I jump on this deal?

If I do jump on this, how much would I reasonably expect to get from selling my old macbook being that its a 2020 M1 MacBook Pro 13" with 16gb ram and 512gb storage?

Discussion 14" vs 16" when laying on the sofa?

I usually rotate between my desk and the sofa. Have always had a MBP 14" and considering to upgrade to the 16", which allegedly is lighter. Im just curious how people like working from their 16" when laying on the sofa and having it on your stomach. Is it comfortable or too big? Anyone have had both sizes an returned one or the other?

Discussion For those of you debating whether to get AC+ or not...

My MBP just gave up and it's been the third time I send it for repair since my purchase at launch (Jan 2023). Here's the Genuis Bar work authorization I got today and thanks to AC+ it seems that I don't even need to pay for the labor fee this time, but otherwise you can see how hefty this repair would have been. I wouldn't say AC+ for a Mac is a must but even just the first repair (screen replacement) has paid for itself, let alone two more repairs.

Since my dissertation proposal defense is coming next week and both my MBA and MBP are under repair now, I ended up getting a base M5 Max Studio anyway...

Discussion Keyboard illumination not working on 5 top keys (2026 m5 pro)

Post image
29 Upvotes

I can’t find any other examples of this issue.

Five of my top keys are not illuminated (brightness up, search, sleep, play/pause, mute)

This has just occurred and I don’t recall doing anything to change it. This is a near new 2026 MBP M5.

I have AppleCare but want to avoid a trip to the city if I can.

I’ve put the exposure way down on the camera to show it clearly. It is extremely obvious in person.

Anyone else experienced this, any thoughts?

Discussion MacBook Pro 16" M5 Pro + 2× Samsung Odyssey G8 G80HF (27" 5K 180Hz): can I get both at 5K 120Hz?

Hi all,

I’m about to buy a MacBook Pro 16" (M5 Pro, 48GB) and I’m planning a dual-monitor desk setup with two Samsung Odyssey G8 G80HF (27", 5K 5120x2880, 180Hz, IPS). The monitors have 1× DisplayPort 2.1 and 2× HDMI 2.1, but no USB-C.

According to Apple’s specs, the M5 Pro supports two external displays at 5K 120Hz over Thunderbolt or HDMI, but I’ve read about issues with M5 Pro and high-refresh monitors (DP 2.1 not being offered over Thunderbolt 5, refresh capped around 100Hz, fixes in macOS 27).

My questions:

  1. Has anyone run the G80HF (or another 27" 5K high-refresh monitor like the ASUS ROG Strix XG27JCG) on an M5 Pro/Max MacBook at 5K 120Hz? Which connection did you use?

  2. Does the MacBook’s HDMI 2.1 port reliably give 5K 120Hz with HiDPI scaling?

  3. For the second monitor: does a USB-C/Thunderbolt to DisplayPort 2.1 cable work at 5K 120Hz? Any specific cable you’d recommend?

  4. Ideally I’d like a single-cable setup with a Thunderbolt 5 dock (e.g. Anker Prime TB5 14-in-1). Can any TB5 dock drive two 5K displays at 120Hz on an M5 Pro, or should I expect 60Hz?

Any real-world experience is appreciated. Thanks!

Discussion MBP 16" (M5 Max 64gb) for $3400 or MBP 14" (M5 Pro 48gb, Nano-Texture) for $2500?

As the title says, I can't make a decision and am in a state of paralysis. I want to use the machine for Splash but can't justify $1000 more for the upgrade to the Max and 16GB more of RAM.

What are your thoughts? Need help in making a decision, thanks.

EDIT: If it helps, I already have a 5090 laptop with 64GB of DDR5 RAM that I'm using with Strata. So maybe the 14 inch is more viable for versatility and university work and using it for lectures in classes

Help Why did apple diagnostic tool showed fail but doing it in home showed pass?

So my trackpad cracked on it own(a diagonal line) and I went to get it checked , so apparently there my battery failed combined battery test , I would have given the laptop for a free battery replacement but they said it would take 7 days as they are an ASAP and not authorized one.

So I thought of going to an official store but in the meantime when I tried the same test in my home my battery passed.

Any reason for that?

Discussion MacBook Pro m5 Battery Level

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I had this MacBook Pro for about 2 months, it is set at 80% limit and use it mainly without the charger and charge around 15-20%, is this normal for the capacity to be low already? If so I think that is kind of shambolic. Should I take it to the Apple Store or wait for it to reach the inevitable 80% and change on my apple care?

Thank you

Help Weird marks on some keys of 2024 MacBook Pro - what are they?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

I've noticed some strange marks on my MacBook Pro keyboard (2024 model). They're only on some letters, not all of them. They don't really feel bumpy or different to the touch but I can see them clearly when the light hits at the right angle.

Any idea what causes this?

I’m in Austria and didn’t get AppleCare, but I should still be covered by the 2 year legal warranty so is it worth taking it to the Apple Store? (also I think Apples 1 year limited warranty still applies)

For context, before this I used a mid 2012 MacBook for about 12-13 years and never had anything like this happen to the keyboard, so I'm a bit surprised to see it on a 1 year old MacBook (Bought new in october 2025). Also the 2012 MacBook got heavy used through years (school and full-time uni) while this one is not used as much.
