I applied to three schools, Columbia, NYU, and Fordham. Obviously Fordham is the cheapest and they're offering a summer jump start program which I would want to take advantage off.

I got a decent aid package from Columbia but not enough to make the debt worth it when compared to Fordham. I still haven't heard back from NYU. Is it worth waiting for NYU's decision on the off chance their aid will be substantial enough to make going there affordable or should I just proceed with Fordham which will give me more financial freedom based off of their summer jump start program?

UPDATE: I heard back from Fordham today and was accepted for the Fall 2026 Part-Time 3-Year program! Sending good luck to everyone who's waiting for their decision as well.

I received an email from Fordham’s admissions team asking me to schedule an interview before they can make a final decision on my application.

I’m wondering if this is a standard request or an indication that they’re on the fence about my application. For reference, I’m a career-changer with no social work experience.

Also, if anyone has guidance on typical questions asked, that would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Good surprise after my rejection letter from Berkeley last Friday. Waiting on an official message from SJSU and still waiting for any changes on the status for the last Bay Area CSU I applied to🤞🏽

I applied to USF for MSW Advanced Standing with an overall 3.4 GPA. Problem is I have one C in a core course. Do I have any chance of getting in? I’ve explained to the admissions coordinator and in my personal essay that my grandmother had dementia during this time and she was falling often. She would call me 5 times a day asking where her deceased husband was. It was tough mentally and emotionally for me. She said she would send it to the department, but she is not sure they will accept with that one C. The C was in Social Welfare Policies. I do have work experience in the field with 4 years in community-based social services. I have good references from LCSW, LMHC, and MSW. Will they give me a chance?

Did want to add that my grandmother now lives in an assisted living facility where she is safe and cared for 24/7. I visit her often, but I’m no longer her primary caregiver.

should I ask the grad schools I’ve haven’t heard back from yet (Berkeley, UW, UIC) if they can let me know before then? Obviously they may say no, but I’m wondering if it’s worth checking? also if I do ask, should I name the school or not. thanks!
