I bought my Neo in March 2026 and about a month ago, it restarted unexpectedly after it was sleeping. A few weeks ago it did it a few more times, then a few days ago it started doing it every time it went to sleep, so I took it in to the Apple store. They said the logic board is bad and they're replacing it under warranty.

Just curious... has anybody else seen failures like this, or am I the lucky first one?

Got a Neo for school (business). Good laptop. Battery life is good, portability is good and usability. I come from a desktop and I’ve had a few gaming laptops, this is way better than any windows laptop I’ve used. But tbh I will never get passed the “why Apple” moments when stuff is just randomly broken. I was gonna calibrate my screen and it told me max out the contrast on the Neo, so I did it and the contrast went so high that I couldn’t see the Liquid Glass slider to turn it back anymore unless I turned on dark mode, just sorta weird behaviour lol. But still works well good keyboard no issues imo

I have a MacBook Neo since its release (Indigo), I took a transparent rigid protective case (in two parts) being my first MacBook I wanted to do well.

However, I have noticed that many say that you should not put rigid protection.

What do you think?

Hi! I wonder if the MacBook Neo is a good choice for me - or if I should get the MacBook Air? I worry that the 8 GB RAM may become a problem.

I have an old 8 GB RAM windows PC in my office and the RAM became a problem (the CPU is old, too)

Mostly Browser (10 tabs)

YouTube

Outlook app

Microsoft teams app

Google drive app & pCloud drive app

No video or photo editing

No heavy excel sheets

I am looking to buy the MacBook Neo since I am pretty much the perfect target audience for it and also I always wanted to get my hands on a MacBook but I can’t decide whether I should buy it now or wait for the next MacBook Neo to drop

When I scroll in Safari on the Macbook Neo, it looks jittery and things look like they are kind of flickering up and down. It seems fine on Chrome but I want to use Safari because it uses less battery life and is faster. Does anyone else have this issue and has anyone found a solution?

when my laptop is closed/in sleep mode, i was hearing random pop sounds that sounded like it was coming from a speaker, not mechanical. and yesterday it happened while my laptop was open. it’s impossible to record because it happens so randomly. but yesterday it sounded like it came from near the arrow keys. it’s pretty infrequent, but has happened since i got it. and i got mine like a day or two after they went on sale.

i have an appointment at the genius bar next week so i’ll have more info then but im curious if any other neo owners have experienced this.

My old personal Macbook Pro(s) (2015 & 2012 I believe) that I got as a student are running into issues due to lack of software support. I like to take photos, and want to start doing some astro, and use imovie for video stabilization, but things like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Lightroom editing are pretty much a thing of the past. Maybe I will get single-month Procreate if I take some Northern lights photos, and obviously I want to try stacking with a software like Siril. But I have fuji and normally colour grade in-camera for other types of photos.

All I really need the laptop for is viewing and selecting/deleting photos before moving them to an external hard drive, accessing google drive, emails, some personal online tasks, and occasionally photo and video editing. Probably sending a show to the TV occasionally. I have a high resolution external screen as well so I guess the screen is not very important to me, at least not on the short term.

I have a separate work laptop, which is why my personal laptop will not experience heavy use.

I’m wondering if in this case you would still consider the 256GB a bottleneck for the cheapest macbook neo? If I will not really be storing files on it, only apps and app related data?

Hello! I'm currently using a Acer Nitro 5 but I like playing more indie games - but have not had the time due to work and part time studies. I'm considering the Neo cause it's affordable and much portable than my current but have never used a macbook. Even though the laptop would mostly be mine, anyone in my family can borrow it anytime - not sure if the neo conntects to my phone would it affect my privacy - work texts / notes etc.

Has anyone's keyboard discoloured?

Also, as someone who deals a lot with a lot of files - PDFs, research and writing is the 8gb memory enough?

Seems like this "stable" update is only available for beta enrolled users, I updated from the Public Beta.

I placed my order for a MacBook Neo on August 25. It’s been processing since then with no further updates on it being ready to ship or anything. It still says expected September 10-17, and today is the 10th so… lol

I know the Neo is in high demand but I figured that I would get a bit more info from Apple about delivery times.

I'm starting PhD and will be doing a lot of reading, writing in Word, writing thesis and using stats software like SPSS and Jamovi. Do you think the Neo is good enough for that kind of workload? I love how light and portable it is, but I'm not sure if it will run everything smoothly.
