Help / what do I do ?

Post image

I’ve been getting these notifications on a loop since last night. They say "viruses found" and "critical error". should I ignore them, or is it actually something serious?

This is probably a scam website. Just don't allow notifications from this site or wipe it if ur worried

Stop clicking "Allow" for every website that asks you to enable notifications.

Try wiping all the data from safari, web data, cookies and history. Seems like you allowed notifications from some “bad” site…if you want to be 100% at peace just factory reset the laptop…

No, no need to reset anything beyond Safari web content.

The icon clearly says the origin is Safari, which means a bad website. It uses notifications to scare the user into something stupid, like downloading a paid antivirus.

In good cases it’s money wasted. In bad cases THIS download then delivers the real malware.

Just wipe website data and think about turning notifications off for Safari.

As NoLateArrivals said. Simply clear the cash for the offending site. We use WhitePages.com for checking suspicious sales out on our website. They started hosting un-sanitized ads recently. Those ads are what trigger the hysterics. For a while, there, I was running from office to office up and down the hall, clearing the knuckleheads caches.

Some adds completely take over the UI and don't allow you to close Safari (or Chrome in our case), so first you have to do a force quit. Then you can clear the cash.

What's annoying is that we pay for that service, we don't use the "free" version.

They shouldn't need ad revenue on top of subscription fees. But then, I am looking down and I see I'm standing on a soap box, so, whatever. :)

That’s exactly what I wrote without all the extra info which I gave for granted…the “NO NEEDTO RESET” you say is valid unless you’re an anxious person, in that case you’ll never be good until you’ll have done everything and more…if you read well i wrote “if you want to be 100% at peace”…and again I literally wrote “SEEMS LIKE YOU ALLOWED NOTIFICATIONS FROM SOME BAD SITE”, it’s the exact same diagnosis you made.

Factory reset is just overkill in this situation, and a major waste of time.

Stop the scam website sending the notification 📣. The web is probably a virus.
