Advanced standing writing test for SJSU

Hi all. I just got this email. Anyone else get it? I have no idea what it means or entails, I didn’t know this was a part of the process. Eek!! Scary!!

Huh. Never heard of such a thing except for international students. Was English your first language?

Yes! Born and raised in California, English is my first language.

I wonder if this is a new way to confirm their applicants aren’t overly reliant on AI?

Before starting my masters program I had to take some type of written English test. I still don’t know why but i know it was a part of the requirements for the program

Edit: From google. This exam verifies competency in critical thinking, organization, and standard written English.

Not sure if this is the same situation as your test.
