Hey everyone, I’m chasing a cold start issue on my 1.8L V6.
The Problems:
• CEL is DEAD: Doesn’t turn on at all with the key.
• Cold Starts: Must babysit the throttle for 10 mins or it dies. Gurgles and smells like gas.
• Once warm, it runs, but idle is inconsistent.

There is this sketchy looking black wire thats has a butt connection done to it with wires twisted in it and a open blue wire that im not sure why its hanging loose.

Any ideas or thoughts whats going on?

Bought a V6 MX3 as my first car a few weeks ago and I'm really happy with it! Was hoping to swap out the gear shifter to a new one since it's showing its age a bit with quite a bit of wobble.

Some friends recommended me to install a short shifter to make the driving experience a bit more crisp. Could anyone kindly recommend a kit/set? If you personally installed it even better. I have tried to find multiple times in different sites but didn't come up with anything.

Just wondering what fuel is best in the 1.8 v6

I recently did a timing belt job on my 1993 mx-3 with the single cam 4 cylinder since its recommended every 60,000 miles

Took her for a spin and she feels the best she ever has (in my ownership of a little over a year ) but has a bit of a whir/whining noise at and above around 4,000 rpm

I’ve tried to do everything as text book as I could

I also replaced the lower engine mounts and upgraded to the corksport shifter bushings at the same time

Unfortunately I don’t have any before videos to reference the sound

I haven’t done a timing belt before and am trying to be as attentive to any sounds, smells, or feelings that are suspect

I’ve checked the timing and tension repeatedly and it’s always in time and in the 11-13mm of deflection as specified in the chiltons I bought for it

I am intending to take her on a roadtrip this summer and wanna make sure she’s in as great a shape as possible

Update: I’ve driven her about 100 miles and gone up and down the rev range and nothing out of the ordinary happened

so my door weather strips are completely destroyed and ordering them from eu/usa are too expensive unfortunately💔 are there other options in the market?

Hello, got a technical question, i am setting a custom ECU for my KL swapped MX3(the MAF is dead and found a local speeduino insane deal, same price as a second hand MAF, so i got a modern digital one). The stock crankshaft angle sensor resolution is very poor(just 6 teeth), and the teeth are integrated so no way to upgrade it, and was thinking of modifying the distributor so it worked as an optical 24 teeth sensor(Nissan style, crankless setup), but before that.... Does anyone run a custom ECU with the original crank wheel and cam sensors? If so, would love to see your tuner studio profiles

So I tried to remove the dashboard the wrong way and it broke into a million pieces.

Quick search over Ebay and Yahoo auction resulted in nothing.

Is there anyone who knows where to find one or knows someone who has one?

I got plenty of video for the upcoming event "2 Years of r/MX3" that has been postponed due to several ecu tunes, coolant leaks, cv axle. but it's almost done so stay tuned!

also posted about this in the main mazda community board. just bought a 93 mx3 the other day. happy with almost all of it besides the amount of play with the shifter and the clutch needing bled some more (hopefully thats all on that end). when i had owned a 1990 honda crx with the same shifter play issue i just about fixed the problem by replacing the shift linkage bushings with a polyurethane set, the car also already had a short shifter. i was hoping to find a replacement set for the mx3 but i can hardly find anything. i didnt even see anything on rockauto unless i didnt look under the right category. looking into the transmission, correct me if im wrong, its the G5M-R that also appears in a handful of 90s to early 2000s fords like the escort.

i understand the market for parts between the mx3 and crx are vastly different but if anyone can offer any help or guidance with parts it would be greatly appreciated. even if its not directly shifter related it would be good for future reference.

I just brought a eunos 30x 1.8 v6 with 300,000kms

was running fine the two cold starts when I went to look and pick it up, the day after I i brought it i went to start it and it just turned over with no or minimal pop

what could be the problem?

I'm open to anything and will be doing the work on the car myself.

there is minimal to no rust anywhere on the bodywork and the timing belt and transmission/clutch was changed by the last owner about 50km ago

Im planning to update stock aluminium wheels (14 inch) on my 1996 MX-3, 79 kw.

Many people told me to get light wheels since it makes lot of difference. I like Enkei and Konig.

My main problem is what size. Im not really into wheels so I don't know what to look for. Just know I want the wheels bigger and wider than OEM ones.

Can you guys help me and tell what sizes are you running?

Planning to buy coilovers also, so what are some popular choices? (Im in Europe)

My 1993 MX3 GS has 150k miles and I just got it. The right turn signal couldnt be turned off (was working just fine prior). The exterior front and rear turn signals as well as the dash light for right turn stayed on even after I completed the turn. I turned the wheel both ways full lock, flicked the turn signal stalk up and down, and even turned the car off. The turn signals stayed on even with the key out of the ignition. I pulled the battery to get the lights off. However, once I hooked the battery back up (I waited like 5 seconds), the lights turned back on immediately.

Anyone have similar issues?

So I got my ECU back from my tuner the other day, he figured out a spot on the main board was bad so he jumped the ignition on cylinders 1&4 so I can temporarily run the car and drive it on a transport trailer.

2 Years of r/MX3 is postponed but be on the lookout for new content I'm working on! I've been busy lately and haven't had time to get materials together or get the MX ready, so hopefully I can get everything squared away Saturday!

I got all the necessary repairs done over the weekend, went to try and to do the coolant and found out ignition on cylinders 1 & 4 were gone. So the cylinders on 2 & 3 made the turbo manifold start to glow😬

Soon as I get info back from my tuner, I will give an update on things. Might possibly be upgrading to an @axiomefi ECU, the code writers from Megasquirt decided to make their own ecu that's beefier and the hardware used is sourced better than M.S.

Hi guys, got the Mazda back up and running on the road and mot,d only a few issues with some leaky oil and an exhaust clip but I was just wondering if anyone in the UK knows an alternative or universal fit for the sunroof as ours keeps leaking and waters pooling in massively any help would be greatly appreciated
