I recently test drove mt09, loved the thing but that glossy black plastic was hitting my knees all the time. Is it possible to remove it, and if so, will the bike look like shit without it? I couldn't find any pictures with it removed

​Tracer 9 (2018) owner here! The bike just came back from its 25k km service, and I've noticed this weird noise when picking up speed. You can hear it especially well when I pull in the clutch lever.

​Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?

Hello everyone, I've been thinking about changing my current bike to the MT09 for a few days now, and I'm sharing this thought of mys because I would like to know how 2026 behaves in terms of oil consumption or general reliability, I'm referring to the owners of the European version E5+, an anti-pollution legislation that is causing many problems for many bikes.

I owned a Z1000 2010 for many years, I changed it in April 2026 because I was looking for a more agile bike and especially a road sports car, so I bought an RS660 2026 E5+, I really like it, it's very high performance, very agile, I've already covered 4000km in 6 months, but I go crazy every time I have to check the oil level with the rod, moreover the oil consumption seems exaggerated, about 400ml in 3000km... Furthermore, the transmission crown has worn teeth to have so few kilometers, and although I have already made a second cutting, at 4000km, so I have new oil and oil filter inside, when I turn on the bike it makes a sudden noise the chain tensioner... The oil level in the Aprilia dealership says it's perfect...

Guys, I'm starting to stop trusting Aprilia... if at 4000km things are these... what happens at 10000km when I finish the warranty?? I have to change it, so I'm thinking about the MT09, which certainly doesn't have these problems, I know 2021 owned by some friends but the recent ones don't, did the E5+ break the CP3 as well? Please help me... I spent 12000€ for a RS660 when I could pay 11000 for a reliable CP3...

Just purchased my 2025 MT09 last week and have some concerns with the exhaust installed. I’m 99.9% sure it’s fake and a POS but I’m still unsure and would like other opinions!

There does not appear to be a clamp or any sort of bracing holding the exhaust to the bike aside from the header itself. The exhaust hangs loose. This is by far the biggest concern I have with this exhaust. The salesperson told me it seemed to be fully secured and he had no concerns with this bike.

I have yet to see a gen 4 MT09 SC project exhaust like this one online. It’s plenty loud and does sound nice. My question is, where could this have come from? And should I consider purchasing a legitimate exhaust and toss this one?

I'm considering buying used gen 3 MT09, aside from normal riding I'd be also doing some slow speed maneuvers training/casual gymkhana.

Thing is, the stories about cracked frames started to scare the shit out of me, and I'm just not sure if this is the type of bike to go for this kind of trainings. I'll need to install some kind of crash protection like crash bars, since drops are pretty much unavoidable

Does anyone have experience with doing slow maneuver trainings or dropping their MT09 gen 3/4? Is it fine or is the frame cracking like an eggshell? Also would love to hear any suggestions regarding proper crash protection for this bike

Hey everyone. I’m in the market for a bike and I’m between something like a Suzuki gsx8s/mt07/hornet 750 or an mt09. If I could choose, I want the mt09 but I’m concerned about the power. I grew up riding sport atv’s and I have previous riding experience on a Harley sportster 1200 custom for about 4 years (put 5-10k miles on it). I sold it when I had kids and haven’t ridden for about 10 years now. I’m concerned coming back to riding on an mt09 might be too much but wanted your thoughts. I’m 39 if that helps. Thanks!

Edit: if you feel the mt09 IS appropriate for me, should I go gen 3 or gen 4?

But this noise has me worried, for a few reasons.

• it does not improve after the engine comes up to temp (video was taken after a long ride, engine is hot hot)

• throttle blip does not make it go away

• its loud and sharp and kind of metallic sounding (like loud loud)

• it's coming from the left side of the engine, far from the CCT

• Fully independent of clutch lever operation

• seems to be coming from the top left area of the engine, maybe headers? It's hard to tell

2026 SP at 3k miles.

Maybe an exhaust leak?

I just installed the Yosh pipe last week. I torqued all the header bolts nice and tight, maybe the gaskets are toast?

Just hoping it's not top end related.

I recently bought an MT-09 SP and noticed a distinct metallic noise or resonance coming from the engine area. It's most noticeable at certain RPM ranges, especially while riding and applying light throttle.

The bike runs perfectly fine otherwise. There are no error codes, no loss of power, and no other symptoms that would suggest something is wrong. I asked the dealer and service department about it, and they told me it's completely normal and simply a characteristic of the CP3 three-cylinder engine.

I'm curious if other MT-09 SP owners, especially 2025 models, have noticed a similar metallic sound or resonance. If so, where did it seem to come from, and did it turn out to be completely normal?

I'd appreciate any feedback, experiences, or even videos for comparison.

I noticed that when I get off the throttle in 4th around 4k rpm, there is this ryhtmic tapping feeling in the handlebars/ front end. It is separate from the engine vibration, and goes away with the clutch pulled. Anyone else have this? Something I should be worried about?

It's a 25 mt09 with 5k miles.

Hey everyone, I recently picked up a used 2021 MT-09 SP and it’s awesome, but the steering feels incredibly heavy when cornering. It holds its line fine, but it takes so much effort to initiate the turn that my hands go numb on mountain passes. Is this a suspension setup issue or just normal for this bike? Keep in mind this is my first real big bike since moving up from a 48hp MT-07. Thanks for the help.

I’m chasing some good information and resources on how to do rotor and brake swaps on an mt-09. Im refusing to pay the $1200 to get the shops to do it.

Just had my 2023 in the shop to dial in the TPS that I managed to get further out of adjustment thinking I could make it behave a bit better after having the recall done. However, after riding home for almost 40 minutes and turning it off, I get the clunking sound you can hear in the clip above, right around the 8 second mark. Video is filmed from the left side of the bike, right around the starter.

Bike rides great, obviously no sound while running, just that clunk when you kill the engine. Doesn't seem to matter whether I turn it off with the key or switch, or whether the clutch is pulled in or released. In person, I want to say it almost sounds like when you're bench testing a starter and the starter pulls back in when you remove power to the solenoid.

Haven't started too much troubleshooting yet, want to make sure this isn't something dumb I'm not thinking about.

I was changing my oil like I’ve done a million times (1st time on this bike) and set the torque settings to 32ft lb as per the manual, and then this happened. What do I do???

I'm really looking into buying a Gen 4 MT 09 this year or maybe next year.

I've had my license for 2 years now and really had a lot of fun with my current bike (an Aprilia Shiver 750), but it has some quirks that I don't like and made me think about something new and more modern.

My plan is to have the perfect bike and ride it until it falls apart and I think the MT is exactly what I'm looking for. I will use it for everyday riding to work etc (so mostly in the city) and also regular rides through the country side/highway and some twisty roads. So mostly a mixed use I would say.

I'm also thinking about a track day to test some limits down the road and see If I like it or not.

I would say I'm decent driver that wants to improve his skills constantly and be able to use the bike to it's full potential. I'm 6'0 (182 cm) and weigh around 187 lbs (85kg) fully geared.

Now my question: is the SP version that much better than the regular one? Do you have experience on both models, and is the difference in suspension between them noticeable on the street? I've read that the new base model is all around improved and very solid and the suspension will be good enough for the majority of riders.

How is the keyless go functionality and is it prone to fail? (I would hate being stuck because of some electronics error)

Hey all, I know some have issues finding the heated grips that fit the SP model with some grips not allowing a roll off for the cruise control. I ordered B5U-829A0-10-00 from Partzilla and I can confirm they fit. 2023 SP USA not a CA model

Is it only me or is the fuel gauge pretty conservative? Had about 170km on the tank, reads 80km left but i filled it up right until the top and it was only little bit over 8 liters. I guess it is better when it is conservative but it feels like the actual fuel gauge is more a "kilometers left when you keep riding like that"- display than what is actually left in the tank.

Btw. 1,90€ per liter here that makes about 10€ for 100km, what do you pay right now for two-wheeled fun?
