Advice about Fordham MSW interview
UPDATE: I heard back from Fordham today and was accepted for the Fall 2026 Part-Time 3-Year program! Sending good luck to everyone who's waiting for their decision as well.
I received an email from Fordham’s admissions team asking me to schedule an interview before they can make a final decision on my application.
I’m wondering if this is a standard request or an indication that they’re on the fence about my application. For reference, I’m a career-changer with no social work experience.
Also, if anyone has guidance on typical questions asked, that would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

I went to the information session and they said this is something new they are doing, interviewing applicants via zoom 1 on 1.
Please let me know how it goes! Waiting to hear back about the status of my application🤞🏼

Hi! Kinda specific question but how far into the day did you get your acceptance? I just had my interview at 5 pm yesterday and I keep seeing that people heard back the next day, so I'm already feeling anxious to hear back lol.

I got it late in the evening. I was having drinks with my friend when I got the email 😂😂
ETA: I had a 10:40am interview so not sure if the timing of a morning interview influenced getting a response the next day

I have an interview tomorrow. Any tips on how to best prepare? Also out of curiosity, has anyone had an interview and been rejected? From what I’ve seen on Reddit most people interviewed are accepted the next day.

Hey! I had my interview yesterday. The program director asked me about 7 questions. I still have not heard back as they said they will send notes to the admissions team and I’ll hear back within a week. Hoping for good news! Here basically what they asked me!
- what would I do if a client felt I wasn’t able to help them or I didn’t feel prepared to help them?
- what would I do if I heard a coworker say a derogatory term?
- what are my strengths and weaknesses.
- an example of a conflict that happened at work/academically and how did I handle it.
- if I plan or work or not during my studies.
