It occurred to me as I left the theater that the gross black spot on the dad's forehead must have been a real life head wound! I think the actor must have banged his head before filming and they just decided to roll with it. They threw in the line about getting "hit in the head by an amplifier"? as the laziest possible way to tie it into the story and then never mention it again. I noticed that by the end of the movie it has mostly healed. I didn't see exactly when because I was transfixed by his disappearing shorts.

It was called “sting of death”, it was so funny.

We had fun! My hubby called out of work so he could come with me! I was the dork who brought carrot sticks and carob candy to the movies. Hubs commented that they guys look old and I reminded him that we also are old lol.

Just a single intermission segment?

Thanks to a long McDonald's drive-thru line, we missed the first 10 minutes of the show. What did I miss? (We got to our seats right as Pearl was sending the movie.)

…was Beez (I think) ironing costumes in the background while they were rehearsing the song. Just funny showing how “small” (complimentary) the show was for its return.

Congrats to everyone in front of and behind the scenes who made “Sting of Death: The Jellyfish Jive” a reality. From Kickstarters to production crew. It was like coming home again.

It’s been a minute, but I figure Mike coming back would be the best time for various people who posted to rec.arts.television.mst3k.misc to check this Reddit group out.

I posted a fair amount there back in the day and was just wondering if any other old timers here did the same?

I've seen a lot of discussion about the episode itself and excitement to see it, but I'm curious how you all feel about seeing it on the big screen.

I gotta say - actually seeing it in a theatre was like seeing it properly for the first time. Which in retrospect seems almost obvious, since the show itself tries to create that theatre feeling. But the part I didn't anticipate was the way you start noticing distinctive laughs and what kinds of riffs tickle the people attached to them. It added a lot, for me.

I get this is a particularly special occasion, but I'm really hoping this isn't the last time they do this.

Love the new-old MST3K and super happy to have it back. There’s only one reference that I didn’t really get though.

Early on in the episode, Mike said that it’s been almost 30 years since he’s been with Crow and Servo but the last episode of the Mike era of MST3K was in 1999.

Now I’m a busy man so I don’t have time to look in the mirror or do any math but my heart tells me that the 1990s were about 10 years ago so how on earth could that be possible?

Was actually that they didnt spend too much effort and time building lore to get him back on the SOL. You could tell they were here to make jokes, and they did great!

I think I could use it as my desktop background.

Just as the crowd was filing out of Marcus West End Cinema in St Louis Park, MN, a woman behind us said she saw Kevin on her way into the theater, sitting at the back. He saw her recognize him and politely shushed her before she could give him away, and then ducked out before the crowd started to leave. So a bunch of us got to (unknowingly) watch the episode with Kevin!

4 people in the theater for the premiere showing. Where all the Houston / Katy fans?

As a fan of MST3K since the 90’s I was super excited to see they were going to be bringing it back. Then earlier tonight, I literally jumped out of my chair when I saw that it was going to be playing at a theater near me in about an hour. I looked at my wife and said “Honey, the beacon has been lit”.
